Spent 6 glorious days at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. After reading posts here, and other sites and reading the "official" and "unofficial" Disney Guides, this hotel really seemed to add up. I was not disappointed, in fact it exceeded every expectation I had. Everything to from the fact that our room was ready early in the day (without our requesting it) to the way we were treated by every staff member, even to the food served in the lodge at "Whispering Canyon Cafe," I don't think it could be much better. The pool was always sparkling, the grounds looked like they were combed about twice a day for anything that didn't belong, and the views were unmatched. During our stay, we had dinner at the Contemporary, breakfast at the Grand Floridian (both character meals) and took in the "spirit of aloha" show at the Polynesian. We arrive early or stayed late at each to try and get the feel of these other resorts for future reference. Nothing truly compared. The Contemporary came closest to being as open, well groomed and will proably get one visit from us in December as a test. The Grand Floridian seemed way too stuffy, including the staff who seemed to be doing us a favor by answering our questions. The Polynesian, while apparently having the best beach at WDW just seemed old. I can't really put into words the entire experience. My wife and I are 42 and we traveled with a 7 year old and a 2 year old. Every person at the WL treated us as if they had been waiting just for us. By the way, the water taxi from WL to the Magic Kingdom and Contemporary were wonderful places for a sunset cruise, or viewing the Magic Kingdom Fireworks show. Probably the best vacation I have had in 10+ years and it was the hotel that really put it over the top.
