“Old hotel but good staff”

Stayed here for 3 days for a work conference. The hotel is very nice and has a wonderful atmosphere. But after a rainstorm there were numerous leaks in the lobby. I also had a problem with my room key not working for the better part of the second day. The staff was amazing though, they went out of there way to help you and were always smiling and pleasant.

The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando is a beautiful hotel. The staff was very kind and helpful. They even served champagne at the check-in desk. Or if you're in a hurry, you can do express check-in. Checking in was prompt and efficient. The hotel has a lot of amentites. There is a daily resort fee, but that covers use of the bikes and boats. It's a lovely hotel with lush, beautiful landscaping. It's easy to manuveur and the views from the rooms are gorgeous. The room itself was a good size and very clean. It was flowerly, but I liked it better in person than I did online. The hotel is extremely close to Downtown Disney. There is plenty to do and it's conveniently located to other restaurants in the area. I didn't care for the menu at the hotel and I thought the food was expensive. My daughter was staying in another room and she took advantage of room service, which she said was wonderful. I'm a bit more frugal so I didn't indulge. All in all I'd rate this hotel as a great place to stay if you want to be near the action but are not staying at the Disney hotels.

“Nice Hotel. Lovely Pool”

Stayed for 4 nights (30 May to 2 June) with my husband. I had requested a king room with lake view on my reservation, but this was not visible upon check-in, so I asked the receptionist and she 'upgraded' me to a room with a view of epcot (to see the fireworks, which is a nice bonus). Room 803 was nice, a fair size with a king bed.

The bed itself wasn't very comfortable as it had far too many (feather) pillows - 6 in total and a duvet sandwiched between two bed sheets, which got very tangled up when sleeping.
We had lunch once at the pool, where the the food was good and the service was just ok. The pool is the great part about this hotel. It's huge with a large 'alcove' area, nice temperature, a number of waterfalls / spa tubs and most importantly it was clean.
Resort facilities - We only tried the driving range (not enough time), which was good, but would have been much better with some overhead cover (the sun was VERY hot).

First Negative : The in-room fridge was locked with no key in sight. We rang down twice for the key, but to no avail. On the first evening upon our return to the hotel we decided to ask reception for the key, which they gave to us straightaway and so we made our way up to our room. Unfortunately, when we returned to our room we realised we had locked our keys in the room, so my husband went down to reception. 20 minutes later, my husband returned, quite furious- reception had asked him for proof of ID (I had booked the hotel in my maiden name). It didn't matter that we had both been to see the same receptionist literally 2 minutes earlier, nor the fact that my husband had left his credit card details at check-in. Even the manager was useless at sorting this out and despite saying they would send someone up to speak to me to confirm who my husband was, no-one actually turned up.

Second Negative : The patio window was extremely dirty, especially on the outside. For a 5-star hotel, I find this quite unacceptable.

The internal walk from the self-parking lot to reception takes you through all the hotel conference rooms, which isn't ideal when you are not staying at the hotel for a conference. On many occassions we had to 'fight' out way through the crowds of people - morning, day and night.

All in all a nice hotel. It's probably only worth the money if you plan on using most of the resort facilities though.

Daughter was bitten at the Hyatt Grand Cypress resort as we were walking through the tropical garden area from the parking lot on June 3rd. Occured on the sidewalk withing 20 feet of the back entrance. This was the second snake that I had seen in two days. Spent the last night of vacation at the ER. Parents, be careful. Hotel claims no responsibility for their snake problem. I even had to file the incident on my insurance, because they called it an "act of God". No apologies, or responsibility from manager Leo, or Dave.
Other than that experience, the pool is fantastic. Air was stale on the upper floors. The hotel itself is showing its age. Air conditioning was terrible in our small double bed room. Maxed out, it was 76 degrees in there during afternoon hours. We had a pool view, fireworks from Disney were decent, but not the highlight of the trip as previously mentioned.
Oh, and DO NOT eat the breakfest buffet at Cascades unless you want to spend major moola. There is a reason why the price isn't listed anywhere. I spent 94 dollars for my family of 4 with one being a 5 year old for a buffet that would come free with a stay at many other hotels. Denny's would be a good alternative.

attended a trade show in orlando and this is where we stayed. They nickel and dime you to death...everything was extra and the food prices at the dining establishments were outrageous. Hotel is looking very old but the staff was friendly and the pool area was outstanding. There are so many newer hotels in Orlando so next time through i think we'll choose one of them.
