“Disney made our dreams come true!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

In June 2011, We stayed at Bay Lake Tower for a week with our daughter and her family. Everything about this accommodation worked for us as a family. It was definitely the money. We walked to the Enchanted Kingdom first thing in the morning and enjoyed the first hours with hardly any lines or waiting. Both of the bedrooms were five-star; we took the king bed with the jacuzzi and the "kids" took the two queen beds with full bath. Our daughter had a bathroom of her own in the hallway. [2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms] Then there was a washer and dryer for clothes maintenance as well as a balcony to view the light show at night on the lake. The pool with water slides just outside.

My husband and I were skeptical about the "dream" business before we went; but, Disney lived up to their reputation. The trip was not free of "bumps", but Disney customer service was impeccable - their employees know how to make things right. We had the most stress-free, fun time...the best memories!

Stayed at BayLake June 2011 with 3 grandchildren and revisited this past week with the last grandchild. As always, convenient to everything-kept spotless-great customer service-Pool area just perfect for adults & kids. We enjoy that we can watch the fireworks and water parade on the decks and then go to our suite, where it is quiet and peaceful. Monorail is very convenient from there and so is the bus service. Have stayed on the first and fourteenth floors and enjoyed each for a different reason. We are not DVC members so we haven't enjoyed the restaurant or top floor there. We tried many different attractions this time and enjoyed as much as last time. The Wave at the Contemporary is a very nice restaurant where children feel comfortable. All four of our grandchildren enjoyed the attention they were given.

Room Tip: As stated had a one bedroom on first floor - great for 3 children-so near the elevators and pool. Tw...

This Resort is well worth the money! There are three choices of views at this resort. Standard view, Bay Lake View and Magic Kingdom Park View. We stayed at the park side view and it was great! The room, a studio, had everything you could want. Kitchenette with Toaster, Micro wave, fridge and all your dishes and utensils. The room was large with a big dresser, Table and Chairs, pull out couch and King size bed. Bed was hugely comfortable! We were on the 12th floor and had a balcony overlooking the Magic Kingdom with table and chairs. We sat out at night and watched the fireworks while listening to the accompanying music and vocals on the TV. This is a typical Disney Resort with everything emaculate. Bathroom was a real treat. Checking in and out was a breeze and the 'Cast' are great at what they do. Nothing is left to chance with the disney cast who are well trained and fantastic people, all ready to assist you in any way.

Room Tip: Don't pay extra for a Park side view unless you want to watch the fireworks at 9 pm. If you are...

Bay Lake Tower at Disney World is a Disney Vacation Club property which also rents to non-DVC guests. It is a five-minute walk from the Magic Kingdom front gate, and that alone is enough to make it very special.

We have stayed there four times so far, and here are a few hints.

1. If you love the location but are put off by the modernist/urban style of BLT and the next-door Contemporary resort, consider the Polynesian for Hawaiian vibe, the Grand Floridian for posh southern charm, or the Wilderness Lodge for log-cabin-on-steroids rustic beauty. All of these are a short monorail or boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom.

2. At Bay Lake Tower, in addition to the size of your unit, the price is also determined by location. Magic Kingdom view rooms offer a good view of the nightly fireworks; however we mostly decided to hop over to the park and see them there, so I don't think it makes much difference, myself.

3. A room on a lower floor, near the pool, may be great if your family is going to swim every day. But these rooms can be a bit noisy, with shrieking children on the waterslide etc.

4. Lake view rooms near the marina can also be a little noisy, especially in the early morning when the ferries are running. However, we have found that a lake view room anywhere above the 7th floor doesn't have this problem. Those rooms also offer a great view of the nightly electrical water pageant.

5. Consider dining at The Wave! This great place on the ground floor of the main Contemporary resort is sit-down casual, has an excellent breakfast menu (including a buffet option if you have picky kids...or adults...) and emphasizes healthy, fresh dishes.

6. DVC members -- if you haven't done this already, do watch the fireworks from the lounge at the top of BLT. They have a nice little tastings menu and a good wine list, as well as all kinds of frou-frou sticky drinks. We quite often went there and had a light supper and then went out on the balcony; great way to unwind!

My family and I had a great stay. Our daughter is 4 years old so we wanted to say at a hotel close to the parks. The monorail gets you to Magic Kingdom and Epcot with ease. It was nice after a long day to just hop on the monorail and go back to your room and rest. Especially with a 4 year old in tow. The monorail actually goes to the Contemporary Resort but its a easy walk from Bay Lake.

The rooms and the hotel were well kept and very clean. The staff was very friendly. We wanted to do Chef Mickey but it was sold out. The cafe at the contemporary has good food. My wife liked the shops at the Contemporary.

At the end of the day you can go back to your hotel and watch the fireworks going off at Magic Kingdom. Its a great show!

The bus service to Animal Kingdom and Disney Studios was fast and easy. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel.

We only went swimming once but it was nice. Has a great slide. The life guards were doing a great job controlling the kids.

Only small negative about the hotel is that there is no cafe or bar at the hotel. We had to walk to Contemporary for anything we needed. (There is one restaurant at Bay Lake but you have to be a Disney Club Member to eat there)

Overall this is a great hotel. Very plain looking but thats why its "Contemporary." Staff was very friendly and the place was very clean. You pay more to stay close to the parks but with my 4 year old it was well worth the price.

We recently stayed here for 2 nights in room 8128, this was a deluxe studio room with a Theme Park View.

The room is perfect for two with lots of storage space and a great little kitchen area.

The view was fantastic especially to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks show.

Our room was close to the connecting bridge to the Contemporary hotel.

I would stay here again it's perfectly located to visit the parks and other resort hotels.

The lounge at the top of the hotel is really lovely and the cocktails are great!

In September we stayed for 7 days/6 nights at the Bay Lake Towers with our daughter and her family. Two years earlier we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. Our check-in went smooth at the Wilderness Lodge; however we were very disappointed in the check-in at the BLT. Not only was our reservation messed up so we couldn’t visit any of the parks that first day nor was our room ready until nearly 5:00 p.m. We were basically stuck in the lobby with 3 very tired grandchildren.

The Monorail was great with the exception of the three times it broke down. One of the times that it wasn’t running was when we were drenched from a rain shower at magic Kingdom. There wasn’t any other transportation to the BLT, (we also found out that the smaller boats don’t run when it rains) so we ended up walking back to the BLT. Our granddaughter, who was cold from being rain soaked as we all were, asked us where the magical towels were.

Our grandchildren’s aunt sent them a package via UPS while we were there. Another inconvenience when we went to the front desk to pick it up, we found out that they don’t accept packages. We had to go to the convention center and pay $5.00 to get it.

The rest of our stay was very enjoyable.
A Little bit of Heavin
