Orlando has some really nice restaurants however I am constantly disappointed when trying more upscale options. Invariably they are as expensive as New York City and are totally sub-par in comparison to everything except service (Florida knows service!).
Ocean Prime certainly is expensive and the service great (if somewhat effusive but perhaps that is just a North Easterner perspective) but the food is also quite wonderful.
Greeted warmly by the "free" (but obviously a tip is appreciated) valet who supplies umbrellas for the short walk to the door we were even more warmly greeted by the hostess and seated by a very eager to please waiter (Bradley). The menu is good for a steak / seafood place and had some interesting variations (like the jalapeno cheese scalloped potatoes which were super rich and yummy but probably VERY highly caloric). We had their apparently very popular Chilean sea bass with truffle sauce - delicious and delicate while being rich in flavour. On special was their cowboy 20oz bone in ribeye which was fantastic and cooked to perfection. Beer and wine selections good. Sides are supposedly "family style" and "good for 2 or 3" per our waiter but really 2 sides for 2 people is a more appropriate ratio unless you are a very light eater or filling up on bread (freshly baked sourdough which was pretty good) or appetizers.
We ate in the dining room which is (for Florida) slightly fancy but you can also eat in the attached lounge which is more casual and even has a nice bar with sports on TVs.
Overall we were very happy with the place and would certainly return - could see how it would be fun for larger groups as well.
