“Classic Disney!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

My family has stayed at nearly every resort of Disney property, and its this resort that my daughters always ask for. My wife and I do like this resort, but would rather stay at one of Disney properties that is more "full service.." However, just because this is a value resort does not mean Disney is skimping on anything!

This is a great resort and KIDS LOVE it. We always ask for the Lady and Tramp section where each of the building has a GIANT statue of those figures in front. The theming of the resort is awesome. Everything about this just makes you feel good. You can feel the magic from the moment you enter the lobby. The pools are great! We have never had any issue with cleanliness anywhere at Disney and this is no exception. Housekeeping is awesome and goes above and beyond. Of all the hotel foodcourts, this is probably our favorite as well.

The rooms are not huge, but they are super clean, themed well, and very comfortable. The only bad thing about this resort is that bus service can be slow to get to the parks. Other than that, this is a magical place and one we always enjoy when it's our children's turn to pick the Disney resort where we are staying.

We stayed here for 7 days... The place was clean. The pool was perfect for kids. The rooms were basic (no fridge). We found that they were kinda cheap with the shampoo. One little bottle for 4 people. We could hear people flushing in the middle of the night. I read that they had a lot of different activities for the kids during the day but we did not get to participate because we went to the different theme parks during the day. The lineups to speak to the concierge and for check in were long. The beds were also small. I mean 4 people per room maximum. 2 double beds. I don`t know if it`s because I`m used to a bigger size bed, but I had trouble sleeping in a double bed with my wife.

The food court: Always packed! It was hard to get a table. The food was "ok" in taste but missing variety. It was the same menu day after day. The prices were also expensive. It was around 30-40$ for breakfast per day for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids (7 and 10). The kid menu was eggs with sausage... that`s it. No Variety. I usually like to eat out but I couldn`t wait to come home to eat after my trip becaue I was tired of the food there.

Room Tip: We were travelling with my mothers and sisters aswell but they could not find us a connecting room...

First time to stay on a Disney World Resort property. Magic Express is a nice touch, and our bags arrived in short order. We stayed on the main floor of the 50's building # 1. The room is fine for 2 but I think it would be tight for 4, which is the # that Disney says it can accommodate. We found the room very clean and perfect for us.The only noise we heard was from outside, people coming and going to the rooms, and some times people were not considerate of others at late hours. We did open our door and ask people to move along one night. Otherwise we slept fine.
The pools are very clean and warm, and have several lifeguards that are really very diligent about their jobs. The grounds are well maintained, and we even enjoyed the movie nights provided as a way to relax our tired feet and still enjoy an evening of Disney.
The food court can be a nightmare after 8:30am, so early rising is your best option. I think Disney really needs to rip out that dirty, stained carpet in the seating area! Also the food court after the parks close is just a repeat of the morning madness. At other times there are lots of places to sit inside or outside. Outside you can enjoy the birds and grounds.
A few tips: at the ice cream counter you can get milk for your hot drinks if you don't want to use the creamer; need your food items prepared differently? go to the counter and say you need to speak to the chef - he/she will come to talk to you about what you need; lost/forgot your refillable mug? ask for a paper cup or use a bottle from water or juice to get your drink.
Having your purchases sent to your resort is great. No problem do do exchanges or refunds either, if you change your mind. Also if you decide you need to have that item you saw days ago and it isn't available at your resort Disney will get it sent over for you.
Another important perk to being on a Disney resort is medical and pharmaceutical needs. They will help you contact medical insurers, give you your options for medical care, and pay for prescriptions delivered to the resort (you will reimburse them when you pick up the package). This is another detail that Disney does right, and saved us stress.
The bus transportation to and from the theme parks could be a bit better. Maybe wheel chairs and strollers could be on separate buses during peak hours to allow the extra room and time they require. At times not enough buses waiting at park closing was frustrating, and then some buses packed on too many people for comfort and safety in my opinion. Especially at night when the bus drove with passengers packed on and in total darkness, how can that not be a safety issue? Seemed really weird to us. Maybe this only happens at the Value Resorts! If you travel during non peak times the buses are great, and the drivers more relaxed and fun.
We really enjoyed being on a Disney Resort and would recommend others to try it. Part of our package was the Quick Dining plan. We certainly had enough food and choices. Most venders outside the resort accommodated our needs so we were pretty happy with that.
Overall our Disney vacation was packed with fun, thrills, laughter, and many magical moments that will last a life time.

Room Tip: preferred room area saves on time and extra walking, worth the $

We checked into POP century on February 5th with no problems. Everything was quick and great. We headed to the rooms. They are small, but very clean. The resort has a bit of a cheesy factor to it but kids seem to like it. The pools were nice, the food court was great, and the arcade was a lot of fun. This resort is better than the other value resorts because it doesn't share it's buses with other resorts. This makes transportation to and from the parks quick and easy. Overall I would stay there again, but only because we spent so much time in the parks. If you want to spend a lot of time at the resort, try a moderate or deluxe if your budget allows.

Even though the room was quite small, we were not at Disney for the hotel room. Service checking into the hotel was ok, but not Disney quality. The room was clean, and kepy up very well.

Bus rides to and from the parks were very convenient. Never had to wait more than ten minutes tops. Disney is a lot of walking and after a day in the parks we were all exhausted so it was nice to not have to fight with traffic.

The food court type restaraunt was amazing! Much more than I expected. We had breakfast there every morning and one or two lunches. Very well organized and high quality food. Make sure to buy the souvenier cups to use every day. Well worth it.

I was really on the fence about doing the Disney Dining plan, but it was the best decision that we made. We did the one quick service, one snack, one sit down meal per person and not only was it great, it was way too much food!! Abouly halfway through the week my husband and I found that the smartest thing to do was split a quick service meal for breakfast and a quick service meal for lunch, then use our snacks as we pleased. Otherwise we both ending up throwing away half our meals. They just keep a tally of how many you have left so this was easy to do. We ending up having a couple snacks left the night before we left, so just went a grabbed a couple things to use them up. Again, do the Disney Dining plan, you will not be dissapointed!

Don't forget to make reservations at any sit down restaraunt that you want to go to, before you leave for your vacation. They fill up fast.

This not a five start hotel, but a nice, comfortable place to rest after an exhausting day.

Room Tip: You can request to have rooms near each other if travelling as a group.

We stayed three nights total at Pop Century in early February before and after a cruise on the Disney line. We choose this value resort with the winter room discount as we were already splurging on the cruise. Both times we were in the 90’s section, once pool side 3rd floor the other not pool side 2nd floor. I don’t recommend pool side if you want to get any rest (I had been warned of this but didn’t think it would be that bad, I was wrong). Large groups of teenagers were singing in the pool till midnight. As well some inconsiderate neighbors who checked in during the night were loudly visiting outside their room. That being said our non pool side room was much better, quieter and no activity in the night. Both rooms were clean and comfortable enough for our short stays. We only slept in the room and were at the parks the balance of the time. This particular building is close to the Disney transportation. It is a bit farther from the food court but not too bad a hike. The food court here can be a bit of a zoo. For a short stay Pop Century is adequate and you can’t beat the price. I wouldn’t stay again though as I prefer the atmosphere of a deluxe resort.
