As a Sheraton owner, I trust that my dollar is as good as anyone elses. At the Sheraton Vistana Villages, my family and I got a room in an older part of the large timeshare complex. I would recommend asking for and demanding a room in the newer area of the complex. the facilities, pool, and rooms are all much nicer than what we received.

Make sure to remember that there is an older part and newer part of the complex.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the newer area

Dear VegasStrip,

Thank you for your posting on Trip Advisor and on behalf of the entire Sheraton Vistana Villages team thank you for spending your Orlando vacation with us. Please accept our apologies as it appears we did not meet your expectations with regards to your villa accommodations. While we are not certain what phase of our resort you stayed in we can report that our owners have approved the necessary funding to begin the renovation of our Bella and Ameila phases later this summer. Once complete, all phases of Sheraton Vista Villages will either be newly renovated or relatively new thus providing an enhanced guest experience. Additionally, a "Sheraton Link" Cybernet café with complimentary Computer / Printer access, and additional Fitness Center with Life Fitness Equipment are also scheduled to open in May 2013. Once again, thank you for your comments; if you would like to provide additional feedback or have any questions concerning the enhancements to our resort please contact us at svvgm@starwoodvo.com.

We have stayed at several excellent properties in the Orlando area, including the Omni Champion's Gate, the Sheraton Four Points, and The Buena Vista Palace. The Sheraton Vistana Villages has them all beat. The location was excellent, far enough from I-4 and the busier North International Dr to be quiet in the evenings, yet close enough that Epcot and Hollywood Studios were a quick 15 minute drive, even during peak traffic. When we arrived, check in was a breeze. Upon opening the door, the kids were gobsmacked. The one bedroom handicapped accessible suite was huge and included a full kitchen, a big fold out couch, roll in shower, a spacious jetted tub, and two bathroom sink areas, and well as a screened porch and a full separate bedroom for the adults with the best king sized bed I have ever slept in on a hotel property. We are the kind of people who come prepared for anything, but we needn't have worried when traveling here. From detergents for the dishwasher and the in suite clothes washer to toasters, kettles, coffee filters, paper towels- all was provided. I might bring along a cookie sheet and some fabric softener next time, but those are hardly big quibbles, as I'm sure I could have either requested those from housekeeping or purchased foil and dryer sheets at the marketplace on site. Five minutes away there is a twenty four hour grocery store next to a twenty four hour McDonalds. We probably saved a couple hundred dollars at least preparing breakfast and snacks to eat at the comfy dining area in our room or out by the pool. The value here was exceptional. We got a great deal, but even at full price the resort would have been worth the money. I can't really speak about the TV service, as we were too busy to sit and watch, but there were modern flat screens, if that is important to you, and even a DVD player for movie viewing. Every request we made through our bookit.com reservation was honored, without difficulty. My wife has mobility issues and the accessible room made getting around so much easier for her. Staff also showed her how to disassemble and load the scooter she rented for our days at Disney, which was delivered and kept for us at the front desk area where we were also able to drop it off before leaving town. The shower had a seat which made getting clean after a long day at the parks less of a hassle for her. The kids and I really enjoyed the jetted tub, too. I wish I could have taken it home with me. lol As for cleanliness, I have zero complaints. I could nitpick I suppose about a stain in the carpet or small marks on the couch, but really, this place sees so many families coming through that it is remarkable how well the staff keeps ahead of issues. While we were on property they were proactively pressure washing all the balconies and windows and yet we were not disturbed by any noise at all. On our last day in Orlando, even after we checked out, we were invited to hang out by the pool and enjoy the hot tub and kid's play areas, including a pirate ship suited for the younger set and a nice, fast two story corkscrew water slide for the more adventurous. While the adults lounged under a cabana reading books, the kids swam under the eyes of no less that four lifeguards at any given time. From our first interaction with staff to our last, we never found anyone who was less than helpful and friendly, even the timeshare people were pretty chill- but, TIP: If you don't want to hear from them in the morning, unplug the suite phones before going to bed. It worked great for us. We will return without hesitation. You will, too. :)

Room Tip: Rooms in the St Augustine section close to the pirate pool are newer and spacious. It's a good a...

We took our entire family (10 in all) for a trip to disney and stayed the the resort. We had 4 villas and I was not really impressed. We are owners at various Starwood properities and by far, this was the least impressive.

I will be brief but here is my commentary. I thought that the villa was nice and the building we stayed in was relatively quiet. The restraurant on the premsies is horrible..with a capital H. The food was tasteless and way overpriced. The small grocery store on the property was terrible and the selection was almost non existant. We went to Publix to stock up on groceries.

The pool(s) were all overcrowded and NEVER were there enough chairs for us to use. They do have a policy for leaving lounge chairs unattended but it is never enforced.

The calls from the sales departemnt to all of our guests was beyond annoying. They would receive 3-4 calls per day to attend a sales presentation. I would think that if the offeer was declined once then that would be the end of the sales pitch. It got to the point that it was beyond annyoing. The only reason my husband and I attended an owner update was to get the discount for the disney tickets, otherwise I would have been happy not to hear the pitch either.

I would never stay here again.

The resort had some strong positives and negatives. Unfortunately, we felt that the negatives ruined what could have been an exceptional stay.

The overall property is immaculate and the grounds are well kept. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the foyers and corridors of our building. There was always garbage(sometimes ransacked by local wildlife) around. The walls and elevator was generally unsightly.

Front desk staff were excellent as well as the resort help service. Each call was returned with a follow up to ensure that the requested service or issue had been dealt with.

Housekeeping manager was excellent. When we checked in, we were missing a number of items. He personally came to our suite and took inventory and returned with everything that was needed. The housekeeping service itself was very poor. The cleaning generally consisted of towel and linnen changes with a cursory clean of the kitchen and bathrooms. The clean was not thorough and I do not believe that the carpet was vacuumed or the floors washed. Generally, anything that was left lying around was untouched. No deep cleaning or dusting was done. Basic supplies were not replenished and we had to call on three different occasions for things like toilet paper and dishwashing detergent.

The biggest turnoff is the relentless harassment by the timeshare sales staff. 9 calls in three days, before we were able to stop them. We had checked in at 4 am after a delayed inbound flight and put our kids to bed. The first call arrived at 8 am the next morning. There is a major disconnect between the sales and resort staff. Even after we requested on both sides, they struggled to actually communicate with each other and stop calling us. The sales staff actually told me that they were powerless to stop the calls, unless it was requested by the resort staff. I was not willing to disconnect my phone, as I needed it for emergency contact with my family back home. Besides, why should I even have to?

For us, the HARASSMENT by the sales staff actually has us questioning our loyalty to the Starwood brand. We are owners and Starwood Platinum members. At this time, we are considering contacting Starwood to lodge a formal complaint. I am not sure if it will trigger any response from Starwood. We asked to be left alone and this was not respected. It took a visit to the front desk, 2 emails to the G.M. and a call with the director of sales.

Everyone who writes negatives about the sales department is 100% justified.
ENOUGH!!! FIX YOUR PROBLEMS!!!!!

This is the third visit to this resort and the second in a one bedroom. The one bedrooms have a pull out couch that has a double bed. Much roomier than a hotel room but it would be tight for four. The dining area is small and there is not much kitchen counter space but it does have a full size fridge and dishwasher. The bathroom is a decent size but not much counter space. To get to the balcony you have to go through the bedroom but it was a nice view of one of the ponds but a little noisy with 4 behind the building . The overall appearance was good but could use a top to bottom scrubbing so all the nooks are clean. The pools are great . There are four pools and two are heated . The main pool is not but the smaller " quiet" pool right behind it is . The pool at the "keys" complex is big and heated. Good place to get a chair cuz the main and quiet pool fill up quickly.

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor and go to the pool at the " keys" complex.

We booked this place and the resort was nice, however like most resorts you get a call the next day at the front desk asking you to take part in a "free" breakfast, (which by the way was all pre-packaged muffins that tasted like cardboard. They ask for 1.5 hrs and they claim that its a no-pressure sales event. In the end, when we declined, because they had asked us lots of personal, they used this to then hassle us into buying and then said that we would never get this deal again. Here is how a TS works and knowing and using this for many years, I can safely give you a full insight: The buy-in and annual maintenance fee is calculated by actuaries who look at inflation, markets and math calcs to set rates that change, so your maintenance fee can change and you have no control over it. Unless you use the TS every year and dont mind the increase in other costs, it is much better to look for online deals. Ask youself if you would be able to affors the mts fees if you lost your job, fell ill etc, because is is near impossible to sell them for what you paid for it. They may clain that you are buying an asset...You are not. You do not own anything. My advice, do not speak to these sales people...they will make life very difficult for you to say "no" and they tell you lots of lies. We had 2 sales ladies and they tell you that they care about you etc...Typical sales pitch. Once we declined, they did not even say hello to us or our little boy in the hallways, whom they were best friends with during the presentation. These women need to be taught manners and respect! Bottom line, we were able to book the resort for 10 days in peak season for less than 1100 for a 2 bedroom. Do your homework. We will never trust another TS sales person. They are worse than realtors.

Dear Mayasurmont,

On behalf of the entire team at Sheraton Vistana Villages we would like to thank you for sharing your comments regarding your previous stay with us. Your experiences surrounding your Sales Presentation were not in line with the usual high quality of service and accommodation we provide our owners and guests. While there are no obligations to attend or participate in the Product Update, the 90 minute presentation is a useful tool which benefits users of the Starwood Vacation Network. However, we are bothered that you encountered hostility from our sales staff after declining our vacation ownership offer and we have forwarded your concerns to our Sales Management team for review.
