“Nice hotel , few issues.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

This Hilton is fairly new & is a very nice hotel. It has a great pool area with a lazy river & water slide , mini golf , volleyball , basketball, out door fire pit and more. The reason I gave it a 4 out of 5 is for a few reasons. Hidden charges , small maintenance issues , & breakfast. First our tv would not work with the remote. Maintenance came 3 times in two days to fix it. They said it was something in the tv programming. They would reprogram the tv then when you turned it off later , it wouldn't work. Still wasn't working on day 3/ checkout.. Being winter it was chilly & we turned on our heat when we checked in. Came back late after dinner & parks & it was freezing in our room still. Again maintenance came at 1am & said they forgot to program the heater for winter. Total in 2 night stay we had maintenance in our room. The last thing on the tv story , the worker apologized for the tv problem & said pick a movie , it's on them. We did , then 45 minutes into the movie the lodge net went out. So much for that! Next day $19 charge for lodge net! I called & said what's up? They said the lodge net went out last night so they'd remove the charge. I asked how many other people we taken for a movie without them taking it off knowing the lodge net went down! Seems like they just let charges ride at customers expense? When I checked out I mentioned our stay , they then said for the trouble they'd take my resort charge of $20 a day off. I said thanks for taking off a charge I didn't even know I had. The resort daily charge is not clear nor is it listed in your room rate. I'm sure somewhere in very fine print , it's says it somewhere. So between parking & resort fee ad $35 a day to your final bill. & last breakfast. It was ok but $22 for a buffet is ridicules. $ $70 for a family of 2 adult 2 kids is out of hand for what you get. all in all the hotel is nice , the staff is nice , but that $100 rate gets you there then the rest falls into place. I would stay again as clean & nice is the most important thing to me. They just have a few bugs they need to work out I guess.

Room Tip: If you are a hilton honors gold or above there is an executive lounge on the 19th fl that offers con...

Dear Sean B,
Thank you for your recent review. We were disappointed to read that you felt the $20.00 Resort Charge was excessive as this offer provides you with:
**Unlimited guestroom high speed internet access (thus eliminating the $14.95 charge for each device);
**Unlimited local, toll free and domestic long distance calls,
**Complimentary 24 hour fitness center access
**Complimentary recreation activities & equipment
**A 15% discount on food & Beverage at Hotel restaurants and bars (excluding taxes & gratuities). The Tropics Grill and Bar is excluded from this offer.
We understand that there are hotel/motels in the area that may not charge for WiFi or parking but we are competitive with the other Resorts in the Orlando area. All of your remarks were distributed to our Managers for comment and training purposes. We are always listening to ur guests and appreciate your candid feedback. Thank you again for choosing the Hilton Orlando. We hope to see you back again soon.

“Another Hilton experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Stayed here for a two day business trip. Meetings were held in the hotel as well. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Food in David's Grill was average. Room was spacious with two beds, a side chair and table and desk and chair. Bathroom was clean. Room well taken care of. As in my recent stay in another Hilton, a magnifying mirror in the bathroom would have been welcome.

“Nice .... BUT ...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012 via mobile

Nice place, for sure. Huge of course. I was on business and even with the firm picking up the tab i had quite Some beef with the place:
- issues with it's cable provider prevented in-room TV - and it took a lot of my patience to get them to figure that out
- extremely expensive business center ($7 for 15 min of Internet access??? Plus charges for prints)
- Starbucks Is $1 per cup more expensive
- food in restaurants and room service not at any level reasonable

Kudos to the valet parking team. They helped turn a potential bad experience into a great service recovery effort. My electronic key got misplace. They ( special shout out to Jayce ) helped me get the key replaced and provided my family taxi vouchers to get to our family gathering for Thanksgiving while the car was in the shop. The whole team demonstrated what a professional group they are. Thanks also to Ashley and Carla.

“Nothing but headaches. No shower. Stained Sheets. Armed robbery”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

When I checked in I thought I had a great deal: the hotel looked nice and really clean and shiny. But within a few hours of checking in the problems started.

One would expect that at a hotel of this caliber the least you could expect is a warm working shower, a bed with clean sheets, and a hassle-free experience. Not at the Hilton. You cannot have that.

Here is the long story:
1. I got to my room late as we just put our luggage in the room then went to the park. By the time I got back I was really looking forward to a nice shower and sleep. Not to be. The shower made a lot of noise but no water came out. I called and called and called the front desk, nobody answered. Finally I went downstairs. Was told that someone would be up. I didn't want to wait and asked to be changed to another room. I started getting this speech about how they had to downgrade me if I wanted to change rooms because they didn't have any more king rooms available. I didn't stay around to listen and went back upstairs.

2. A few minutes later I got a knock on the door with someone telling me that they had miraculously found a king room that I could change to. I quickly packed my bags. Unbeknownst to me I was charged $1.15 for the phonecall I made to the front desk. Is that gall or what? A charge for an in-hotel call????

3. When I got to the new room at 2:00 am at this point, the shower worked fine, but when I was about to slip into bed I noticed two large strains on the bottom sheet, about the length of my thumb. These are not stains that would go unnoticed. Someone put them on the bed knowing full well that they were dirty. I called downstairs (and yes, got charged for the call, unbeknownst to me) and requested new sheets, which I put on the bed myself. By the time I got to bed it was well past 3 am. That was the first strike.

4. In the hotle my phone charger wasn't working so I made two phonecalls of 5 minutes each to the people I was traveling with, and two phonecalls to my husband. The rate sheet said that a phonecall was $1.00 to connect and 10c for additional minutes after 60 minutes. To be fair it also said in very tiny, tiny, tiny print that an AT&T rate would apply after that. What it didn't say was that the charges for a 15 seconds phonecall was $7.00. A charge for a 20 minute call was $18. All together I was charged over one hundred dollars in phone calls. Note: there was no Internet at the hotel. Even the business center charged for an Internet fee.

5. The next day I was sick and I ordered in room service (and was charged for the call), and I was told that my room credit card wasn't working. When I went online to check why, I saw that Hilton had held over several hundreds dollars from my account as incidentals. I used another cc and figured when I'd check out the charges would go away. Not so. Three phonecalls later and an urgent email to the bank and the money is still being held over.

6. An additional charge of $135.00 appeared on my card from nowhere, after I checked out.

7. The breakfast was extremely expensive: $5 for a juice. $21 for an omelette. We chose the buffet for $22, they even charged our children, $11 each (!!!! In most places kids eat free!!!) and that would have been ok except the food was so mediocre I would have eaten better at a supermarket

The hotel site was nice, the pool really enjoyable, and the rooms sparkly on the outside (but check the sheets) but I would never come back here. If management had tried to make up for its multiple errors and faux pas, I would not have written a review at all, considering it's hard to rate highly a place that gave you so much angst, but if you're like me, you don't want to have angst on your holidays. You want to know that everything is taken care of and you can, at least, count on a warm shower and clean sheets at the end of the day. Not at the Hilton you can't.
