We have always stayed on Disney property but chose to take the educators discount offer the hotel was advertising. Wish I had stuck with Disney.
Pros: Beautiful hotel, great pool, excellent business facility, clean rooms
So many conventions at the same time including a huge one from Dell that the number of people on their phones and in business attire made vacationers like ourselves feel very awkward walking through the hallways. Very, very formal, loud, and extremely busy. Bustling every which way.
The bussing is completely inadequate to and from Disney. There is a schedule of when the bus picks up, but what they don't tell you is how long your trip will take to the park or to get back to the hotel. The animal kingdom bus brought us to magic kingdom first. Ridiculous. When we grabbed the bus from magic kingdom to go back to the hotel it not only stopped at Epcot, but also Disney studios. So, what should have taken 15-20 minutes took nearly an hour...which made us late for breakfast and dinner reservations. The Epcot bus was 20 minutes late as well, so the schedule isn't really a schedule.
I got a $109 educator rate, which was excellent and opted for the $7 a night Disney view. Please do not waste your money on the Disney view. To see the fireworks, all three of us had to stand to one corner of the room and basically press our faces against the glass to get a view. So silly.
When I got the bill on check out, it said nightly rate of $116. I thought, ok, that is correct, but then there was another itemization for $7 each night for the view. They tried to double charge us. I'm so glad I noticed. I went to the front desk and it took the poor clerk about 20 minutes to go line by line to fix the mistake. Of course we are trying to get to the airport on time for an early flight.
The educator rate said it came with "no resort fee". Well....they don't have a resort fee so that is just false advertising. I thought maybe that meant no parking fee or no internet fee or something, but no, Internet was $10 a day and parking was $13. Again, getting nickel and dimed. Why advertise something that isn't a thing.
They have NO guest laundry facility on property. We were on vacation for 9 days and midway through, we actually had to bring our clothes over to the new Art of Animation resort around the corner just to do our laundry. Really.
The harvest bistro meal was Dreadful. My salmon was extraordinarily dry and fishy. None of us liked our meals at all, and we are usually happy with just about anything. Not picky people.
If you are there for business, great. Just check your bill. If you are looking for a vacation at Disney, go to a Disney hotel. We won't make that mistake again.
