“Hotel express pass for the rides is the best thing ever.”

As many have stated, the hotel stay at a Universal hotel with the express pass for all rides all day is the only way to go. You really can enjoy both parks since you can actually go on the rides with out long delays.

(We stayed at Hard Rock on our first visit about 3 years ago.)

This trip we stayed at the Royal Pacific. I agree the hotel itself is beautiful. The tropical theme was outstanding. The pool area great. The staff was helpful and friendly. The resturants were good.. Emeril's ..excellent.

The rooms are small and dirty. At check in we were given a non smoking room (no one asked) and when we went back down later, the room was changed with no problem. However, if we thought the first room we were in was dirty...the second room..the smoker’s room.. was worse.
I know everyone hates smokers, but we are paying a good price for a dirty room. (And, I would gladly pay more if it were cleaner)

The trip over all was great. The Royal Pacific Hotel is lovely, but the rooms at Hard Rock are much better. You get what you pay for. We would stay at Royal Pacific again, with a mention to housekeeping if anything needed attention on arrival.

We stayed for 4 nights - 08/14 to 08/18. After reading the many reviews, I wasn't sure what we'd find, but it just goes to show you can't please everyone. We thought it was fantastic and we would definitely stay there again. Luckily, my husband works for an airline so we were able to get a really good airline rate just by calling and asking. I also signed up to be a Loewes First member (on-line, for free) so we could get free use of the fitness club - otherwise it's a $8 charge. We had no problem parking our car - the lot was only about 2/3 full at any time. Check-in was fine, it was around 3:00 and we were the only ones in line. Our room was ready and it was quite nice and clean and spacious enough for the 3 of us - my husband, myself and our 15 year old son. Housekeeping was great - the room was always made up by the time we returned in the afternoon. One really hot afternoon we were back by 2pm and the room was done. The pool is beautiful and our son enjoyed the pool volleyball games. But as every other review says, the best advantage was the Express Pass. The parks weren't too crowded as school started this week in Florida. The longest posted lineup we saw was 45 mins. for Hulk, and my son was able to walk right on with no lineup. I don't think we waited more than 5 minutes for any one ride and I don't think we would have lasted in the regular lines in that hot sun. A couple of times we just missed the water taxi so we walked - it only took us around 5 minutes. We loved that the hotel was so close to the parks. We got soaked to the skin (socks and shoes too) on that Popeye ride, so we just walked back to the hotel and changed and continued on with our day. All in all, an excellent mini-vacation and we would certainly go back again.

Stayed 6 nights at Royal Pacific hotel. Enjoyed our stay but had hoped being a loewsfirst member we would get the upgrade to a pool view room. No surprise when told none available. Given a room beside the icemaker, which didn't work 3 days out of 6 anyway. Lamps in room were ripped, bar fridge key was never provided, must ask for it, but lots of polynesian character in the room. Lots of stains or gum on the rug, and the bedding had black marks in various places. There are no pop machines in the joint, so if you are thirsty for some juice, pop, or clean tasting bottled water, you must buy from the tuk shop on the main floor, as long as you are there before they close at 12:00 midnight. Expensive restaurants, but good food and service. Water taxis were great, but don't expect them first thing in the morning or after parks close.....too long of a line. The walk is actually only 5 minutes anyway, so gives a nice alternative. Also one day we took the shuttle bus which was empty. The MAIN reason to stay here is EXPRESS PASSING at ALL rides at both Universal parks. BIG TIME ADVANTAGE!!! This reason overrules all other issues that may have surfaced during our stay. Also beware, once you get used to using the express pass (which is just showing you hotel room key at the rides) you will have problems going to SeaWorld or Wet n Wild........because you have to stand in line with all the other people. Also, pool closed too early for us, at 11:00 pm Parks close at 10:00 pm, and would have enjoyed a little time in the pool afterwards, but no luck....no time. Should leave open like at Disney until 12:00 midnight supervised, and then later without. Had plugged sink, but service came and fixed right away.....actually (2) ladies in coveralls showed up! Like the benefits of charging things in the park on your hotel room key. Hard choice between Disney Resort and Universal Resort for next year. Disney is clean, professional, and top notch reputation, but Universal is different, a little more exciting, and oh those EXPRESS PASSES.

My family loved this hotel. From check in to check out the staff was freindly and courtious. The hotel itself was beauitiful, like staying in the south pacific. The room were clean and nicely mantained. We stayed 3 days and used the on site water ferrys to get us to the theme parks. They were fast and convinent. At the theme parks all we had to do is show our room key and this got us to the front of every line. No waitting!!! It made us feel like kings. I have been to Orlando any times before. This is the first time I stayed at the onsite hotel. I can definately recommend it. It is well worth the little extra it costs

“Nice stay at the Royal Pacific Resort”

Royal Pacific Resort

We stayed at the Royal Pacific Resort (RPR) at Universal 7/30/05 to 8/4/05. This was our third year in a row to return to Universal Studios/IOA and to stay at one of the Universal resorts. The previous two years ('03, '04) we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel. The Royal Pacific Resort was a beautiful resort and we enjoyed our stay, but we will return to the Hard Rock Hotel the next time we visit Universal Studios/IOA as we prefer the atmosphere, location and room quality at the Hard Rock Hotel over the Royal Pacific Resort.

The front of the line room key access to the rides and attractions at the parks is worth the price of the room and is the #1 reason for staying at one of the resorts at Universal. As I indicated above, the RPR was a beautifully landscaped resort with a wonderful pool and lagoon area. The walk path and water taxis provided easy access to both Universal parks. However, the quality of our room was just average as it was quite small and desperately needed a thorough cleaning and dusting. The wood carving divider between the bathoom and beds did not look like it had been dusted in over a year and even after they cleaned the room the first time, the night stand between the two beds was dusty enough to write your name.

We are LoewsFirst members so check-in at the LoewsFirst Express counter was quick and efficient. Our room was ready by 11 a.m. but it did not have a park view nor was it located in the Tower we had previously requested. The majority of the hotel staff that we encountered were friendly, efficient and attentive, however, some staff definitely needed some customer service training. The food at this resort is quite expensive, but everything we ordered was above average or excellent. The $7 or $8 daily parking fee seems unreasonable due to the cost of the room but we were familiar w/ this charge since we had stayed at these resorts in previous years. We have stayed at several of the deluxe Disney resorts where you are not charged a parking fee unless you use valet parking - something that Universal may want to consider. Also the food courts at Disney resorts gives you a good option for quicker and cheaper meal choices - another suggestion that Universal might want to review.

Overall, our experience at the Royal Pacific Resort was good but as indicated several times before by others, the front of the line room key access perk is the major reason for staying at one of the Universal resorts.
