We visited Magic Kingdom as a family with 13 and 10 year old boys and had a good time. For young children it is a magical place. The parades, character meetings and fantasy style rides would appeal greatly to young ones.
However for older children and teens there aren't many thrill rides to wow them. There are a few good rides such as Space Mountain, Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad but a majority of the attractions are aimed for a younger group. Yet some of the smaller, more scenic rides such as It's a Small World are peaceful and calming to go on.
The queues on our visit were okay but the Fastpass system was effective and time saving. It's important to use the Fastpass system to ensure an enjoyable day as queues can exceed an hour. Generally early on queues are short so go to the park at opening time which is 9 o'clock. However the park gates can open earlier at peak times. Be aware that when 'magic hours' are operating, unless you are staying at a Disney Hotel, the park will already be full at 9.o'clock.
Eating prices are fairly reasonable and the food is of a fairly good quality. Some eating places do get quite busy so try to avoid the peak times.
For us, the day was enjoyable. We felt the magic of the park and the staff's cheerful attitude covered up the fact that the rides weren't too thrilling. All-in-all, it is worth visiting the park, especially if you have young children with you.
