MGM, as with all the Disney Parks needs careful planning. We went during Christmas 2007 (the busiest time of the year) and still saw every show and got on every ride we wanted to in one day. As there are a few shows you have set aside time to see them, Fantasmic is a must see and if your going to the first show be there 30-45 mins before the start. However, I have never bought a one day ticket as I prefer to pick my days for each Orlando park. But if I did I would do a bit of research on the timings of shows etc. the information is all out there so no use complaining about running out of fastpasses etc. Get there earlier and do the fastpass rides in a sensible order!!!

First the good bits - Rock n Roller Coasters, Tower of Terror, and the
drawing class at the Animation studio. Now for the bad parts - where to begin? First of all forget about Fast Pass which might as well be called Farce Pass - you're only allowed to use it for one ride at a time. We arrived at 10, got a fast pass for Roc N Roller Coaster to return in 2 hours, but in the meantime were not allowed to get another
for Tower of Terror. By the time we'd waited 25 minutes on Fast Pass return to get on the rollercoaster, the fast pass tickets for Tower had run out for the day - and it was only 12.30! We then waited 50 minutes in the standby queue for Tower. So FP doesn't exactly allow you to plan your day at all. Most of the other attractions are tame at
best and waste of time at worst - You'd enjoy queueing for the famous movie ride through the replica Chinese Theatre than the ride itself, and believe me you will be queueing for a very long time in order to see some dumb robots re-enacting scenes from the movies, with some extremely lame human interaction. The back lot tour I discovered was a misnomer as they dont actually make movies there anymore, so I have no idea what the people in the "costume department" were doing. The bit where lots of water comes out is the only excitement you'd see. I thought the Universal backlot tour in California was bad, but at least
it had variety. The Indiana Jones show is fun if you have no idea how films are made; and fantasmia show is fun if you're 10 years old. They
are very good at getting you in the park, but once you;re in they don;t seem to care - there's no one around to give you any
information; restaurants are fully booked in the first couple of hours; and queueing to get a hot dog took 45 minutes - and we went on a cold day "off season"! God only know what it's like in the summer. I first went to the Magic Kingdom over 20 years ago and got the impression they only wanted to sell you overpriced food and souvenirs and i see this is still the case. Unlike Seaworld or Kennedy Space Centre Disney's kingdom has no educational value and appears to be exercises in pure greed. Victim of it's own success or not I will not go to another Disney attraction again.

I love themed everything, so Disney is perfect for me. I had a blast at MGM. The Tower of Terror, which I had always been scared to go on before, and the Aerosmith rollercoaster, which was new to me, were both awesome. It's just the little details that Disney puts into everything that make it. Of course, everything's overpriced, but you just have to expect that. But who can put a price on ambiance? Oh, Disney, right. Whatever, I still had a great time!

The Disney MGM was a nice park in October. Not real big, but lots to do if you take the time to do it. Of course everyone goes to Tower of Tower which was fantastic as always. I recommend the fast pass to get in line. With that, we were on in only five minutes. The Indiana Jones Spectacular was excellent. They do a tremendous stuntshow that takes your breath away. The Backlot Tour really wasnt very good. They didnt show much and basically it seems if they were just trying to kill time. Skip it. We ate at the Prime Time Cafe, which is modeled after a 1950's kitchen and the servers act like your parents! The food is 1950's fare such as Meatloaf, Pot Roast, etc... Our sever was Tommy and he was great. We also watched the High School Musical production...it was just okay. It was a nice park, but Universal had more to do.

All the interesting bits I remembered from previous trips years ago had gone when we visited in September. There was hardly anything to see apart from the few larger rides/shows which haven't been updated. Everyone was just walking around the shops and restaurants until queueing for the next show started.
Considering Universal is only up the road, I'm surprised that the MGM Studioes haven't been revamped to keep pace with the better film theme park.
