“What a very nice place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2009

We had the pleasure of staying at the Sheraton Vistana from Sep 4-7 during a quick business trip to view a condo that we had just purchased in Orlando.

Our package deal with Air Canada included a stay here and I must say that I was a little concerned at first due to the reading I had done on TA of them being pushy to sell their timeshares, but happy to report that it was not that bad. We had one call but did not go and pick-up the welcome package they said they had for us. I must also admit that I did unplug our phones and so glad I did because when I listened to the msgs the next day, they had called at just after 7am!!! Something I'd suggest that they change as it's way to early to call someone when they are on vacation....unless they ask for a wake-up call !!!!

We arrived around 4pm after going to visit our condo and check-in was quick. I asked which building they had placed us in and the nice girl said 14. I then asked if we could be moved to one of the newer buildings that would not have been a smoking unit, as I knew the older ones used to be smoking. She spent a few minutes looking and found us a room in bldg 24 but on the ground floor and we were ok with this.

Upon finding our bldg and opening the room door my jaw dropped. What a fantastic condo. We had a nice inside corner unit which was very open and bright. Something I might purchase if it was for sale and not a time share!

You first walk into the kitchen area which is fully stocked with everything you need and has a nice breakfast bar and stools, granite counter tops, fridge (with built-in ice maker), oven, counter flat top cook surface, full overhead microwave and nice dishwasher. They also supply a small bottle of dish soap and bags of dishwasher soap. We also received coffee for the coffee maker.

The stackable washer & dryer were a bonus and tucked away in a closet which is nice and they even supplied washing detergent. Inside were also an iron and ironing board.

We walked into the first part of the bathroom to find a seperate toilet area with a sliding door and a really big walk-in shower that could fit 6 people!! This room also had a really nice counter and sink.

You then walk thru another opening into the second part of the bathroom which has another full counter with sink and the nicest whirlpool tub. This bathroom is the biggest i've ever had and very nicely decorated. They also supply lots of soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The only thing missing was towel bars to hang your wet towels on, but since our package came with daily housekeeping service we just left them on the floor so as to receive clean ones.

The next door leads you into the bedroom which has a king size bed with nice night tables and lamps and a nice dresser which has a 32" flat screen tv sitting on top as well as a nice size closet with a small wall safe inside. The bedroom also has a nice patio door which leads out to the totally screened in balcony area.

Upon leaving the bedroom you walk into the living room which has another patio door leading to the balcony area. It has a nice couch (which pulls out into a double bed) and chair, a small wall unit which holds another 32" flat screen tv and a dvd player. The living area flows into the dining room area which has a nice big table with 4 chairs and a built in bench on the end for 2 more seats.

This unit has a nice flow to it......it's like a continous circle from one room to the other to another. I loved the doors in the bathroom area as they slide into the walls and do not take up any floor room. We also had a nice big closet in the front hall as you walk into the unit.

Our housekeeping service was done each day. The first day she was awesome and I had left a note for extra stuff and a nice tip and she left what I had asked for. The next day i had left a note that the toaster was broken and she had a new one left, but she did not replace the floor mats and towels in the bathroom. One call to customer service and within 10mins we had a runner at our door with all that we wanted. They called 3 times to make sure we had received them!

We made a trip the first evening to Walmart and purchased all the food we needed to make breakfast each day and it was nice being able to get up and relax without having to rush out to eat somewhere.

The grounds are kept very well and the service guys who drive around in little golf carts are so frendly and always said hi.

Checkout on Monday was a breeze (but 10am is a little too early) and I only wish that we would have stayed for longer then just the 4 days so that we could have experienced everything that this resort had to offer. As our condo we purchased in Metro West is going to be leased out, we will need a place to stay aleast for now until we decide to make it our retirement home and we will return to Vistana Village when coming to Orlando........we loved it here :)

out of all the places we have stayed in orlando this was the best for fixtures and fittings, deep carpets, good solid furniture etc. It was very quite when we were there so had a ball at the pool, i see they have now bulit more blocks so that may have changed now. We were hounded daily about timeshare but simply ignored the calls, though became a pain delelting every evening. Location is great as central but quite and local shops nearby as is Premium outlets. Woiuld plan to go back.................

We really enjoyed our stay here overall. I absolutely loved our room. It was very well appointed and had everything we needed to make us feel right at home. From the stacked h.e. washer & dryer to the fully stocked kitchen, there's a Publix right down the street to get groceries - very convenient! I especially enjoyed the jetted tub after a long day at the parks. Our bed was nice and comfy, the pillows were super soft and the duvet and comforters were plush. We all overslept our first night here! The pools were spacious, clean, and we did not have any difficulty finding a table or lounge chairs. They even have movie nights at the pool with a huge movie screen and lots of planned activities for the kids throughout the week, although a couple could still enjoy themselves here, too. The pool towel service was convenient, and they offer poolside massages, even teeth whitening??

The negatives... same as previously mentioned about the lack of maid service & lack of parking (but if you return late from the parks like we did, what can you expect). The big negative for me was the on-site restaurant which leaves much to be desired, thus the 3 star service rating. I would have rated it lower had the manager, Dell not refunded my meal. It was that awful, I would liken the food to what you'd get from a hospital or school cafeteria. The cocktails on the other hand were delicious! So stay, drink, and play here, just don't eat here. One other thing to mention is the nice outlet mall nearby... Coach, Nike, Ralph Lauren, so if you forgot to pack your tennis shoes or an outfit, just head down the street.

Stayed at Vistana Villages (Ameila phase) for seven days (22-29 August) with wife and two small children (4.5 and 6.5 yrs) for our annual trip to Orlando. Owners at another Starwoods Property and Starwoods Gold members so we had separate check-in, which was fast and efficient. 2-bedroom, 2-bath suite in Amelia phase w/ the screened porch facing the lagoon. Ample parking as it seems we were at the outskirts leading into the new development (St. Augustine), so we parked close regardless of the time of day.

Grounds, and pool area were well maintained. Pool was very clean, plenty of chaise chairs or tables w/ umbrellas. Pool was large, but not best pool I have seen at a resort location. Little store selling drinks, ice cream, suntan lotion, etc was very convenient in the pool area. Events held daily to keep kids active - my kids did tie-dye shirts - $10/, which was fun for them. Ate in Flagler's Grill which was next to the pool - typical burgers, salads and such - food was just right for pool-side, though no pool-side service. Landscaping is well maintained.

Suite was typical 2-bedroom 2-bath suite. Full size kitchen w/ all amenities, dining area w/ table for six, granite countertop w/ high top stools for seating. Dishwasher, electric stove, microwave and all the small appliances necessary. Kitchen was stocked w/ the usual dishes, pots, pans, silverware, etc. Our unit was missing a few items that we noticed only when we invited some Orlando friends over for dinner, but someone from housekeeping delivered right away. Dishwasher one day did not drain, and we called for service - no one came and we called again the next day and it was eventually repaired.

Laundry - up/down washer/dryer was nice and expected so we packed light and washed clothes, towels, swimsuits daily.

Rest of unit was nice, but inconsistent. I blame housekeeping. Kids bath had double sinks, but only one soap dish and one bar of soap. Same in master bath, w/ double sinks at opposite ends of the bath, only one soap dish, one bar of soap, one hairdryer, one trash can. Towel rod in separate toilet area so when you came out of the shower, you had to walk around to the enclosed toilet area to get your towel,or drape your towel over the shower stall wall. No place to hang face/hand towels near the sinks. Place also needed dusting - very dusty in areas when the sun shined. Though the units looked new, some of the furnishings were showing wear - kitchen cabinets were beaten up/scratched, cushions on sofa and chairs were mushy, carpet was fraying.

Midweek we had cleaning service, but they left no garbage bags, no toilet paper, no replacement of coffee, paper towels, dishsoap or bar soap. Eventually we called to get more toilet paper and garbage bags. Had to take trash bags to a trash bin on each floor. Enclosed room where the trash chute was located smelled strong of urine - like someone urinated in the room on the floor. With no window, this 4' by 4' room really reeked. Near the end of our trip someone finally mopped the room out. Other guests either did not read the Resort flier or were just plan inconsiderate, as they left their bags of garbage in front of the elevators, apparently trying to stuff them into these tiny garbage cans near the elevator. Garbage full of pizza boxes, beer cans, frozen food containers, etc just hanging out their bags when we stood waiting for an elevator. Next time, read the instructions.

All in all, the Sheraton Vistana Villages is a nice resort property. Well laid out and well maintained. Located away from the other resorts on I-Drive, but near a Publix, Walgreen's and other stores. Would stay here again, but hope that housekeeping was better.

We just spent 10 days at this resort, staying in a 2 Br in Building #23 which was pretty new. Our condo was beautiful - nice furniture, comfy beds, great shower/whirlpool tub, and granite countertops! Suites also come with full kitchen and a washer/dryer, which was a bonus when you're there for 10 days! Spent every day at the pool - there is a main pool with the waterfalls, and then a smaller pool, called the quiet pool, which we preferrred since it was my husband and I.

We had a lovely vacation here and would recommend to anyone. We travel a lot, typically 4-5* resorts and this place ranks as one of the most comfortable experiences we've had away from home.

If there are negatives, it would be the lack of maid service, and a lack of parking.

I had constantly checked the reviews on here before we went to florida so was unsure what to expect upon arrival! From the moment we entered and checked in the hotel up until we left the resort the stay was excellent. We had a apartment in block 26 which was one of the newer buildings next to construction which we did not hear a single loud noise at all during our stay! We had a beautiful apartment with fabulous views extremly clean and very helpful as well as accomodating staff! Room service was reasonably priced as were drinks we ordered both to our room and ate in the returant/bar by the pool! We used the hotel shuttle several times and the driver was brilliant-the hotel is at a quieter end of i-drive but the trolley stops right outside and it is walking distance to the local walmart publix which was massive and cheap!!
it is also closer to the prime outlets mall! I really cannot fault this hotel and would go back definitly when i next visit florida!!

When i first got there i was gobsmacked, i couldn't belive how spacious and clean it was, we had an apartment in front of the lake, the view was amazing. You could see the pools, the lake and everything else around you. The shop was could but quite expenseive, a wal mart was the best place to shop by far. It took a minute or 2 to get to see world and aquatica and 20 mins at the most to disney and univeral. The location was great and you had everything around you that you needed like shop, place to eat and theme parks!!!!
A couple of days in 1 of our toilets wouldn't flushed so we called up the free Sheraton phone line and told them and within 20 mins at the most a man came around and fixed within a couple of mins, they were so helpful!!!!
The pools perfect and it was very clean and fresh and the hot tubs were so relaxing. The rooms were very large and fitted six of us easily. The sheraton made our holiday a relaxing and fun filled 2 weeks of heaven, enjoy the Sheraton!!!! 5 stars *****
