“Charming but long distance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

My fiance and I recently stayed at Port Orleans Riverside, there's lots to love about this property but its not without drawbacks. We stayed in one of the new Royal Guestrooms- it was lovely, filled with details! The hotel grounds are fantastic, the food options are very good. On the downside, the hotel's location isnt ideal for those planning lots of park time. The commute time to the parks can be quite extensive and the wait time between buses coming back at the end of the night can be significantly longer than other Disney hotels (50 min+ between MK and the hotel). Bottomline, if you're planning to spend more time at Downtown Disney than the parks this is the place for you! Overall a wonderful property but we'll be staying closer to Magic Kingdom next time.

Room Tip: Stay in a Royal Guestroom, they're cute and located closer to the bus stops and main building.

My wife and I have stayed at Port Orleans - Riverside at least twice a year since 2008. The resort is beautiful - large trees, natural spaces, and comfortable rooms. Staff are very friendly, check-in is usually painless, and the location is ideal. This resort is close to Epcot, has boat access to Downtown Disney, and a decent food court. The horse-drawn carriage rides available are wonderful at night. The pool areas are great for relaxation. Rooms are quiet, beds are comfortable, and the running paths are great! Overall, our home away from home!

This is a lovely place to stay. Rooms were great, comfortable beds, beautiful grounds, very clean. This is however a very large resort. It was a small trek to get to the front desk and the restaurant. The main food court restaurant is good, not great. Very large dining area which was nice for our large party. We actually ordered Domino's Pizza one night to save money and ate it in the restaurant. Much better than the hotel variety. I'm a bit of a coffee snob, but I thought the restaurant coffee was decent. Didn't even attempt the room coffee. The lines for check in and check out are pretty slow, but the staff was generally pleasant.

Room Tip: Paying extra for the preferred rooms is probably worth it if you plan on using the main pool or rest...

We really enjoyed our stay at Port Orleans Riverside in September 2012. Although not very spacious, the new Royal Rooms were very well-decorated and very clean. The firework show on the headboard is very magical and a really nice touch. Food at the resort was good, the bus transportation was average and on a couple of occasions, slow, but all in all, we were very satisfied and had a wonderful trip. There were only a couple of negatives I saw. The hotel is very spread out and requires a lot of walking to get anywhere. We were assigned a room close to the main building but it was still a long walk to go there and fill up your resort mugs (I think we only got refills once because of this). The other negative was there was only 1 hot tub in the entire resort. The one night my husband and I left the kids with the grandparents, we went over to relax in the hot tub only to find it full. We ended up having to wait for at least 30 mins before a couple of people finally left and we were able to get in. On the bright side, it was less of a wait than Toy Story Midway Mania! I'd definitely recommend this resort, although we'll probably try out one of the other properties for our next trip.

Room Tip: If you will have a stroller, I'd recommend requesting a bottom floor room although there are ele...

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at Port Orleans, this was our second stay onsite at Disney but the first time in a moderate classed hotel. I was so looking forward to staying here due to reading reviews, forums and internet photos. Wow it didn't disappoint! It looked even better actually being there, the views down the river were great and it was so peaceful (away from the feature pool!). Check in queue took a while but once at the desk we were processed fairly quickly and given all the Disney info. I requested an AB room but we were given a mansion room in Magnolia Terrace. We drove round as its a massive resort, on locating the room we didn't really like to position, it was right under the main stairs on the ground floor so we rang the lobby and they moved us to a nicer room round the side overlooking one of the quiet pools! The room was lovely, all recently refurbished with new furnishings, all really nice quality and soft bedding. We had nothing to complain about regards the room. We used the food court a few times, that was good, although my husband wasn't impressed with breakfast. I brought the refillable mug which was good value for a week of hot chocolates before bed!! The onsite shop was great, quite large with all things Disney!! The bar was very busy and on the nights with Yeeha Bob playing it was quite loud!! We used the boat to Downtown Disney one night which was a nice change and very relaxing, lots of wildlife to be seen. With a choice of pools it was so nice to go in the pool after a long day at the parks, even if it was at 10pm at night. Another mention should go to the security staff on the gates at the entrance, so friendly and welcoming, its very sad to come out of Disney at the end of the week and go back to the real world where everyone is grumpy and unhappy!!! Definitely recommend Port Orleans, I want to go again soon!!!

We have stayed at this property for the past 6 years. I must say that his last stay was by far the best. We stayed in November after turning down the Beach Resort and to our surprised the rooms had been renovated and were very nicely done. There is now a pull down bed for the little ones rather than the anoying rollaway under the bed. I recomend this resort to anyone. The cafeteria can get kind of crowded specially during breakfast so plan ahead.
On a negative note we did noticed that people that do not stay at the resort often come to use the pool and grounds area. How? Boat ride from Downtown Disney. I just thought of safety issues there. Be ware.

We decided to stay at a Disney hotel since we were going to be visiting Epcot on this Florida vacation. Check in was fast and efficient. I used the online pre checkin service offered so the actual time at the front desk was only 5 minutes. Room was clean. Refrigerator was not cold at all so they replaced it for us. No problems after that. The heated pool was very nice. It is great to be able to swim in late January! My daughter loved the large pool slide. Shuttle service to Epcot was very good. It is nice to not have to deal with the hassle and expense of parking at the park. Great centralized location to all of the Disney attractions.
