Old Key West is one of the older Disney resorts, but its also one of the nicest! They have the biggest rooms I've encountered on Disney property, and the whole resort has a very relaxing vibe. The pool is very nice, with a large slide. You can take a boat or walk right to Downtown Disney, which is an added bonus. Really very nice, relaxing resort.

Room Tip: First floor rooms allow you to have ducks and bunnies come right up to the room

We stayed in building 14 in a one bedroom on the third floor. It was challenging to get our luggages up to the room because there is no elevator, so we lugged 10 pieces of luggage up 3 flights of stairs. The room itself was very nice. Old Key west has the most spacious rooms on Disney property so space was not an issue. it was set up as a one bedroom house. My only complaint about the room was that there was not two bathrooms like one bedrooms that DVC offers. the bathroom was great, with a 2 person Jacuzzi and a separate stand alone shower. The main swimming pool is the only one we swam at because of its greatness. the water slide was as good if not better then any other water slide that I've encountered at a resort. the quick service restaurant was only a walk up with outside seating. i would have liked to see a place to sit down inside and cool off like other quick service restaurants but oh well. Overall this resort had a very relaxing feel and was pretty impressive.

1st time here and used our DVC membership for 4 days. 6 people in our party but it's 2 stories and large enough to accommodate a whole lot more. The bedrooms were great with a balcony overlooking the golf course. Clean and cozy just like you want a home to be be and the bus stop was less than a minute's walk. By bus, Typhoon Lagoon is a really short ride away. Other parks were farther away but it's still easy to work with. The main pool was a bit of a walk but we had a smaller one nearby. Parking right out front and driving to areas outside the resort was simple with a option to take the ferry to Disney Downtown.
Compared to other Disney resorts, I'd say this one has the most vegetation, there are all kinds of plants, trees and bushes everywhere and they do a great jobs maintaining it all.
We had breakfast at Olivia's the 1st day and it was good, then explored the area while waiting for our room to be ready. Entire staff was friendly and helpful which made going home hard but it's all part of what made our stay special.

Once again we visited this resort and we chose well, from start to end this was a perfect resort. As many of the people who stay at old key west are DVC members meant they had their own cars and thus 9 times out of 10 got a seat on the bus. As the other Disney resorts always had long queues especially after the fireworks. This resort is close to EPCOT, Hollywood studios and Typhoon Lagoon meaning less time travelling to the parks. With the room itself we couldn't fault it, light with plenty of space and huge beds! As we were their for three weeks it felt like home just what we wanted. Amazing views of the golf course that runs through this resort, which meant a change in scenery but still private at the same time. I would overall highly recommend this resort for its laid back atmosphere, quiet pools and the wow factor! Also a quick fact, its the smallest resort but takes the most land, which shows just how much space this place has got (we have stayed in Disney's All-star movies before and this is the juxtaposition) Overall I cant wait to return!

Room Tip: Blocks 19-22 are in a quiet area with a close bus stop and a great pool!

Like most resorts, I found Disney’s Old Key West to have both positives and negatives. First we are a family of five and stayed in room 2621, a one bedroom unit near the hospitality house for 7 days. Overall I enjoyed our stay.
The Positives - the room was spacious and can accommodate five in a one bedroom. The living room area has a sleeper sofa for two and a chair pullout for one. With all of this it was not cramped in any way. OKW has the largest rooms out of the Disney Resorts. The bedroom was also spacious and comfortable. Like the other DVC properties there is a full size washer and dryer. There is a large balcony with a table, chairs and even a ceiling fan. The bathroom area has two sections. One with a large jetted soaking tub. There is also a sink. The other room has a shower, toilet and sink.
The resort, true to its name, has a very laid back feel to it which I enjoyed. We only went to the pool near the Hospitality House which was good. The large sand castle has a water slide inside which was surprisingly fun, even for big kids like me. During the day they have activities around the pool and at night there are movies under the stars and a bon fire.
The Hospitality House is where most everything is. Olivia’s is the table service restaurant, which was decent. Goods to Go is the quick serve, which was good and is located right across from the pool on the boardwalk. Next door is the Gurgling Suitcase bar, which is rather small. Still not a bad place to pop into when the kids are in the pool. They had specialty drinks, bottles and a few drafts there. I’m trying to recall the drafts, I think Sam Adams, Blue Moon, either Coors Light or Bud Light, Key West Larger (a local draft) and possibly one or two others. We were able to finds groups of seats around the pool on most days. The grounds were clean and very well maintained. The gift shop and market had most everything you might need.
Out of three DVC locations that I have stayed at, the staff at OKW was the best. Amy at the concierge was especially helpful. In addition I liked the location. Enjoyed the option to take the boat to downtown. The buses are hit and miss but we were lucky as we never had to wait for a bus when heading back to the resort. Waiting to leave the resort wasn’t bad. The resort is spread out and there are several stops within the resort (5 maybe). It could take 10 minutes to get out of the resort once you are on the bus. There was a stop outside our unit which was stop #1. What was good about our location was if we just missed the bus we had time to take the short walk across the bridge to the Hospitality House stop and catch the same bus at its last stop.
There is a boat rental onsite that looked fun, however we didn’t get to try it. The boardwalk area at he Hospitality House has the quick serve restaurant, a very small game room, and a community center which has activities for the kids and a pool table. If it rained at night they moved the outdoor movie to this area. There is also a coin operated washer and dryer near the pool if needed.
The Negatives - I won’t go as far as others have and say the resort is outdated. Our room was one of the older ones. Units 1 to 30 are older than 31 and above. Again we had a one bedroom. A problem that I had was, the entrance to the bathroom is in the bedroom. So if someone sleeping in the livingroom area had to use the bathroom they have to go through the bedroom to get there. I believe the newer units have a separate entrance to the bathroom. Not a big deal but I would prefer having the privacy. There is a golf course outlining the resort. Problem with this is they mow and maintain the course very early. I didn’t need my alarm clock because the mowers woke me every morning. If you like to sleep in and are not an extra morning hours person ask for a room away from the course.
All in all I enjoyed the stay and I would stay there again but would prefer to stay at a few other locations that we have not visited first. Feel free to ask any questions, I’m happy to help.

I will be more succinct in my review since this is our second time staying at OKW. Old Key West is the most spacious of the DVC properties. You will not lack for large rooms and bathrooms with plenty of closet space. We booked a two bedroom villa for five adults and 2 kids. They have a convenient twin size sleeper sofa that my daughter always likes to sleep in plus a queen size sofa for grandma and the second room with 2 queen size beds for the aunties. My husband and I had the comfort of our own master suite. I think that the best way to enjoy a stay at OKW is to be on a first floor villa by the hospitality house. The convenience of both with enhance your stay. Last year we stayed at a villa by Miller road which was way too far from everything and as others have mentioned transportation can be hit or miss. We were able to walk to Olivia's for lunch (excellent) or Good's to go for snacks (average). You feel more connected the closer you are and the transport makes things so much easier with elderly parents and young kids. What OKW has in size is lacking in the outdated 1980's decor. The bathrooms are especially in need of updated tile work, hardware and faucets. The microwave had obvious stains that are unable to be cleaned and rather replaced. The advantage is the location to downtown disney and the parks.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a Disney split stay. We're not DVC members so did plenty of research beforehand as to the best buildings available and requested building 18, which we got.
As there are only two of us, we opted for a studio, which was very spacious compared to other Disney properties we've stayed in. The room was a little tired, the AC unit was very noisy and impossible to use at night. Fortunately the studio had a small balcony, and the french doors were great to let in the breeze. There was a small kitchenette, with fridge, microwave and coffee maker which is perfect for us as we just need somewhere to prepare a quick breakfast. Overall, I would say the room was due a rehab, but nevertheless it was still very clean and comfortable.
The resort is very relaxing but it's very big. We were close to the Miller's Road bus stop which is the last pick up before hospitality house, it's also only 5 minutes to walk from HH. I'm not sure I would have been so complimentary about the resort if we hadn't been so close, one night we stayed on the bus and really saw how massive the resort was and how far away some of the buildings are from the main building and pool.
Disney bus service was great, and it's nice to catch the boat to Downtown Disney too. We've stayed in a few other Disney resorts and found this one to be one of our favourites - definitely going back again soon!
