The renovations are very nice and give the restaurant a very intimate feel. The staff makes each and every diner feel important and they continually address you by name throughout the evening. The view and service are amazing. The food is elegant, but very tasty with substantial portions. My husband had "she crab" soup which he raved about and I had a special appetizer which consisted of 6 chilled shrimp and some chilled, split crab legs with additional salmon in between them. For the entree, my husband had the Wahoo which was incredible. I had the surf n turf (5 oz lobster and 5 oz filet) which was also very good. The dessert choices are many and they have gluten free for those who so desire. We tried a sorbet (ornage/cherry) that is made there daily and is amazing. I ordered the bananas foster which is prepared tableside and heaped over two large scoops of very rich vanilla ice cream and was excellent.
A standard mixed drink was $8.00 and the bill for the above would have been $140.00. However, Travel Zoo ran a coupon for $69.00 - I think its still going on. Coupon expires August 31st - for $69.00 we got two appetizers, two entrees, and two desserts. Any drinks are your responsibility plus there is a mandatory 20% tip but that is all spelled out in the voucher. Travel Zoo also offered a dinner for four for under $130.00 (if I remember correctly).
This is a dining experience. It is served in true courses and is meant to be an evening out so don't go here if you are in a rush. It is a relaxing evening.
A couple of things you need to know. Men must wear a jacket and the parking garage will not accommodate trucks. That means parking on the street (which is plentiful) but you need to bring change for the meters or you will get a $22.00 parking ticket.
Helpful hint: Make a reservation at a time you can watch the sunset while you dine and ask for a window table. It makes the experience far more intimate.
