“Royal Room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

My family loved the hotel. The Princess room has nice details for a little girl! The pool was very good and we enjoyed the slide very much. The restaurant has lots of good options for every taste. We didn't like the buses because of the freezing a/c, so we used our car to go to the parks and it was faster. The boat to the Downtown was very relaxing. Everything was very clean and quiet with a beautiful landscape. Be prepared to walk, because it's a huge hotel. It's so nice to have the Sassagoula river crossing the hotel! Thank you Disney for this incredible place/hotel!

Loved the theme of the grounds and the rooms, we stayed in the alligator bayou. But found the Disney buses an absolute nightmare waiting 20mins for a standing room only on both trips, Riverside always had the longest lines, so why not put on more buses!?! We parked at the Poly and caught the monorail in to make it easier.
Also had to give Mousekeeping a call to remind them to clean our room, as they forgot on several occasions. Used the launderette next to our local pool and that was great, just took a dip and left it there

Room Tip: We stayed in block 28 which for us was a great location.

Rooms had just finished being remodeling so it was clean and comfortable. The pull out bed from the wall was a single size which was great.

If you have anyone in your party that cannot walk up steps you need to specify prior to check in. Our travel agent requested a room close to the bus stop due to mobility issues with one of our daughters. We were given an upstairs room but were unable to be given a new room downstairs. Two strollers and carrying a six year old made for two trips up/down the stairs each time. It was not a huge issue since we were just so excited to be at Disney but when you pay thousands of dollars on a vacation inconviences add up.

We tried to use the boat service once to access a different pool on site but was unable to do so. We waited thirty minutes before the boat arrived only to see people walk from the back of the line up to the dock. There was not enough room on the boat for people who were not cutting in line. We asked the boat captain to rectify the situation. He refused. Left message at office but did not hear from any staff. Was a great lesson for our children to see what happens to others should they ever act selfish.
Food was mediocre at best.
We would not stay at this Disney location again.

The number of Disney Resorts to choose from can be daunting, so look no further than Riverside. It has all you need when staying at a Disney property: quick and table service restaurants, gift shop, pool with slide (though it was closed during our stay), numerous trails and quiet pools. And though the resort is spread out, it isn't unmanageable. I walked my 2 & 4 year-olds from our building (at the far end of the property, by request) to the main lobby numerous times, and it didn't take too long.
We stayed in Alligator Bayou, as we had a group of 5. My 4-year-old loved 'sharing' the Murphy Bed with Louis the Alligator, Tiana and Naveen. The room is decent sized, the bathroom small, but there is a vanity area with a curtain that can be pulled.
And, as always, the Mousekeeping was great! Super staff altogether!

This is just like every other Disney resort...great value, clean, convenient to the parks. It seems the French Quarter side does seem a little fancier, but also was a little more expensive. My wife reserved a "princess" room for us as we have 2 small girls and they loved it. The LED lights over each bed light up to form fireworks over the castle...the girls (and me!) thought it was so cool. The Riverside theme pool was really cool and made to look alike an old fish camp with lots of vegetation, tin roof, etc. My oldest daughter (4 yrs old) went to both that one and the French Quarter pool and I liked the Riverside one better...the slide was "cooler" in my opinion.

We ate at the French Quarter restaraunt and had beignets and they were great (no cafe du monde, but close).

This park puts you a close drive to the transportation center and Epcot....a pretty good little trip to Animal Kingdom.

Room Tip: If you have little girls, request a princess room....a little more expensive than other Riverside ro...

We stayed in the Alligator Bayou section of the resort, in a secluded area, a bit of a walk from the main building (check in, restaurants, etc.). It was VERY quiet and we felt like we were the only ones in our building. We were right by one of the pools, but still quiet. The only time it felt crowded was at peak dining times in the dining hall. Had a short walk to one of the bus stops. Our room was immaculately clean and well updated. Great for 2-3 people, but small-ish room could hold up to 5, with 2 people in each queen bed plus the fold out/trundle for a child. LOVED the ceiling fan in the room and there were good storage spaces too. I would definitely stay here again.
