“Decent hotel at a reasonable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013

This is the 2nd time we've stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Lake Buena Vista, the last being 3 years ago, and both times I've found it to be a decent place to use as a base while exploring all that Orlando has to offer.

The room was clean and the bed was comfy, we had no real issues with noise apart from some neighbours on our final few nights who had a tendency to make a bit of noise in the corridor, but nothing that kept us awake. The showers are powerful and there was always plenty of hot water available. The room was cleaned daily with fresh towels delivered (slightly annoyingly even if you left them in the place that indicated you were willing to re-use, got to offset the flight carbon somehow). The room had a fridge which is vey useful for storing some in-room refreshments and a microwave which I guess would come in handy if you wanted to knock something simple together rather than eat out, or reheat some leftovers.

The breakfast, while nothing special, is certainly good enough to fill up on before heading out for a day on your feet, with a reasonable selection of breads, bagels, english muffins, muffins, scrambled eggs, sausage, yoghurts, porridge, fruit etc. If you go early enough 6:30 - 7:30 it's very quiet, but it does get a bit busy around 8:30 onwards, but nothing too traumatic.

The staff, with who we had little interaction because everything went so well, were all very pleasant and helpful. As others have noted, the lifts are fairly slow, so we opted to use the stairs most of the time seeing as it's only a 5 storey building. Each floor has a guest laundry with washers and dryers which at $2 for each was a reasonable price to do the obligatory mid-holiday wash.

Didn't use the pool on this visit, but from what I remember from last time it was a simple affair in the courtyard at the centre of the hotel and is pleasant enough to lounge around in if you really don't have the energy to head out and do anything else. You do also have the option of using the pools in the Courtyard on Springhill on the same complex.

The hotel is within walking distance of a number of restaurants either in the immediate vicinity or 10 mins walk away at the Crossroads Retail area just the other side of the I-4. This time we only really used the Bahama Breeze just across the car park out of the nearby places, mainly because it is awesome, but also because this time we wanted to explore further than we had done on our last visit. To that end, we decided to take a walk to Downtown Disney, rather than drive and discovered that at a moderately leisurely pace it's about a 30 minute walk, which is pretty handy if no one in your party wants to drive but you want to experience the restaurants in the Downtown Disney. The other plus of this is that you can walk to Downtown and then catch the Disney buses to any of the resort hotels which gives you the flexibility to try out the various hotel restaurants and bars without having to pay for taxis.

If I-drive or City Walk is more your thing you can take a 10-15 min walk the other way from the hotel to the Premium Outlet mall and catch an I-Ride trolley up International Drive, or get off at Wet 'n' Wild and take a 10-15 min stroll to City Walk. Due to the I-Ride trolley finishing at 10:30pm this trick only works one way, but a cab from City Walk to the hotel is $30, so it makes a reasonable saving catching the trolley one way.

We had a car for the duration of our stay so I can't comment on the scheduled transportation to the theme parks, but if you have a car you are well placed with easy access to both Disney and Universal, but equally well placed for things to do in the evening if you fancy a drink and don't mind a moderate amount of walking.

So all-in-all a good hotel for those who want somewhere clean and comfy to crash in between the real reason you've gone to Orlando. If I go to Orlando again I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: Some of the 5th floor rooms have in-room safes, if you're more security conscious and don't...

This hotel has had a hard time and well used as it is ideal for people using the parks,One big problem now as we were informed they are starting to charge for parking even though you have paid to stay here.We will not be using this property again when we are in Orlando as there are other properties who do not charge for parking including another Fairfield not far away even the breakfast was not as good as the other Fairfield inns we stayed at during our trip,Jacksonville,Jacksonville beach and Palm coast,They sould try a bit harder especially when they start to charge for parking as they will lose custom

Greetings lesdee Yorkshire,

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Fairfield Inn Marriott Village while you visited Orlando. Your feedback is very important to us. Due to our location, we host a large amount of families and groups visiting Orlando. Effective April 2013, we have implemented a $5 per night parking fee at our hotel. We were one of the last hotels in our area to implement a parking fee.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Marriott Village.

Regards,

The king bed room was very comfortable. I slept very well. The elevator they had me used was kind of tucked away and had a service tray I had to move to access the elevator. It also was a slow one. The staff were quite nice and helpful. They had my invoice slid under my door when I woke up. They however gave me tr invoice for the person right above me. When I to the front desk they apologized profusely and gave extra Marriott points for the mix up. Overall minor issues but the rooms were clean and very comfortable. I slept the best I have in a long time in a hotel of any brand.

I was impressed with the hotel. The shuttle service to Epcoat was complimentary as was the breakfast buffet. The rooms were small but clean and more importantly smelled clean. The air conditioning worked great. The shower and immenities were also very nice. You cannot beat the location and extras for the price.

Our stays at the Fairfield Inn have always been great. Clean rooms, great access to parks & restaurants, a large pool, free breakfast and all for a very reasonable price. We always stay at the Marriott Village because of the great access to everything you need in Orlando. There are numerous restaurants within 2-3 blocks and the outlet mall is within 3 minutes.

Room Tip: Get a room on a lower floor as sometimes the elevators are slow.

We stayed here in Easter 2012 for two weeks. Firstly we chose this hotel as we wanted to be in Downtown Disney area, closer for the park transfers into and out of the Disney parks and wanted somewhere that provided breakfast.

Rooms were basic and clean, beds comfortable and staff friendly. Transfers to the Disney parks could take quite some time because of the busy traffic in the local area and the i4 , 20 mins at times just to Downtown Disney. If you miss the rush hour traffic you can be at Downtown Disney in an easy 5 mins. The hotel didn't do transfers to downtown Disney but you could hop into a taxi for approx $10 (Whisky was our favorite taxi driver, always happy and friendly). From here you could catch the Disney buses. If your looking to be close to WDW i would advise a hotel on the other side on the i4. We have booked our 2014 holiday and have opted to be much closer to Downtown Disney's entrance.
Locally there are a few places to eat all reasonable. There was a cici's due to open across the road which would be great as the on site pizza hut was expensive, but tasty.
Transfers were good. Staff friendly and organised. On time and comfortable.
Breakfast was disappointing really. The whole 14 nights it never changed. Little cold potatoes, tasteless scambled egg, toast, selection of jams, bagels, waffle makers, cereal and apples or an oranges which alternated. Fresh oj was nice. Microwaves there too. Some bought their own beans to heat up and add to their breakfast.
Pool was lovely and quiet, clean and warm. The bar which was next to the pool was never open though.
Its approx 15 minutes walk to the shopping mall and the i trolly stops there too.
Good hotel, location could be better. Transfer to Downtown Disney would be good too rather than just to Disney parks.

We stayed at the Fairfield inn on Canada Ave a few years ago and really enjoyed it so we thought we would use the Fairfield at Buena Vista for our recent 4 night stay in Orlando, I would rate the hotel as adequate nothing to really dislike but nothing exceptional either it really is a " you get what you pay for" basic room, basic facilities, basic food but all clean and tidy as you expect from the Marriott chain

Room Tip: There is a parking charge of 5 dollars per night which is unusual for an American hotel

Greetings SheffieldBlademan,

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback regarding our hotel. It was a pleasure having you as a guest at the Fairfield Inn Marriott Village.
Effective April 2013, a $5 parking fee was implemented at our hotel. The Village was one of the last hotels in the Orlando area to implement a parking fee. Many hotels in Orlando are charging a resort fee that also includes parking.

We look forward to welcoming you back when you travel back to Orlando.
