Overall Nickelodeon Family Suites was a very nice place to stay. Nothing can beat staying on Disney Grounds .. but this is the next best thing. The Suites were much bigger than I expected. Plenty of room for the 5 of us. TV's in each room. Getting around was easy, always someone available to help. The breakfast is a must. The pool was great .. and the movie by the pool was cool. The pool was always clean .. plenty of towels .. and help if you need it.

I was disappointed the bar by the pool was not open at night (only on Fri and Sat). My kids loved swimming at night .. especially after a tiring day at the park ... I would have enjoyed a drink while I watch them.

The "kids eat free" deal wasn't really a deal. The adult would have to spend $15 a meal for a child to eat free. You can't buy a burger and have a child get a burger free. We had 3 adults - It would cost us about $50 for lunch for our kids to eat free (the most expensive lunch for 5 of us at Disney was only $30). Pizza and other fast food was average price you would expect on vacation. I thought everything tasted just fine (but I'm from New England).

I also expected the Characters to be hanging out during the entire day (coming in and out) ... not just specific times each day. Due to our other plans .. out of 6 days we were only able to catch up w/ the Characters one day (and we only saw Dora, Blue and Chuckie ... Little Bill never stopped for us to see him). The character breakfast you will see Spongebob and Patrick .. the others are hit or miss. We were able to catch the Fairy God Parents.

I was concerned about the Shuttles ... but they worked out ok. Disney Shuttles have the best times. Universal worked out ok .. but if you plan to stay for the boardwalk you will need a taxi home. Seaworld I recommend a taxi. You need a FULL day at Seaworld and the shuttle picks you up before the park closes. Get a taxi and take your time .. you'll need it. Take a late night and get a taxi home and have a late dinner at Magaritaville .. you'll enjoy it. We rushed back for the last shuttle .. I wish we had gotten a taxi that night.

We've stayed at quite a few resorts/hotels/timeshares in the Orlando area, and the Nick Hotel/Suites is definitely the best. Usually, the two bedroom suites are quite expensive, however, surprisingly, we found a great deal for $150 per night (over the Christmas holiday !!!!). This price included a two-bedroom suite, with three TV sets, (one flat screen in the living room), and a small kitchen. The suite was adorable, (decorated in "Fairly-Odd Parents" theme), with a king size bed in the master bedroom and bunkbeds in the kid's room. It was clean, very well maintained, and the service was excellent. The only thing I thought was kind of "un-hospitable" was the hotel's clear attempt to take advantage of SpongBob's popularity with kids by charging $25 exta per night to book a SpongeBob themed room. (The SpongeBob themed room is exactly the same as the other two-bedroom kidsuites, but with SpongeBob painted on the walls). Using kids' love of SpongeBob to squeeze extra money from parents just doesn't seem right to me, even though it's common practice these days.

The public areas were wonderful, completely keeping with the Nick kids' show theme that was prominently dislplayed throughout the property. They had two excellent buffets, where kids eat free (although a little pricey for adults), and a regular menu available as well. The hotel also has a small food court, where you could purchase pizza hut pizza, Starbucks coffee and some other fast food meals.

The game room was large, clean and well maintained (meaning all of the machines worked). They had a small kids-spa too. (Unfortunately, no adult spa). There really was no need to venture off the property, as the hotel offered activites and shows that kept us quite busy for our two day stay. However, if you wanted to go to any of the parks, a free bus shuttle was provided. Of course, the SpongeBob show and SpongeBob party were the kids' favorites.

The property had two huge pool areas, and both had a variety of slides and water activies. By far, the pools at the Nick Hotel are superior to the pools at any of the Orlando hotels (including Disney hotels). It was like having a waterpark at your hotel.

While I would not recommend the Nick Hotel for honeymooners or for any adults traveling without kids, (i.e., don't expect peace and quiet in the restaurants), I highly recommend the Nick Hotel for families. As SpongeBob would say....it was 'the best day ever!!"

My family and I (kids 6,8,10) stayed for 3 nights. The kids absolutely loved it. They couldn't get enough of the swimming, the arcade, and shows. They also liked the fact that they were able to rent and play video games in our room. I must warn parents...my husband and I were a bit bored! Although the kids had a great time (my daughter even got picked to participate in one of the games at the main pool and got slimed), I wouldn't stay here again. I'm glad we got to experience it...it was our first time in orlando. BUT...This hotel is definitely "ALL ABOUT KIDS"...just imagine being at Chuck E Cheese ALL DAY...go to bed, wake up...and you're still there...go to bed, wake up...still there...and repeat (for however long you stay). Ugh! As a parent...that's what it felt like (we didn't let the kids know though). My recommendation...if you really want to take your kids...take them...just don't stay too long (3 nights was more than enough for my husband and I.)

We have 2 children, a boy-12 and a girl-8. My son at first was upset that we booked at a "motel for babies" but as the week progressed he was enjoying himself at the pools and arcade- he could not contain himself. I use an electric scooter to get around, Nick hotel has a shuttle to the major theme parks, bvut I could not fit my scooter on them, So Nick hotel had a private taxi service that is handicapped accessible pick us up and take us there. I really appreciated that more than you know. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be back.

Sorry it took me so long to write this, but I just realized that I never posted a review!
OVERALL:
Your kids will definitely have the slime of their lives. The hotel was created for kids, not adults. Even with their "Nick at Night" area, I would never come to this hotel without kids. The noise level is atrocious. With that being said, here goes:
POSITIVES:
Holiday Inn? I think not. The 2 br suite we had was spotless and spacious. Lots of towels. Air conditioning problem fixed within 20 mins. Incredible customer service, even beyond what we've experienced at higher level hotels. Check in people amazing, friendly and fun. Tons of patience.
Pools and slides big attraction. Web site pictures are worthless compared to actually being there. Games all day in the pool. Lifeguards everywhere working extremely hard.
Big screen, and I mean big, swim up movies. Could actually see the movie from the 6th floor walkway. Staying at this hotel is literally like staying inside of a theme park. If noise is an issue, request the top floor away from the pool. We did this and heard a small amount of noise in the master bedroom and the living room during the pool hours. The 2br kids suites are set up so that the kids room has no window. There is also no door, but a curtain and a notice indicating that a door cannot be placed there. The living room and master bedroom have windows that face the walkway. There are no balconies. There is a kitchenette with microwave, sink and small fridge. Lots of shelving space in the bathroom, but basic area with shower/tub combo.
Washer and dryers available but busy.
Incredible security. Hotel has a video that runs 24/7 reminding kids about security. This video should be a STANDARD at every single hotel to remind not only kids but adults about safety while on vacation. No one is allowed to even visit the property unless staying there. Car issued pass upon check in and wrist bands to use water features. Security patrolled hallways. Hotel quiet in the evening once pools shut down.
On premises general store well stocked, kids spa (mani/ped/hair braiding - with ridiculous prices).
Hotel staff well prepared for storms. Evacuated entire pool area within minutes. Hotel policy: thunder? All pool areas closed. This is something I think every family should take into consideration when booking Orlando during the summer months. When it rains, lightning, thunder, most hotels shut their pools down completely. It was nice having the space to spread out with the tvs, video games and such in the room.
NEGATIVES:
The price is outrageous. If we didn't stay on points, I'd pick one of the suite hotels and take my kids to a water park for the day. The pool area is crowded, and I mean crowded. Lounge chairs are positioned literally one on top of, uh, I mean next to, each other lined up in rows. Tons of pool towels by the cartload at each pool, but you will need tons because each towel is very flimsy and small.
Check in is at 4, and they mean 4, so plan accordingly.
The elevators are extremely slow. We ended up climbing the six flights of stairs on most occasions.
The $10 breakfast buffet is a complete waste of money. It is more like a continental buffet. Plus with the amount of kids there at the buffet unsupervised, well, need I say more about which hand might be going into your food? The lines were very, very long. Right down the street is a Ponderosa buffet. I believe we paid 5 something a person. That buffet was very bountiful. We did the character buffet breakfast which I definitely would not do again. Not very themed, i.e., music wise, compared to other character breakfasts we've attended. Price wise I think it was 30 something a person, also overpriced.
Not a great place if you're a nervous person. We stayed for two days, but it felt like ten. Even my husband who never gets really rattled about anything was ready to pull his hair out from what he saw parents letting their kids do as well as what he saw parents doing (forms of discipline) to their kids. Rather than have the waterpark right in the center of the entire hotel, they would have been better served attaching the waterpark to the hotel. That way there could have been some sort of relaxation at the end of the day, some sort of unwinding. We did talk to a few parents who said they would never return because their kids would not sleep because the level of excitement is just non stop.

    • Tips/Secrets: — Stay for one, maybe two days. Get to hotel super early, leave bags in car. Hotel will issue you wristband. Use facilities. Go back at 4 and check in. On check out day, put stuff in your car. Keep wristband on and head for pool. We stayed until 3pm. We paid for two nights, but really got 3 full days at the hotel. That's plenty.
