“Too expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at the Hard Rock and we were glad it was only for one night. It is advertised as a high end hotel but it does not operate like one. When paying such a ridiculous rate, one should not have a guest room that was unvaccumed, stained bath towels, and a general dirty smelling bathroom. One should not have to pay extra for wifi access. The pool was ridiculously crowded and my family of four had to share a lounge chair.

I would not recommend this hotel.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

Stayed two weeks in Kissimmee in a condo but decided to splurge and stay two nights at Hard Rock - for the experience and after we priced out what it would cost our family of five to purchase three days of Universal Express Plus passes. A great hotel - the kids (aged 7,9 & 11) loved the rock music, the pool and the kids poolside entertainment. Warm pool, fun kids waterside, rock music pumping!
The Express pass works on the day you checkin to the day you checkout - with the crowds pretty heavy with Spring Break they were a lifesaver. Arrived at hotel 6am first morning, very quick checking and printing of Express passes, stored luggage in car (or can easily do with luggage services) and walked the pretty path over to the park (7mins to IOA, 5 to US). Remember to take your hotel keys (everyone in group) as the early admittance is only for the three Universal hotel guests). Beat the rush going to HP which is awesome when you see how CRAZY busy this area gets!! Spent a few hours at the park - skipping the lines with the Express Pass - and then headed back to the hotel. Spring break week - pool area very busy and by noon was difficult finding anywhere to sit. Not allowed to reserve poolside chairs (which is great IF everyone complies by this! Seemed to be a lot of chairs with towels that were empty for hours - pool staff needs to monitor this.). Headed back to the parks late afternoon after a very relaxing few hours! We arrived just as a lot of the crowds were leaving.
Pool area awesome, drinks cold and yummy. Bucket of beers - mix and match - great value. Nachos delicious, Ahi tuna salad delicious.
Room clean, great decor. Beds VERY comfortable, bedding luxurious! One negative - ordered a rollaway cot for $25/night and very uncomfortable. Probably better for my son to sleep on the floor! Lots of plush soft towels, luxurious shampoo and bath products.
Would definitely return to Hard Rock! Had a great time!

Room Tip: Get a room somewhat close to the elevator bank or you will be doing a lot of walking!

We splurged to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel @ Universal and we are so glad we did! The resort is geared for families, we had teenagers who loved the DJ at the pool and the fun atmosphere. The pool is the hub of activity and has events for kids as well as adults. There are lots of things to do in and around the pool, sand volleyball, ping pong and pool tables. There are cabanas for rent and they have flat screen T.V's and ceiling fans. Many people were watching the NCAA tourney while sunbathing. The resort has several restaurants and even a general store for snacks, drinks, ice cream and even Starbucks coffee.

The best thing of all are the "FREE" express passes to use at Universal and Islands of Adventure!! This is one of the perks for staying at the Hard Rock. We also got to enter the parks 1 hour before the park opened to the general public. We had a 3 day pass for both parks and it made our trip. The hotel location is a 5 minute walk to Universal. You can also take the water taxi (free) or have a rickshaw driver take you for a small fee. Just so you know what a great deal the express pass is, they sell for 90.00 each. There were 4 of us and it saved us $360.00. I really don't have a negative thing to say about this resort. My girls loved it and want to go back next year.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a pool view.

Wow! Friendly staff, nice room, able to accommodate 5 in one room The value was amazing for our Universal visit: Unlimited Express Pass for all 5 in our party from date of check-in thru date of departure! Would have cost about $500/day otherwise, during Spring Break week, and the crowds were pretty bad. Plus early admission to Wizarding World of Harry Potter. All this for less than $500/night--more than i would pay for a hotel, but considering the perks, well worth it. Very fun for our kids, they really felt like hipsters and the pool entertainment was dead on. Walking distance to Universal/IOA but water taxi also available. We enjoyed checking out classic Rock memorabilia. Room was very clean They striveto accommodate early check-ins but make it easy to leave your bags and head for the parks as early as you get there, even let you use health club for showers, etc, after your check-out time. Extremely accommodating.

Room Tip: Ask for something in the wing closest to the elevators or it's a rather long walk!

Stayed at the Hard Rock after our cruise and wanted to make the most out of limited time at Universal and HR was perfect. Bought the "express passes" which allow you to jump to the from of the lines in Universal. HR is only 5-10 min walk to the gates or you can take a water taxi as well. Rooms are nothing spectacular but pool area is awesome. Was perfect for our quick trip to Universal. My only complaint is the express passes are not valid for the new Harry Potter rides.

Room Tip: None of the rooms have balconies so I do not think it is worth the extra money to get a pool view.

We had 5 nights at the Hardrock at the beginning of February and it was just as wonderful as the last time we stayed the staff are really friendly and helpful, the breakfast in the Kitchen Restaurant is well worth it. We love the pool and our little boy loved the dive in movies!
The fast passes for Universal are a real bonus and the trips on the water taxi round to City Walk are fun too.
I also want to thank Lee for going out of his way to make my 40th birthday special with a lovely cake to my room and a Hardrock Pin which I will treasure. And we would like to thank Candice for her recommendations for restaurants in Clearwater which worked out really well.

The quality and high standard of services at this hotel has been consistent on both of our visits and we really cannot wait to book another trip to Orlando and stay at the Hardrock.

Thank you
