“Beautiful resort and so quiet.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

We just stayed here last week, Sept. 13-18, and I will tell you, it was beautiful. We had stayed here many years ago when our kids were very young, but I honestly don't remember this much detail about the property. We took the Magical Express from the airport and were to our resort in less than an hour. Upon check-in we were told our rooms were ready. We were traveling with my mom & were able to get connecting rooms. We were in building 2, rooms 2135 & 2136, very close to the main building, just across from the pool, and just down the "street" from the boat dock to DTD! Perfect location! It was never too loud, in fact, I kept commenting on how quiet this resort was. I guess having stayed at the values the past 2 times I was expecting it to be just as loud. This resort is quite compact, so I really don't think you could have a "bad location" for your room here. Let's talk about how beautiful this resort really is, you walk down the "streets" and view the palm trees, fountains, luscious gardens, and you really feel like you are in New Orleans! I had looked at all the photos ahead of time, but until you actually get there you have no idea how beautiful it really is. This would be a nice resort for couples. Our room was a good size for our family of 4, we were able to use the luggage rack & the rack over the air conditioner and it worked out great as far as space is concerned. Having the double sinks was a plus when getting ready in the morning and the privacy curtain between the sink/bed area made it easy to change. It was always neat & clean, we had towel animals most days. The man at the front door gave the kids coins almost everyday and beaded necklaces. The kids enjoyed the pool, the slide is very cute. We took the boat to both DTD and up to Riverside, nice trips to both places, relaxing. We ate at the food court once, food was good and plentiful. I recommend you try the beignets, they are messy but delicious!!! We used Disney transportation while there and mostly always had our own bus. I would say that this resort is about 10 min from MK, 5-10 min from Epcot, and 10 min from HS. We didn't go to AK. We rarely waited longer than 5 min for a bus, and the one time we had to wait longer there was a cast member arranging another bus to come for pick up. We will definitely be returning to this resort next time we visit Disney!

Room Tip: Buildings 2,3,4,& 5 are closest to the main building, but they all seem within a short walk to i...

Clean, close to Downtown Disney. You can take a boat to the downtown area which is really nice. However, extremely similar to the value hotels. If I were you I would go value and save some $$$. Other than that really nice, and the pool has a water slide which is fun for the kids and a poolside bar which is fun for the adults. The food court has some great Orleans food, including a divine po' boy. The only real issue I had was for the buses to the park; there was no organization for the lines so it was chaotic,.. and this was during the low season! Other than that, Disney sure knows how to make a hotel home away from home.

Room Tip: Building 3 is right next to the main building where the buses leave from.

I love all the Disney resorts I have stayed at, but this one is tops! It is the smallest resort so that makes everywhere you want to go and do within walking distance. It has a very romantic feel and it is beautiful. The beignets in the Sassagoula food court are wonderful, not as good as Cafe du Monde in New Orleans, but very tasty. The staff is very friendly and they go out of their way to help you. The live entertainment at the jazz bar, Scat Cat's Lounge, is very entertaining. Originally from New Orleans, you feel like you have stepped back in time when to when New Orleans used to be exactly like this.

Room Tip: Building #5 is the best! It's in the middle of everything.

Port Orleans has become one of our favorite resorts to stay! POFQ is compact enough that any building as a good location as we discovered on our last trip! I was disappointed to find we were in building 1 but the walk to the bus stop was within 5 - 7 minutes. It never seemed like a bad walk. We had a "Garden View" but our view included the courtyard area and the river! And the walk to the boat dock was less than 5 minutes.

Our favorite things about POFQ is how quiet it is and the peacefulness is wonderful after a crowded day in the parks! The boat to Downtown Disney is another reason we love to stay here!! It is a convenient way to travel!

The buses for the most part were very good, especially involving the parks. But we found the bus from DTD back to the resort long and exhausting. It goes to several stops at DTD, Typhoon Lagoon and PO Riverside before POFQ. We timed the trip (Twice!) at 55 minutes. I doubt we will use the buses from DTD again and chance the line for the boat ride (it is a better ride anyhow!).

Room Tip: All buildings are decent but Building 1 was quiet and we often felt we were all alone.

We've been to WDW 47 times and all have been deluxe except for one other .... We alway visit POFQ during our trips because we like the food offering in the food court (go figure the deluxe we stay at offering not that good) we also like the entertainment in the Scat Cat Club... We have a meal, see the entertainment and then boat to DTD and then bus to our home resort !

Last trip we booked POFQ, had building 5, second floor... I would have given all 5's except being not close to one park. I
The resort was everything we could have hoped for and then some. The queen beds make the resort, fantastic pool, great food choices, quick bus trips and being picked up first over POR seating easy....movies and marshmallow roast plus a wonderful walking path around and to POR a pleasant getaway...

I'd have to say, out of the 2 moderates we've stayed at, CSR and POR, POFQ wins hands down on compactness and great CM's, the boat to DTD is a pleasant trip to getaway from the hordes and get a little shopping in....

If you want a step above a value with a resort that's compact and pleasant to vacation at... Give this one a shot....you won't regret it

My daughter and I stayed here over the Labor Day weekend. We had a great time and were really impressed. I've been to New Orleans and the hotel was pretty spot-on with the outward appearances.
Pros: Check-in was very easy and the cast member was very nice. The room was great and very clean. We had a beautiful view of the courtyard - lots of trees and cobblestone. Air conditioner was cold and quiet. Our mousekeeper was superb - she left us extra towels, shampoo and soaps each morning as well as towel animals! The walk to the pool, food court & lobby was 5 minutes. The pool area was large enough for kids and adults to "coexist". There were plenty of lounges available. The food court was always busy and overrun with kids but we only ate there 2 times, so not too bad. Be sure and try the black and blue french dip! The best thing about our stay was the entertainment in the bar/lounge (which was in the lobby area). The guy sang, played blues/jazz, interacted with the people in the area - overall, a great way to end the evening.

Cons: Wireless internet in the room was basically non-existent. Food court closes early especially since the parks close late most nites.

I'll never go back to the value resorts again!

Spent week in Port Orleans resort in Disney in April. Haven't done Disney in many many years...
Resort was still enjoyable reasonable and well maintained. Booked trip through Disney web site including Air and ground transportation ... everything went smoothly ...since we stayed at Disney no need for a rental car. Parks are still fun even at my age .

Had meal plan which I can recommend ... no problems at all ... Plenty of food and was accepted at all the restaurants.

As an older couple we still had a blast ... and can recommend for those with kids or without
