“The only place for Universal Studios”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2014 via mobile

Moved here for two nights from Disney to take advantage of the express and early entry. Well worth it. Smooth check-in on the first day at 7 meant we were in line by 7.45 with our passes, tickets etc in hand for early admission and express lines. Interconnecting rooms for family of 5 were fresh in light greys with bright cushions - clearly newly renovated, go for the 6thfloor if not staying on club level. Some other corridors we passed looked dingier so we were lucky here. Comfy bed, plenty of room. Starbucks downstairs and able to charge all purchases in the parks and Hard Rock Cafe to the room. It would be better if this was all on one room key rather than various different tickets and scraps of paper but other than that it was all great. Will stay again when visiting UNiversal.

We stayed for 2 nights in August and found the hotel brilliant. So convenient for the parks and city walk. We booked a deluxe Queen room for the 4 of us and on arrival had been upgraded to club level, which was a lovely surprise. Room was recently renovated and was great with very comfy beds and an enormous memory foam sofa bed that our 15 year old slept on. The only downside to the room is the small bathroom but there is another sink in the area outside the bathroom, so it wasn't too much of a problem. Pool and pool side food and drinks are also really good. Will be hopefully staying for more nights next year!!!

The hotel is really good until you realize the benefit vs. the cost deservers something better, 100 USD less per night fare would make it a great value for your money, the express pass at Universal Theme parks was our decision point to select this hotel and that would be my only recommendation.

This was the 4th time we stayed at the Orlando Hard Rock Hotel. Previously we have had good experiences. This visit began poorly. The valets would not allow us to park our car at the door [as we had done in other years and is the custom at most hotels] for our check in. Then they said we had 10 minutes to check in, get it unloaded and out of there. My husband got a baggage u-boat cart. Immediately the valet took it away from him. We have always self parked and taken our own bags so my husband was put off by this. When he came in to let me know he had to move the car while I was checking in, the valet demanded his car keys. He said he would be right out and was just informing me as to where he would be with the car - but over all he felt that he was not being treated "like a rock star" which in past years was their slogan.
When checking in I presented my Hard Rock rewards card. The woman checking me in said that the Hard Rock no longer used that card. She did not inform me as to what they were using, nor did she offer to sign me up with the new rewards program.
We had reserved a room with a garden view. When we got to our room - the view was of the front enterance and the valets. We could not even see the fountain because of the location of the room. We could see the valets texting.
On a positive note - our past 3 visits had been nice. We chose to stay at the Hard Rock again because of its proximity to both Universal Parks. When you stay at the Hard Rock as a guest a perk is that you can enter the Universal Theme parks an hour earlier. We also felt it was worth the approx $400 per night because as a hotel guest, you automatically get the express [quick/fast] pass for nearly all rides in both parks. This would have cost a great deal more on our park to park pass had we stayed outside the park, so this was also a good perk. Since the new Harry Potter Diagon Alley had just opened, we felt that staying in the park, despite the expense balanced out in the end in convenience and overall park ticket cost.
There is a beautiful walkway from the hotel to the Universal Parks [a walkway we thought we would have had a view of]. Guests can walk or take a ride on a bike taxi on the pathway. We love walking - there is a section of the path that is surrounded by bamboo and the sound is awesome as the wind blows the bamboo. The path winds along a waterway which is very picturesque. Guests can also take a boat from the hotel to the Universal Parks if they wish.
As always, the room was nice, but our initial experience and poor view placed a damper on our experience. Especially as repeat guests, I felt we should have been treated better.

We have just returned from a two week stay at the Hard Rock Hotel, Orlando. In terms of location it is a 5 min walk from Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure and City Walk, which is great as days at the park can be long so this gives you flexibility. The express system that you are entitled to is fantastic this made our experience at Universal and Islands of Adventure much more pleasurable. It meant very little queues, if any. The early entry into the parks also enabled us to avoid the long Harry Potter queues. This is certainly a fantastic perk of the hotel.

The day time staff at the Hard Rock Hotel were helpful and attentive, especially Dani who checked us in quickly and efficiently. She was also very helpful when we had a few problems during our stay. However, some of the evening staff at the Hotel had very little time to help when problems arose which was disappointing.

We didn't eat in the restaurant or purchase many drinks in the bar due to the high cost.
We ate at City Walk. However, for breakfast snacks and daytime snacks there is a great shop with very friendly staff.

Our room was spacious and clean, our bed was made each day and fresh towels were provided.
The bed was not the comfiest I have slept in, for this standard of hotel I did expect more comfort.

Several transport options to places are available from the hotel to other local areas and to Disney. Hotel staff were helpful in booking a shuttle service to Disney.

The amenities in the hotel were good in terms of the operating hours, the shop was open early and closed late. The pool was open till 11pm with towels provided. There were enough sun beds for all without reserving at the crack of dawn and movies were shown in the evening.

We would return to this hotel as the express pass system is a great perk.

This place was fantastic! The hotel employees were very friendly and helpful, and the room was very comfortable. The main restaurant was great for breakfast with a super buffet. We will definitely stay here again

This is the fourth time we have stayed at Hard Rock on holiday to Orlando and this time I have decided to write a review. We only ever stay here for one night to get early access to both theme parks and also gain the privilege to skip all the queues for rides, apart from both Harry Potter experiences. This is worth it's weight in gold, especially in July, as queues for some of the rides can be huge. We paid £250 for a room that fits 5 people and this allows you to skip the queues for 2 days. You can check in early (at 6.30am) leave your bags and then hit the parks to use the express pass and you can also use the passes on the day you check out as well. You can buy express passes in the park but you may as well stay one night at the Hard Rock as it doesn't cost that much more. This hotel is worth 5 stars - if I had to choose my dream hotel in Orlando for 2 weeks I would choose to stay at the Hard Rock. The staff are great, rooms are excellent and the pool is ace. Huge cocktails, massive beers and nachos all brought to your lounger by staff. You can also get a water taxi to Universal Citywalk. The room had 2 queen beds and a z-bed for my son - there were 5 of us and we had more than enough space. This hotel is luxury and I love it - I can't recommend it highly enough.

Room Tip: Pay a bit more for a garden view room or a pool view.
