“Worth the extra dollars!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

If you're visiting Disney then it worth investing the extra dollars to stay at Disney's Grand Floridian hotel. We first visited in 1987 and have been back many times since and it never fails to deliver on all fronts. It is a beautiful hotel, very comfortable and nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff.
The rooms are traditionally furnished with very comfortable mattresses and pillows.
There are several dining options. The character breakfast in 1900 Park Fayre(which I booked well in advance) is a great thing for the kids and the buffet breakfast has absolutely everything on it you could wish for. In that respect it is worth the money they charge. The quality of the food in all their restaurants is consistantly excellent. Getting a table for dinner is more difficult. Their fine dining Italian called Citricos is nigh on impossible to book unless you book it when you book your holiday. The bar at Citricos does serve the restaurant food but it is not particularly comfortable to sit perched on a bar stool eating what is supposed to be fine dining and paying the same price as well..
There are a number of benefits staying at a Disney hotel. One is Disney's Magical Express which takes you from the airport to your hotel with minimum fuss. Another is that you get extra park hours so you can go to the theme parks before they are open to the general public and you get late hours after the parks officially close.. You also get monorail services going just to the hotels and the option of taking a boat across to the Magic Kingdom.
All in all it is not a cheap option but it is an experience you'll want to repeat.

was woken up by fireworks from the magic kingdom at 3.30AM. Boats using their horns right into the early hours, waking us up. Hot water at our room was intermittent, had more than one cold shower. The1900 park fare dinner was awful, the table was sticky, obviously well worn as it rocked where it was broken. On top of all this, There is no ice cream for the children at this venue any more (which I thought ridiculous), and outrageously expensive.
Any bus services for this hotel are not dedicated, it is shared with others meaning that the travel times are unnecessarily longer. The boat for the magic kingdom is also shared with the Polynesian-I would have thought that these would be dedicated to the grand Floridian to provide us guests with the best possible service for the very expensive stay that we are paying for, but obviously not.
Staff are generally very approachable and nice, but I do think they are a bit brainwashed as they always have very elaborate excuses for any problem. The issue is that you don't know what is reality and what isn't, and I don't think they do either !

Penny pinching by Disney at this resort is starting to show, every year they take something else away, every year it is more expensive.

Room Tip: Firework views are lovely but noisy

Beautiful hotel in bad need of renovation. Seems as though they are adding on a new wing - there is convenience everywhere - but hey it is Disney. Food and service is always fantastic. Happiness everywhere despite updated needed. Overall, average for the high price you pay to stay at an arms reach to Magic Kingdom.

We have stayed at the GF multiple times both in the main building and the outer buildings. The bottom line is that everything here is top notch in terms of detail and quality. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. A Magic Kingdom view adds to the total experience. With a monorail station on the property getting to any Disney Attraction is a breeze.

The restaurants at the GF are some of the best you will find anywhere. Narcooses's is a more traditional American eatery while Citrico's has more of a contemporary flair. Both are outstanding. The Cafe in the main building is a great way to start your day or just grab a quick bite later in the day.

If you look at a trip to Disney as "special" then go all the way and stay at the GF. The rates are among the highest at WDW but worth every penny.

The valet at the Grand Floridian wrecked our brand new mercedes. The car is only 3 months old and did not have a scratch on it. Now the entire rear panel has to be fixed and painted. The valet manager was very nice when we reported the incident. He took all of our information down and placed a claim. Since then it has been a complete nightmare. The valets do not work for Disney, they are out sourced. The company is claiming that the car was that way when we dropped it off, that the valet "noted the damage" in the system. Obviously, after he wrecked it. Phone calls to the hotel have gotten us placed on hold for 45 minutes and re-routed back to the out sourced valet company. No one from the hotel will return our calls. So unlike Disney to have such horrible customer service. Beware, if you park your car anywhere, be sure the valet notes on the ticket "no damage".
This is our 13th stay at Disney in 15 years, sadly I think it will be our last.

We've stayed at The Grand Floridian many times but our most recent was even better than previously! It was a very special holiday and after 6 nights at The Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando, preceded by 4 nights on the beach at St Pete, this was going to be the icing on the cake! We stayed for 10 nights and were lucky enough to be on the club level concierge floor - unsurpassed comfort, service and all day long food :-) Every evening at 5, out came the complimentary champagne - made things even better!

The public areas, pools, people and atmosphere are all fantastic and we cannot wait to go back as soon as possible.

Well done Disney for creating this magical and enchanting hotel and for making our dream holiday just perfect!

i have stayed here multiple times with my mom, and loved it every time! the food is pretty good, not excellent, and everything is top notch and luxury! i love how it's so close to the park, and after a late day, you can just hop on the boat(or quick subway/transporter and go back and crash without having to take a huge journey to get back to your hotel. it is by far the best hotel Disney has to offer, but it still quite comparable to the Polynesian Resort. the main difference between the two is location, and style. the polynesian is more hawaiin, as i have stayed there. all the food at the grand floridian is exquisite, and scrumptious. YUM! i already want to go back. over all it was a great trip and i can not wait to go backkk
