“Such a pleasant experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

We spent a week last October at Port Orleans French Quarter. It was a charming resort. Maybe it was a result of "Disney tiredness" but those were some of the most comfy beds ever! The bus stop was very convenient and the cast members were all very nice. The boat down to Downtown Disney was a great feature. We didn't swim in the pool or eat at the restaurants, but are going back this October, so hopefully we will get to experience those. If I was traveling with only one or two other people, I would not hesitate to book at this resort. A very pleasant surprise!

We loved our stay at Port Orleans French Quarter and would highly recommend. We were there with family and were placed in three rooms side by side, thanks to the request of the first family who checked in two days prior. We were also pleasantly surprised to be upgraded from standard rooms to garden rooms and corner king in building 5, which is a superb location. I'm sure there is no bad location in this smallish property, but buildings 2 & 5 are close to the pool, lobby and bus stop and would be my first choice. Great staff, nice food court, lovely rooms, nice pool and grounds and efficient transportation.

Compared to many of the sprawling Disney resorts the French Quarter is very convenient. The buildings are all close to the restaurant, pool, and bus stop. Considering the heat and constant thunder storms in June this is something worth considering when choosing a resort this time of year. The room was clean and comfortable. However, don't expect anything fancy as the room is comparable to a standard chain hotel room. If you are looking for Disney themes throughout the resort you will not find it here as it has a Mardi Gras theme. The food court was pretty good and reasonably priced. The pool area was very large and has a cool slide for the little ones. The transportation to Magic Kingdom is great as the bus has a designated area at the park and only picks up French Quarter guests. Some buses were shared with Riverside guests to other parks which makes for packed buses and a longer ride. We also enjoyed a boat ride to Downtown Disney which is not available at all of the resorts. The staff was friendly and allowed us to check-in early. Overall, this was a nice place to stay on our trip.

Room Tip: Building 4 is right next to the food court and close to the pool.

Went down in November for a suprise birthday celebration. This resort is nice and small compared to its sister resort, Riverside. We had a wonderful corner room that was large and quiet. There is a meandering path along the river that was a nice walk in the evening. The pool was not too croweded or loud. We never waiting long for the bus to pick us up. The staff in the food court were very friendly. Front desk staff checked us in quickly and efficiently, especially since we arrived late in the evening. This is by far my favourite moderate resort.

We (my wife, 17 year old son, and myself) just got back from a 10 night stay (mid-June) at the Port Orleans French Quarter. This is the 4th time we have stayed at the French Quarter (2001, 2007, 2010, 2013). We live in Las Vegas so it is a lot easier for us to go to Disneyland/California Adventure every year. Another great stay at the Port Orleans! Everything at the resort always lives our to our expectations. We were in building 1, river view, top floor which is the farthest building out (but still only a 5 or 6 minute stroll through the well maintained grounds to the pool/lobby/food court. For the first eight nights of our stay, we literally saw only one other person on our floor and only 4 or 5 the last two nights. Very quiet and peaceful. The rooms have been remodeled in the last couple of years and are certainly adequate for 3 or 4 people. There is plenty of storage throughout the room. The rooms also have a small frig (no freezer) and coffee maker.
The pool is well designed and is staffed by very attentive lifeguards. Lots of lounge chairs, always stocked with towels, a pool bar nearby, and a small hot tub around the corner.
The Riverside resort is about a 10 minute walk along the river, with the boat available to the Riverside and Downtown Disney. The boat is great as the parking at Downtown Disney can get very full at night. (Beware the boats do not run in bad weather, so you might get stuck at Downtown Disney and take the bus back.
The French Quarter has only one bus stop and while we were there all the buses were dedicated to only the French Quarter, not sharing with the Riverside. The waits were usually less than 10-15 minutes, one wait of 35 for the Magic Kingdom in the morning (the busiest buses).
The food court is more than adequate for quick breakfasts or lunches with a fairly decent selection. There are 100s of places to eat at Disney World so we only used it for some breakfasts and one late dinner. We also ate at the Riverside food court a couple of times-a lot bugger and more selections, but also much busier. Definitely get the refillable mugs (about $15, and will pay for themselves in just a couple of days).
No, this is not a deluxe resort but the quality of service from the employees, the well maintained grounds and rooms, and the value of the cost savings makes this our number one choice at Disney World and easy to recommend to anyone. Will have other reviews on restaurants a bit later.

Room Tip: Even the farther out buildings are only about 5 or 6 minutes walk and the parking lots are right the...

This was our second stay at The Disney Port Orleans French Quarter, and it is by far my favorite Disney property! Of course, everyone wants to stay at an upscale and grand hotel (like the Grand Floridian), but for my family of 4, we find we're NEVER in the room long enough to enjoy the true value of a Deluxe resort, so we always find ourself at the French Quarter. It's the smallest of all of the Disney properties, and therefore very convenient! It's small-size makes it quick and easy to get from your room to the restaurant, gift shop, pool, and main lobby. Let's face it...after walking all-day in the parks, who wants a long walk back to their room at night? The French Quarter is perfect in that it requires minimal walking from points A to B. The staff is friendly, our room was kept clean, it was quiet, AND we had a wonderful corner room with an amazing view of the river! I highly recommend (and suggest) giving the French Quarter a try for a "no frills", but easy-going, family-friendly resort! The pool & pool bar are awesome as well!!!

Room Tip: If you want a quieter bldg., ask for a room in Bldg. 7 (farthest from the pool). It's also very...

From the minute my wife and I got off our Disney Magical Express till the last minute before our leave, it was a great experience at the Port Orleans Resort French Quarter. The property was under construction here and there, especially the front area, but believe it or not, no construction noises whatsoever. We were greeted by a magical doorman who was at the door greeting people every morning and throughout the day, no matter how hot it was. He was very nice. The resort looks a bit older compared to Riverside, which is just a mile down the river walk. French Quarter has quick service food court that we ate every morning. As expected, prices were higher than the places you would stay off the resort, but $20 here and there every morning. You can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but if you would like to go eat at a sit-down restaurant, I would go to Riverside. Someone said French Quarter's cafeteria had a better breakfast than the one from Riverside. Probably, you might buy a mug for $15.49 the first morning, which allows you to get any drinks throughout your stay at any time. Because of the mug, our first breakfast cost us about $38. I had a western omelet every morning for $8.79 and a banana for $1.50. My wife had a bagel (around $3) and a bottle of orange juice ($3.49). We went to theme parks in the morning, came back around 2-3pm, and went to the resort pool. The pool was not too busy during the day, so I would highly recommend taking advantage of that. It's open late. The property was very clean and spotless. It really looks like French Quarter. Very lovely place. Our room was close to the river (1126), which was very quiet. The room was very clean every day, so I thank the cleaning ladies. I think the third day or so into our stay, we were surprised by a few figurines that the cleaning lady had left, which were made with towels. A very cute mini mouse was left in the room in addition to a toothbrush holder. It was a very nice tough. Walls were very thick, and we didn't hear any noises from the next room. French Quarter hotel is near downtown and connected via the river. You can take a free boat to downtown or take a bus. Be patient when you take a bus to Epcot because it will make several stops within Riverside resort. Some buses don't come as often as we wished. It takes somewhat a long time to get to the Animal Kingdom. If you have a hopper pass and want to go to Magic Kingdom, you can take a monorail from Animal Kingdom or Epcot. We eventually figured out how to get around quicker. We also ended up buying a big bottle of water at the resort store for $3.50 and filled it up daily for our visit to theme parks. Our stay here was very pleasant, and we recommend any adults/couples to stay here.

Room Tip: I would definitely choose the first floor. There is no elevator, so if you are up on the third floo...
