I stayed here at the end of August on a 'stay four, play free' package which includes admission to the two theme parks for two adults for the duration of the stay. You must stay for at least four nights to take advantage of this offer. To be honest having visited the two parks several times previously, by the end of day three, having used the room key to gain 'Express' access to the front of the line for all the big rides numerous times, we began to tire. In other words, you do not really need to tie up four days of your Orlando vacation at Universal.
Ironically on our last day, there were no lines for many of the big rides such as duelling dragons, which minimized the benefits of room key express.
The hotel itself was great. Room was clean and nicely furnished although not particularly spacious. We found the bed to be firm but supremely comfortable.
My 10 year old daughter loved the vast and very attractive pool which at times was fairly busy although never overcrowded.
As you would expect the hotel had all the facilities you would hope to find at a $200 plus per night superior quality hotel. Dining at the several restaurants was expensive and to be honest we went outside some of the time.
We loved the oppulent lobby area and bar where the drinks were not too expensive.
Location is great, just a short walk or complimentary water taxi to the theme parks or City Walk with its array of bars and restaurants. We dined at Hard Rock Cafe one evening, although had to endure an hour long wait to be seated and slow service thereafter.
Two small gripes though. One - Parking is charged at $7 per night. I have never paid to park at a US hotel before. Two - My daughter opened a bottle of water in the room and we discovered that it was an outrageous $7 per bottle. Prior to the Royal Pacific, we stayed in a $69 per night Hampton Inn and the bottled water was complimentary. (The price was indicated on a label on the neck of the bottle in small print)
Staff were helpful and friendly and I can find little to fault with this hotel. You do however pay serious money for an excellent range of facilities and benefits. If you are unlikely to use these you are probably better off looking elsewhere and saving some cash.
