“Lovely Time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

We had a lovely time staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in October for our girly holiday. Was really different to most of the hotels on offer due to it being part game reserve! The lobby had huge windows and over our stay we saw loads of bird, giraffes and other African wildlife. As the name suggests, it is closer to the Animal Kingdom park than the others, but we used the disney transportation to get around and found it to be quick and relaible. The room was perfect and had everything we needed (plus, every Disney channel known) the staff were all lovely and can not be faulted! We would all love to come back!

This was our first visit to the Animal Kingdom Resort. We found the employee service and room to be excellent. Dining options and food quality left much to be desired. Guests are better advised to go to a nearby off grounds restaurant.

Check-in at 4 and its past 4 and our room is still not available. Very disappointed!! Went to check-in and after standing there for 10 minutes for them to talk to housekeeping, found out it would be another 15 minutes.

I travel a lot and have stayed in a number of luxury hotels. For the price, I can say this place was good, not GREAT. The room was kind of small, but clean with no bugs (which is an accomplishment for Florida). I would have preferred to have a microwave, but I think that is Disney's way of trying to get you to buy the meal plans. There was a refrigerator. As far as the animals--the first day it was novel to see the giraffes, zebras, cattle, and various birds (including the pink flamingos by the hot tub), but if I had to do it again, I might choose a property with more fun amenities. I've stayed all over Orlando for visits to Disney, but this was my first Disney resort. Advantages to staying at the Disney Resort include the Extra Magic hours (which I never used), frequent (about every 20 minutes) bus transportation to everywhere, hotel activities (generally geared for the younger folks), big pools, pool side movies. Primary disadvantage is price--and then there is getting stuck in the property and not really getting out to see the rest of Orlando. Also, I'm a runner and while they had a nice fitness center, I'm not much of a treadmill person. The location of Animal Kingdom Lodge is not good for running--you could run on the road, but considering the speed limit is 40+ MPH, I was a bit reluctant to do so. Oh, and no free breakfast, but the WiFi was free

We loved our stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge - how wonderful to wake up every morning and step out onto the balcony and see zebras, giraffes, and ostriches. The staff was always super courteous and quick to greet you every time you returned to the hotel. The room was very clean and each day the cleaning staff would have really creative arrangements for our daughter's stuffed animals and toys. We loved the pool and the atmosphere of this hotel. We felt like we were on an African Safari! Our only complaints were the beds could be hazardous to your shins when you bump into them and that the TV's did not have Disney Jr on them. How can Disney not have Disney Jr? Go figure!

We just returned from a stay at Disney's animal kingdom. We booked a standard room and to our surprise upon our request we were upgraded to a room with a balcony with all the animals outside our slider. We had giraffe's, Zebra;s and you name it every morning. Its surprising how clean they are kept. There is staff out there cleaning up the poop the minute it happens. No odor no flies and very quiet. You would think they would make noise but they do not make a sound. They keep those guys and gals very very clean and they are very happy being able to roam throughout the property. The room was clean and comfortable and they provide a fridge. The check-in was flawless and very quick. The staff was very courteous and very friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade we have found Disney to be very accommodating if they have a better room availabl...

I have an excellent stay at Disney wilderness Lodge after a four day cruise with Disney. We had originally booked a standard room, but were graciously upgraded to a savannah view. The savannah view was awesome, however I would not pay the regular rate for the Savannah room view. They have multiple viewing stations located throughout the resort and the view is not worth the full price. The brunch located in the hotel was excellent. No complaint about this day!
