I am not going to go into detail about all of the parks, simply because you've probaly heard approxamatly a thousand times. I have only bee to one park, EPCOT, and I thought it was cool. Lines? It's called fastpass. TIP: go just before christmas (went there and there was practaclly no one there).
The only problem is the prices. For the amount you spend on a disney world vacation you could buy a small country. I would perfer to spend it somwhere else. I recenly went on a two week vacation to alaska for the amount of money you could spent at disney for less than a week. My point is this: there are better experiences.

“WDW - a dream come true”

Before going there, I thought it is really expensive. It is no doubt but then match it with a dream come true..That's WDW. I haard a lot about long queues..but I never experienced a queue qith a wait time longer than 20 mins (memorial day weekend). the things I liked the most about WDW were -
1) facilities they provide
2) the ambience,
3) it is made for all age groups - whether you are going with old age people or 2yr kids, you can still enjoy.. there is something for everyone.
4) the parades especially the nighttime spectacular parade which they have introduced for 50th year celebration
5) the fireworks at the night - I have never seen this magnificent firework show in my life
6) last but not the least - their rides.

I was there with my 2 yr old daughter and while going i was thinking all the time how will i be able to manage with her since she was not fit for hight requirements for many rides, but they provide a fast switching facility where one parent can wait with the child. This really helped us a lot and we enjoyed a lot.
Another thing not to miss is their shows. Be it Cindrellabration or a 3-D show, they all are brilliant.
In the Animal Kingdom, they had "Festival of Lion King" and "Its tough to be a bug" both of which were just fabulous. We also got respite from scorching heat by seeing the shows during noon and thus saving morning and evening time for rides.

Overall for us, it was a dream vacation worth of every penny we spent.

“It Is What It Is”

Just returned from a week's stay. The Magic Kingdom, MGM, Blizzard Beach and Animal Kingdom were all fine. Things for people of all ages to enjoy with AK and MGM being particularly enjoyable for our pre-teen boys. One annoying feature was the store at the exit of most rides that you must pass through. As if there wasn't enough merchandise being pushed everywhere else in the park.

EPCOT was a ersatz world's fair. Some good rides such as Soarin and Test Track but the rest was corporate sponsored ticky tacky. If you have decent museums, Discovery Place-type facilities or aquariums within a reasonable drive, go there and bypass this place. The international exhibitions were a joke - one food court after another. "Fish & Chips" at the UK, "General Tso's Chicken" at the China pavillion. Wow - you never see food like that anywhere, except at your local mall. At the USA pavillion, you guessed it, McDonald's!

The parks are always crowded. I can deal with long lines for popular rides (and FastPass is a blessing) but the crowds are so big you cannot simply enjoy the facilities. It is like Grand Central Terminal or Penn Station at rush hour 10 hours a day. I know the Disney accountants want to keep as many people there as possible, I doubt there is even a limit to how many people they'll let in. If park attendence was lower by one-third or capped at a reasonable level (I know, dream on), it would be a much more enjoyable experience.

The big issue with Disney is service. All the parks and hotels are terribly uncoordinated. The staff is trained to pass you off and move you along. "I'm sorry" and "I understand (your frustration)" are trained responses, not "I will handle/resolve it." Bus service is poor, every 20 or 25 minutes, but no schedule and accountability. You will wait longer.

Avoid the Disney property hotels, the only benefit is the extended park hours (at certain parks on certain days) but they are not worth the added cost. Most are still a bus ride away from the parks and you can stay at a Ritz or JW Marriott for the same money or less, see more of Orlando (Universal and Sea World) and get your money's worth on lodging.

“Disney is over-rated to say the least”

Walt Disney World

It was confirmed, after a 10 year return to Disney I finally figured out what bothers me most about the place-It's how over-rated it actually is and that I could have stayed home and went to the county fair and had the same effect (and probably got on more rides). I can't even say anything about the magic of Disney unless you call standing in line sweating for 45 minutes with a small child in hand waiting to get on Dumbo the Flying Elephant and then being pushed aside by 2 adults with a teenager when they finally opened the corral is a good time-think again. The problem is most of the rude people don't even speak English and could care less about their manners or their lack of. I would not go back again to the park. MGM was ok, the show was wonderful. Animal Kingdom was boring, Epcot is Epcot is Epcot and thats not saying much either. Best part about Orlando are the water parks and dining options, other than that Disney is a bust!

“As always-its still DISNEY”

Walt Disney World

It had been 15 years since we had been to Walt Disney World. This time the trip was with my son and my granddaughter. Her first trip, and looking through her eyes the magic is still there. Yes everything is pricey, but you don't go to a resort area and expect McDonalds prices. The Magic Kingdom is still my favorite even as a grandmother. The magic never gets old.

We stayed a Pop Century in the 90's section. A very long walk from the bus stops after a long day at a park. We started driving about halfway through the week because the wait times for the transportation was a bit too long. I would highly recommend Pop Century as a value resort, very clean, the rooms were not too small and the staff is very helpful. I would suggest getting the preffered rooms though, closer to everything.

We did not get the dining with our package and I don't know that it would have saved us anything. If you are planning to eat a lot of table service meals, then it might save you money. We mostly ate counter service and that only runs around $10 to $12 a person (adult). We were so busy that we usually only ate 2 meals a day and sometimes a snack. The portions are very large. My son is a big eater and he filled up with the counter service meals.

We ate at Coral Reef and at Chef Mickeys. Coral Reef is a wonderful experience. We had never done a character meal before, so we made seating arrangements for Chef Mickeys in the Contemporary. If you have children of any age, go to Chef Mickeys! The characters come to the tables and "talk" with everyone and have a really fun time. The servers are great and also join in the fun. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The biggest difference I noticed in the 15 years is the way the characters are everywhere! Sometimes there are lines, but they move pretty fast. Even my 12 yr old granddaughter became excited and had to have all their autographs and pictures. Truly magical.

We were there 7 days and still didn't see everything. We went at a moderate speed and enjoyed. We went to all 4 parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Disney Quest.

I enjoyed Disney World when my children were little, but to see it through your grandchildrens eyes is even more magical. Disney World allows everyone to be a kid again for a little while. Budget, plan and enjoy.
