“Awesome for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

We've been to WDW many times and usually stay at one of of the deluxe properties. But the prices are getting too high so we decided to stay at a moderate property for our recent 6 day trip. I had low expectations (I really hated the Caribbean Beach Resort) but loved this place. We got one of the newly renovated "Royal" rooms. It was lovely! We were very lucky - near the bus stop to the parks, close to parking without overlooking the lot, the same building where they showed evening movies on the lawn, pool one building over or a short walk to the big pool with slide. I can see how some might not be happy about how large the resort is but it was so charming that we enjoyed the walking (my husband and I actually went on walks). The food court was huge and had a great variety. The pool was heated in January/February. Kids loved the boat to French Quarter and Downtown Disney. The bus to the parks was fine. Minor complaints (and I do mean really minor): no lotion or shower cap, a real closet instead of a rack would be nice, and I still don't get the curtain that seperated the bathroom area from the main room - would a pocket door have been that much more to build? Overall, a great room for the price we got. We would deinitely come back here over the deluxe properties.

Room Tip: Magnolia Bend was near one of the bus stops (no stops to MK, but last on the way back)

Loved the room, clean , near the pool, a small walk to the Lobby. Bus ride to the parks. Boatwright Restaurant at the main building was great. Some of the food is Spicy. (New Orleans style) Had Jambalaya - Great! Collard Greens - Very Spicy. Secondvisit to this Resort.

Our previous two WDW vacations were at value resorts (All Star Movies and Pop Century) which were great and fun in their own chaotic way. But now that we've stayed at POR, we can certainly see the difference between a value and moderate resort.

The biggest asset to POR is the vast amount of space -- everything is so much more relaxed and peaceful. The theming is gorgeous, and it's appropriate for both families and romantic getaways.

We stayed in Oak Manor, in a Royal Room. It was lovely, but to be honest I can't say that we would pay for an upgrade to this themed room (we were upgraded for free upon arrival). The fireworks on the headboards were really neat, but beyond that it was a bit too...royal for our taste. :)

The room we had was very quiet (9043) and we rarely heard our neighbors. The evening movie is show in the Oak Manor courtyard right outside our room, but as soon as you go into the room and close the door, you wouldn't even know it was happening outside.

The food court was decent...good variety and a lot of food for the meals (oh, the pasta!).

We also love all the extras that this resort offers, like the ferry boats to downtown Disney, bike rentals, nightly campfire, and more.

I will encourage all my friends to stay here. If you can afford the moderate hotels, this one is perfect!

First stay in a Moderate room at Disney and I was thrilled with the hotel and especially what I feel I got for the money. Lovely setting and well landscaped. You really could not tell that this was a 2000+ room resort. The buildings were seperated enough by space and foliage that you really felt as if your building was the only one until you get out and explore a little more.
Check-in went as quickly and efficiently as I have experienced at the Deluxe level resorts.
The pool was nicely themed and again, well landscaped and tended. The only negative observation I have in this regard is that it was a very long walk from the Oak building to the pool, enough so that we skipped going to the pool on a couple of occassions as I had a tired little one that really wanted to swim and play in the pool, but didn't want to walk that far. I recommend a stroller for anyone with small children to help with this.
The "royal" room we stayed in was beautifully decorated and enchanted my little girl. So many details (as Disney is known for) captured her attention again and again and made just being at the hotel a part of the adventure of our trip. The surcharge for a royally decorated room was definately worth it.
The only real drawback to this hotel was the location. Although quiet and peaceful, it was so far away from the parks that I was really starting to question if I was still on Disney property the first time I traveled back to the hotel from the Magic Kingdom. I suppose if you are a fan of Downtown Disney, this is the place to stay, but it really added a lot of travel time anytime we went to the theme parks, especially the Magic Kingdom. However, it was so lovely, I would absolutely stay there again.

Room Tip: If you want quicker access to main pool, & resturants and want to stay in a "royal" r...

Very disappointed that this was rated a moderate hotel. It is no different than pop century! Or any other motel anywhere. Only plus is that the grounds were beautiful. ALL rooms are far from center of the property. There wasn't any service upon arrival. We have to make six trips to the car to get our luggage to the room. Not an attendant nor any type of cart were available! Unacceptable!
The rooms are all outside. Door on outside. Unacceptable!
Bathroom was tinier than the law allows. Unreasonable and unacceptable!
No closet!
Dresser had three drawers for a family of four. Made it difficult to unpack, which I like to do.
Boat to downtown Disney was easy and efficient.
No scheduled evening events at the hotel for children.
Gift shop is very nice.
Food pretty good. Though it feels like herding cattle thru the food court in the mornings. Staff very friendly.
Shute bus was smooth and only other stop was at French quarter. So that was a plus. One morning we took a cab because bus took forever to arrive.

My fiance and I recently stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, there's lots to love about this property but its not without drawbacks. We stayed in one of the new Royal Guestrooms- it was lovely, filled with details! The hotel grounds are fantastic, the food options are very good. On the downside, the hotel's location isnt ideal for those planning lots of park time. The commute time to the parks can be quite extensive and the wait time between buses coming back at the end of the night can be significantly longer than other Disney hotels (50 min+ between MK and the hotel). Bottomline, if you're planning to spend more time at Downtown Disney than the parks this is the place for you! Overall a wonderful property but we'll be staying closer to Magic Kingdom next time.

Room Tip: Stay in a Royal Guestroom, they're cute and located closer to the bus stops and main building.

My wife and I have stayed at Port Orleans - Riverside at least twice a year since 2008. The resort is beautiful - large trees, natural spaces, and comfortable rooms. Staff are very friendly, check-in is usually painless, and the location is ideal. This resort is close to Epcot, has boat access to Downtown Disney, and a decent food court. The horse-drawn carriage rides available are wonderful at night. The pool areas are great for relaxation. Rooms are quiet, beds are comfortable, and the running paths are great! Overall, our home away from home!
