“Very nice rooms - a great disney resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2014

Unlike most other Disney World resorts, you can park just outside your villa. Good grocery stores and restaurants are just a 5 to 8 minute drive away. Large, very comfortable suites with washer and drier, full kitchen. Very convenient Disney Bus transportation. First class - enjoyed it as much as Grand Floridian and Wilderness Lodge, where we stayed on our last 2 WDW trips.

Room Tip: we stayed in building 47 - a long walk from the main pool, but a one minute walk to the first bus s...

All the comforts of home but at Walt Disney world. Eat in your own kitchen or enjoy breakfast at Olivia's. Great pool & favorite hangout the Gurgling Suitecase. Hop on the bus & Disney world is minutes away. The best vacation spot for families, we do our family reunion there & always have a great time in this Key West themed resort. Like everything else that Disney foes, it's first rate.

Room Tip: Try for a room near one of the several bus stops as well the Hospitality House.

We have stayed at OKW many times and keep returning. It is my sons' favorite Disney resort. After a busy day at the parks, it's always nice to have a little down time. The rooms are spacious, compared to many other vacation club and hotel rooms. They have been recently renovated adding granite and wood flooring and new bedding. The pool and sand area are always a favorite for my sons along with the Community House and campfires. This resort isn't nearly as busy and crowded as others (Beach Club, Boardwalk). It retains a beachy-feel and it's very easy to get around, especially with parking right outside your room.

Room Tip: Main floor rooms are best with a stroller.

Our first on site stay. Very spacious one br villa. Fully equipped kitchen with washer and dryer. Balcony.

You really need to watch location though. We were initially in block 51 right next to the bus turning point. We were awoken first thing in the am with the engine running for an eternity before the buses pulled away. Golf course view but 6 am lawn mowing. We were moved with no problem to block 46 and a top floor. Fantastic!

Most 1 br have a studio attached so the sound proofing for next door can be pretty poor. I would say the same if you are on the ground floor. My parents and aunt had a top floor 2br and was superb!

Pool area is lovely. It I thought quite limited sun loungers for such. Large resort. Beach towels available at pool. X2 quieter pools elsewhere in the resort but no slides here. They had movie nights by the pool with classic disney films which was really nice in the cooler evenings. During the afternoon cast members did pool games with the kids which seemed fun.

Eating on site is pretty limited but we found Olivia's to be friendly, with excellent service and tasty food. Fluffiest pancakes I've ever eaten! The counter service was a bit meh, but served its purpose for lunches and pool snacks. We were on DDP so cost not so much of an issue.

Cast members in reception were superb, we had some issues with our outgoing flight and they were super helpful.

We enjoyed it so much we're heading back.

We stayed at this resort for our first trip as Disney Vacation Club members. We were in a deluxe studio room, which had two queen beds and wet bar area with a microwave, mini refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, and small sink. Paper plates, bowls, and plastic ware were included and there were glasses and coffee cups. They had coffee packets with sugar, creamer, and stirrers. The bathroom was large enough to comfortably turn around in. The toilet, sink, and tub shower are all together vs. having the sink separate from the toilet and tub shower at the other resorts. We had a small porch off our room with two chairs. There was an ironing board, iron, safe, and pack and play in the closet.

The only thing negative I have to say about our particular room is it could definitely use some updates to the light switches, as the plates appeared to be warped and coming apart from the wall. The tile in the bathroom could stand to be re-grouted and sealed. New carpet or laminate flooring would not hurt either. Old Key West is the oldest vacation club resort so some the dated light plates, carpet and tile is understandable. Maintenance on some of the buildings appeared to be progressing, so perhaps they will be working on all the buildings one by one.

If you happen to be staying near the Hospitality House, the bus stop for here is the last one on the route. It takes approximately 15 minutes from the time you enter the hotel property to make it around to each bus stop. If you are healthy and have strollers for your tired kids, getting off at Peninsular Row and walking to the rooms across from Hospitality House is much quicker than riding through out the entire property for 15 minutes. Pick up for the parks is also last and seats may not be available. They have an internal bus that picks up and drops off at all the bus stops at the resort. If the hospitality house stop was designed better, it would make more sense for all people to be dropped off here and be distributed via the internal resort bus...but this is just a personal point of view.

The closest ice machine for the rooms near the Hospitality House is by the pool, which is a considerable walk. Ice machines at each building would be more preferable and convenient. There are ice machines at the other bus stops in the resort, except for Hospitality House.

All 1 bedroom and up deluxe villas have washer/dryers in the rooms. There are laundry facilities at the main pool and at the other pools on property, I believe. Just a heads up, the laundry room at the main pool only has two washers and four dryers. So if you only stay in the studios, it's a hit or miss to be able to get your clothes washed/dried when you want.

All of the cast members were wonderful and very knowledgeable, when I had questions. Overall, our experience was great and we will definitely return!

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. The grounds were beautiful and we had a beautiful room with simple decorations that lent itself to a relaxing atmosphere. We love Disney, but it was nice to go somewhere at the end of the day that didn't scream "YOU'RE IN DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!" We loved the pool, the bar, and the gift shop. The quick service could have offered a few more options...but other than that it was great! We especially loved the boat to down town Disney. It was a nice ride and the boat captains were always fun!

Room Tip: Pick a room near the Hospitality house if you think you may want to visit the main pool, or restaura...

We stayed in June 2014 for 3 nights in a 1 bedroom villa. This was the best room that we have stayed at on Disney property. There were 3 of us so my wife and I had or own bedroom and our son had his own space. Kitchen, washer and dryer in room were great. It's always good to travel home with clean cloths!

The pool was smaller then other places that we have stayed but was fun just the same. The restaurant was pleasant and the staff were very pleasant.

Travel to the parks and downtown Disney were very quick and the boat ride option to DTD was very relaxing.

We would definitely recommend!
