“Great value for DVC members”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

We are DVC members and have stayed at nearly all of the DVC properties at WDW. Although Old Key West is the oldest of the DVC properties, we enjoy staying there because the villas are the most spacious. The master bath is huge, and the living area is a nice size. For the number of points it "costs" per night, it is a great value. The pool area isn't the best, and it's not the most convenient to the parks, but we stay here at least once a year. You can rent boats at the marina or hop on the water taxi that takes you to Downtown Disney. Some of the units have a view of the golf course, and you can almost always see some sort of wildlife while enjoying your morning coffee on the balcony. The bus service (like at any WDW resort) can be slow at times so I recommend driving your own car to the parks (you can park for free at the parks if you show your resort parking pass).

This is one of our favorite resorts in all of Disney. So much so that we purchased a DVC contract here so we come back again and again. OKW really does have a slower pace to it than any other resort at Disney. It still has the little Disney details that you expect, but things just feel more relaxed here... which is a big plus at the end of a long day. Quiet and relaxing.
But that's not the best thing about this resort... without question, the best reason for staying at OKW is the size of the rooms! Huge (compared to other Disney resorts). We have stayed in a studio (with TWO queen beds) and a 2-bedroom villa. This year we had 8 people with us in a 2-bedroom and there was space for more. Never felt cramped or confined. The large kitchen made it easy to cook dinners (to save money) and the washer and dryer was a really nice feature.
We plan to return to OKW in the near future!

We stayed here in May 2013 for 9 days. This is the second time we have stayed here and again it was excellent.

It is a very laid back, chilled out resort with all the Disney charm.

We stayed near the turtle pool which is quiet and ideal for chilling out. The only slight downside here is the snack bar which is not as varied as the one near hospitality house but this did not cause us any real problems.

The location of the room was ideal for the transport too which were were efficient and on time. never had to really wait any length of time.

Staff very friendly and welcoming.

Olivias - had 3 amazing meals in here and the Key Lime Pie is still a favourite of mine. I love it.

We will be back!

We have stayed at Disney's Old Key West several times. We reserved a 2 bedroom with dual access to the master bathroom due to having my daughter's boyfriend along on this trip with us and he was sleeping on the fold out couch in the family room and shared the master bathroom with my husband. The two bedroom is the size of a nice apartment. As you enter the room, ahead is the family room which can easily seat 7 to 8 on the chair, couch and love seat. There is also a table that seats 4.There is a full kitchen that opens into the family room with refrigerator, dishwasher and a good sized storage place with a counter on top to the side. This room also opens onto a balcony. In the first bedroom, there are two queen beds, television and two dressers along with 2 closets. The bathroom has a sink, toilet and tub with shower in it and outside of the bathroom door there is another vanity. The master bedroom is huge and also has a door that goes out to the balcony. The master bath has a separate area with a huge spa tub and a vanity and closet. Through the bathroom door is a toilet, large shower stall and a large vanity area with a sink. There is also a laundry room with a washer and dryer. As I said before we requested a room with dual master bath entries and the second entry is through this laundry room. This room was spotlessly clean.
We were warmly greeted at check-in and the whole process went very smoothly as I had done online check-in before leaving. Parking was very convenient to our room and usually we had a parking space directly in front of our sets of rooms. We were on the third floor, so noise was definitely not an issue. We also had a very convenient bus stop right at the end of our cul de sac. We love Old Key West and have always had very good to excellent rooms and service each time we have stayed there.

LOVE OKW. Our 3 bedroom / 4 bath villa was very spacious with a full sized laundry room and modern kitchen. The buildings and grounds are reminiscent of Key West and the pool area, gym, and Olivia's Restaurant are all well maintained, clean and have excellent food. The staff kept our kids busy with crafts and games during a thunderstorm that closed the pool. We can't recommend it enough!

we stayed at Old Key West for a week in march and we were blown away by the room size of a one bedroom villa! needed a road map to get around the room! lol but we have stayed at saratoga springs and caribbean beach and both places have a large common are with indoor dining, old key does not. their walk up counter is a joke there are only 8 tables for one of the largest resorts on property... their table service place "olivias" is pretty good food, we just had bad service when we ate there. if that is not a big deal to you then you should def. stay there because it is beautiful and spacious and many rooms overlook a gorgeous golf course or turtle pond. but also be prepared to walk a lot becuase the lobby is at the front and many rooms are almost a mile away walking if you dont want to wait for a bus.

Room Tip: turtle pond is nice because of the view and its centrally located. if getting a 1 br villa ask for a...
