We (my boyfriend and I) spent 7 nights (April 3-9) in the 60s section of the Pop Century Resort. (My niece and her husband and 2 of their children stayed in the 70s section). Our room wasn't far from the food court, and it was quite near the Hippy Dippy pool. We checked in on a Sunday evening and there was no wait at all. The only disappointment was that when I made the original reservation with Disney, I had requested a room with a king-size bed. Upon check-in, we were told that none were available and had to settle for a room with 2 doubles (albeit much smaller, more like full size). On the walk over to the room, I was impressed with the grounds and the overall layout.....the place is immaculate. The rooms themselves are a little small, but I consider them adequate size for 2 people. There is also a table and 2 chairs, cable TV (lots of Disney), a dresser, a small bathroom with a separate vanity area with a sink, a small safe, an iron and ironing board and a shelf space with hangers for some of your clothing, or perhaps you could store some of your souvenirs on that shelf space like we did. That first night we all went to the food court and purchased the refillable mugs (They are the best investment you can make!!). You can get soda, water, coffee, hot chocolate as often as you like. As for the food court, it really is not as bad as some people say here. Of course you might spend a little money, but after all, you're on vacation. There are several food stations to choose from....Chinese, Italian (try the veggie lasagna), burgers, pastries (try the tie-dyed cheesecake), etc. There is also a shopping area (like a supermarket) where you can purchase such things as salads, yogurt, chips, sandwiches, and much, much more. There is a wide variety of items to choose from that should be able to please anyone. During our vacation we also had breakfast at the food court a couple of times (it seems more crowded during breakfast hours). At Pop, you will also find an arcade area and a pretty decent souvenir shop with the same Disney items you would find at the park. My favorite thing while visiting Orlando for the first time was the convenience and ease of the bus transportation. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus and depending on the theme park and the time of day you go, you may not get a seat.....we had to stand several times, especially at night when returning back to the Pop. The Pop Century is a well kept place, my boyfriend said he saw very early in the morning the maintenace crews power-washing the walls and the pools being cleaned. On our last day there, we strolled around the grounds and took pictures of all the icons. We also had a cocktail at the Petals Bar. So, if you want to stay on property and don't want to spend thousands of dollars, but want the "Disney" experience, I highly recommend the Pop Century Resort. It is clean, comfortable, decent, fun, and you'll feel like a kid again....I know that we will be back to the Pop in the future.
