“Great Property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

We stayed at the Hyatt Grand Cypress over spring break 2013, it was a great stay!! Let's do the goods first~the hotel staff is very friendly and always ready to answer questions. We had a great room on the 7th floor and the renovations made the space beautiful. Also there was not much of a noise issue, we did hear a few slamming doors and loud people in the hall but it was only once or twice. Loved the shower and lighted mirrors in the bathroom and the bed was very comfortable. Also the shuttles to and from the parks were very helpful. I only wish there was some variation in the times and that there was a shuttle that went to Downtown Disney and the surrounding restaurants. This hotel is near the Crossroads shopping district it would be great to have shuttle stops within that area to allow for travelers to utilize Crossroads if needed. The pools were great although the larger pool was just too cold to swim in so we had to share the smaller warm pool with lots of kids. My daughter loved the beach area and we watched a nice sunset from that area. There is a mini fridge in the room as well as coffee maker and ports for computers, all a plus.
Now the bads~cleaning rooms, we did not get service 2x's during our 5 day stay, on the 2nd time I had to call down to get the room cleaned. The hallway on our last 3 days did not look like it had been vaccuumed which was a bit upsetting with all the food crumbs. As a person with Arthritis I had an issue with the toilet height and no bar to use for aiding me. Also, the pool area did not have enough loungers for everyone, the only way to get a lounger was to go down in the early morning put some personal belongings on a few chairs and hope everyone would respect that. We did not do this but were told by other travelers this was the only way to do it. Now I realize that it would be very difficult for the hotel to get a lounger for every person staying but the ratio to chairs and guest should be better thought out. We did have an issue with being overcharged on our credit card but the issue was resolved it just took a bit. And the final negative for me was there was only one place in the hotel to get breakfast unless you ordered room service (and by breakfast I mean something other thank a pastry and coffee). They have a coffee "shop" with coffee and pastry, why not do as Starbucks does and offer something with protein that is quick. Breakfast sandwiches that you pop into a microwave would be very handy. I am not one that likes to eat buffets for breakfast, so it was disappointing that was the main fair for breakfast options.
Overall the hotel is an low A high B!

Room Tip: If you are able get a room that faces Epcot and Disney so you can see the fireworks each night

Everything about this property is top notch. The valet parking is worth the money and stress. We were not impacted at all by any renovations. The rooms were spacious, gorgeous, modern, clean and quiet. The pool wasn't heated but we did use the hot tub at night which was fantastic as we were the only two in it, under the stars, while another family used a different on to themselves, too. There are a lot of activities to participate in. The only disappointing thing was the Disney fireworks they were quite low on the horizon but we can just imagine how wonderful they likely were at Disney itself. We ordered room service lunch and it was delivered quickly and the portions were large. The breakfast brunch was well worth the money with a vast amount of choice of fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. There is an i-hop just down the street if that is a better choice for you.

I would, without hesitation, stay here again. It was worth every penny and the experience was amazing.

Room Tip: Balcony facing the pool gives an excellent view.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a positive review. From our service to our dining options, we aim to please and we once again hit a bulls eye!! Any time our guests want to view the nightly fireworks, they can go to the large windows on any upper floor. We hope that you will return again soon and please recommend us to your family and friends.

We arrived at the Hyatt at 10:30 pm after a flight delay and were told they didn't have our room. They tried to put us in a living room of a suite with only a pull out bed and a rollaway. I said, "NO". I had booked the room months before. After speaking to her manager, the desk clerk managed to find us a king room (for 3 of us) and said they would move us the next day (of our 4 night stay). I was upset that we'd have to pack up and move again and at that point, the clerk became overly generous...she comped our $13/day self park fee, comped the $22/day resort fee AND gave us a $100 resort credit. When we saw our room....a corner room on the 11th floor overlooking the pool with a view of the fireworks and balconies on two sides of the room, we decided we'd just stay put, rollaway and all. The clerk went above and beyond to fix the problem (which shouldn't have been in the first place) after offering us a laughable solution.

The resort was simply amazing. You could not want for more. I can almost guarantee there is no other resort in Orlando with these amenities other than a top of the line Disney resort, but the Hyatt was much cheaper than a Disney resort!

Room Tip: Definitely a room facing the beautiful pool and lake (and fireworks)!

I am glad that everything worked out just fine for you. We went above and beyond to make sure you were satisfied and glad to know that you had a great time. Our 1500+ acres with all that we have to offer all adds up to value beyond compare. Thank you for letting the Trip Advisor readers know that you stayed at a resort that truly cared about your visit and we hope that when your travel plans bring you back to Orlando, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress will be at the top of your list.

We spent four nights here to visit Disney with the children before heading down to the Gulf. Really pleased with our choice - smart, modern rooms with all comforts, great valet parking service, nice breakfasts and a great range of activities and all withing a few minutes drive of all the parks. Worked very well and for us staying away from Disney makes the whole experience bearable - there's only so much Mickey that we can take in any 24 hour period!
A good choice.

Room Tip: We stayed on 6th floor and it was very quiet - but I got the impression that the whole hotel was pre...

As a Platinum member, I received NOTHING from this hotel. Upon check-in they tell me "As a Platinum Member you get free internet." - well, everyone gets that here anyhow according to the website. So zero for me as a Platinum member at check-in.

Call down for a late checkout on night before departure (I'm entitled to 2:00pm). Nope. 12:30 we need you out of the room.

Our room was clean, but decorated straight out of the 70's.

Also, if you're the least bit afraid of heights, ALL elevators are glass and overlook the exterior or inside courtyard. You have no other option.

The hotel business is about service and this property either has forgotten this or never knew it to begin with.

Stay elsewhere. There ARE much better options. After 2 disasterous stays wih the Hyatt brand, I think I'll cancel my Platinum Visa and Platinum Guest Card and look for another hotel chain that has not forgotten that they are in the service business.

P.S. - The pool area is indeed amazing (but loud and overrun by children and teens).

Dear 360Rosso,

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay in our resort. Feedback from our guests is very important to us as if provides valuable ideas to improve our service and quality. Yes, Spring Break was quiye busy with many families with children ebjoying what Orlando has to offer. Our new rooms do have a retro style that reflects a sleek modern look. I would like to clarify that in resorts, the 2:00 p.m. Platinum check-out time is only available upon availability. With Spring Break and daily occupancy of 100%, we simply were unable to honor your request for which I apologize.

Again, we appreciate having you as our guest and hope that you will give us another try.

Regards,

We had a wonderful fun packed stay at this resort! If you want to visit Orlando but have either already done Disney, Universal, Sea World... or are not interested; this is the resort for you! The resort is 1500 acres, has it's own little lake(non motor sports, kayaking, paddle boats..), tennis, rock wall, 12 acre lagoon pool with catacombs for the kids to explore with 8 waterfalls with a water slide, 9 hole pitch and putt, campfire on the weekends to roast S'mores, a mini man-made beach with volley ball and tether ball, and biking. All of this is included in a nominal $25 resort fee/day/room; you did not have to rent or bring tennis rackets, or golf clubs. Any equipment that was needed was available without additional cost. The resort has been updated with beautiful rooms. The restaurants on the property are yummy and can fit a range of budgets. The Cascades restaurant had "Farm to Table" mentality with healthy "Real Meals" for their kids menu. There breakfast buffet was scrumptious! The only draw back was that they were understaffed for pool side service. Otherwise, all of the staff were very professional and helpful. I would definitely recommend this resort for any family that wants R and R without having to traipse around town to find something to do.

The Hyatt is a total class act. BEAUTIFUL property -- from the waterfalls and glass elevators in the grand lobby, to the elegant pool complete with caves and waterfalls, to the picturesque lake, sandy beach, volleyball, tennis, golf, and sleep hammocks. WOW, and WOW again!!! There is NO WAY any other property in Orlando can beat this -- plus, the price was well below some other upscale resorts. Furthermore, the customer service was A+++ with people going out of their ways to ensure our stay was comfortable. Our daughter has Celiac disease, and the restaurant even comped us some delicious gluten-free fare. The food was beautiful and tasty -- and the coffee was best I've tasted in a long while. We sat by the pool and ordered wine from the cabana servers. Meanwhile, the kids went down the (incredible) water slide, played in the waterfall, met friends and went kayaking, and also ran around on the beach. What a memorable experience! The only regret was that we didn't stay there the entire trip. Next time, the Hyatt is a DESTINATION. THank you, Hyatt, for providing such a perfect getaway for our family.

Room Tip: Ask for the pool view rooms -- you can see the Disney fireworks from the window each night at 10 p.m...
