“Can't beat the location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

Loved staying at the Hard Rock Hotel in Early June. Booked here based on recommendations from Trip Advisor and was not disappointed. From the moment we walked in the door everyone was very helpful. Busboys will help unload your luggage and take to your room (will not let guest use luggage cart) and check in was very fast and easy. Fast pass machines were right next to check in but expect a drivers license type photo instead of a small portrait. When picking up tickets for universal, check at the concierge for information about the park and area activities. (Gary was awesome!) Hotel staff and surroundings more than made up for a slightly above average room.
After an afternoon rain storm, we decided to enjoy the pool instead of going back to the park. Pool area was large and very family friendly. Kids (15, 17) said the water slide landing area was very shallow but very safe for younger children. Pool only went to 4 foot with a beach type entry so it was easy to find a depth and just sit in the water. Hot tub felt great on tired muscles. The movie was a good idea but the sound was bad so you could not hear the words very well. We ordered from the pool area waiters and had a little snack while swimming and charged it to room. (18% surcharge added for tip before we ever saw the bill so know price will be higher than shown on menu. Also the only time we saw our waiter was when he handed us our bill so not happy about giving him such a big tip.) Fortunately the pool waiter was the only bad employee we encountered during our entire stay.
At night our room was very warm and after 2 nights we asked the front desk about the air condition. They volunteered to move us to another room or call engineering to fix the problem. We decided to try and fix the air in our room since we had objects from the park being delivered the next day. The gentleman on the phone said that each room has a motion sensor and the cooling system turns off when movement stops. They were able to manually override the system so that the room stayed cool even when we slept. Had heard about this issue from a previous review but forgot until the second warm night. If you are a person who sleeps better in colder temperatures, ask early in your stay about turning off the room sensor.
The gift shop had a large selection of items but it was fun to just walk around and look at all the rock and roll memorabilia. Found the ice cream shop one afternoon and I can recommend the cookie dough/brownie ice cream. So many things to do around the Hotel, we almost felt we didn't get our money out of our stay since we spent so much time at the parks. Take time to explore the hotel, all the shops and restaurants, and beautiful tropical surrounding.

Room Tip: Hallways are long so ask for room 1/2 way down hall. Rooms overlooking garden area are less expensi...

What a fabulous hotel, we spent 6 nights at port Orleans before moving here for two nights. We visited with our 5 and 11 year old and grandparents.
Loved the room, ate in the restaurant (the kitchen ) on two occasions although we found it expensive. I had booked a meal at the city walk but couldn't get there with two young kids due to torrential rain!
Fabulous location within walking distance of the parks.
Spent half day at universal then back to the hotel pool (great pool) for a break and got up early for the extra hour at islands of adventure and Harry potter which was worth the extra money to stay here. We had bought wands and done the Harry potter rids by 9.15 am. The priority pass was fabulous, lines were an hour long but we walked straight on some or had little wait.
Would definitely return as the rides were great although I found that universal suited the 11 year old more so than the 5 year old this time but great time had by all.

We were asked by the town car driver as we pulled away from the hotel if we were ready to go home. We all said 'no,' not because we don't like home, but because we so thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was on the seventh floor, part of the club level and the only thing we would have done differently is to book the suite instead of the regular club room. The staff was outstanding, pool is perfect and the setting was great. We would recommend The Kitchen, the pizza from Emack & Bolio's, and I really loved the caramel moose print ice cream at Emack & Bolio's. Easy water taxi access to City Walk and the Universal parks.

All around a great experience...better than Disney. We're going to come back.

We have just enjoyed a 4 day stay at the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando and can't praise it highly enough! It may seem a bit pricey compared to other hotels in Orlando but it is worth every penny and the convenience is second to none. I would have no hesitation in returning next year.

Room Tip: The larger rooms are excellent for families with grown up kids as they are so spacious you don't...

Great stay but pricey. Staff was great,The location was great. You get a lot of extras for the money. But still pricey.
You get Express passes to all the rides. You can walk or ride a boat to the parks. You also get a pass to City Walk which we didn't do. The room was clean and beds were comfy. We did both parks and had a great time,

This hotel is the closest you could possibly get to Universal Studios. We stayed here 4 nights in June. The price is a little higher then other places, but like other reviews have said it is worth it! All rooms allow you to get an express pass for the lines. Going to the ticket counter you would pay $90 per person per day for the express pass. The staff was very friendly and always eager to answer questions. Our room was cleaned daily. The beds were comfortable. Self parking is $19 per day and in-room wifi is $10-$15 daily depending on your options. There is free wifi in the hotel lobby. The swimming pool is very nice, and with a waterslide, my kids were thrilled. There is 2 hot tubs, one for family or one for adults only. Having Universal linked to our room key, we did not need to carry our wallets. All the City Walk is also included in this. We hope to do this trip again. Only downfall was the weather, but what can you do about that!

Stayed here for 5 nights in May. It's not the least expensive place you will ever stay but I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for and I felt that my hard earned dollars were justified at this hotel. The old saying...location is everything, truly was meant for this hotel. It's a quick walk to the parks and to city walk...you can catch the shuttle but why? It's much faster to walk the 1/4 of a mile. The other amenity is the fast pass, and the early admission to the parks. Both are options that I'm not sure I could've lived without or could ever do without again. Hour long lines took me only 10-15 minutes tops! 20 minutes to get on Harry Potter with early admission. Later in the day the wait was over 2 hours!
The hotel itself was prey cool. I have teens and a preschooler and all had a great time. Especially at the pool. It was lively with music and games during the day and movies at night. The kids made friends while I aquatinted myself with the many drink concoctions. The pool staff was attentive and polite, actually mostly everyone I came in contact with went above and beyond in their roles.
The only reason I didn't give this review an excellent was due to a hiccup on a cabana rental mishap. Our reserved cabana was given to someone else due to a scheduling error and we were told we would need to go back on the wait list or take a smoking area cabana. Well we're not smokers and didn't feel that the error was our fault but it seemed at the time nothing could be done. But after speaking with the hotel mgr. he was able to offer a suitable solution to the issue which was appreciated. I would def go back to "rock out" again.
