“Great Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We stayed here for 3 nights after our Disney Cruise in July 2014. We had a room overlooking the pool area with bunkbeds for the kids. The room had a small refridgerator and a coffee maker.
The resort is extremely clean and the service was excellent.
The kids loved the pool and beach area. Every evening they have a fire in the fire pit on the beach and roast marshmallows and show a movie on the beach.
You can watch the floating electrical parade from the beach area and also see the Magic Kingdoms fireworks.
The pool area was very nice and had a nice waterslide.
There is a boat to take you to and from Magic Kingdom that was very quick. Bus service is available to all the other Disney parks.

The only 2 minor gripes we had were:
1. The safe is entirerly too small(Will not hold a full size ipad) and requires you to carry a key
2. Would of liked more food choices on property. There are 3 places to eat. 1 is only open for dinner and is a nicer more expensive type of restaurant, 1 is a restaurant that serves meals family style for the entire table, and the other was a quick serve type of place that we did not feel was very good.

We would choose to stay here again.

First, I feel obligated to begin this review with a disclaimer. We are not Disney people. There are Disney people and there is everyone else. We are everyone else. Well, except for our 5-year-old, who loved everything about the trip. I think most Disney people will find things that annoyed me to be petty and ask why I would bother coming to Disney world. That is a fair question, but I suspect there are a good number of people who make the trip for their children while putting their own feelings aside.

The hotel is very close the Magic Kingdom. We avoided the crowded boat ride and enjoyed the air conditioned comfort of the bus service. Clearly marked busses come every 15-20 minutes, are rarely crowded, and have exceptionally helpful and friendly drivers. The Magic Kingdom is only a 5-minute ride away. If this will be your primary destination, as it was with us, the location of this hotel is ideal.

If you can suspend your confusion and frustration regarding the Disney meal plan, the food at the hotel is great. I was pleasantly surprised. The employees are very helpful in guiding you through the morass of confusion regarding what comes with what and what constitutes a snack. I felt like I was back in college but on a more confusing meal plan.

The rooms are on the small side and have the sinks as part of the living area with the toilet and shower in a separate, small room. I prefer all bathroom amenities isolated; otherwise, the light from the sink area keeps others awake in the sleeping area. I cannot fault the cleanliness. The rooms were immaculate and well maintained. They did forget to make up our room one day, but I called them before we left for the park and everything was in order upon our return.

The pool is very nice and my daughter loved it. It was never too crowded and we always found a lounge chair or two to stash our stuff. The lifeguards are on their game. There were at least three at all times and they were all business and super vigilant. I had never seen anything like it.

The only downside is the crowds. There are swarms of families and children and elderly people on scooters of death EVERYWHERE. My family quickly learned to recognize the sound of an electric motor revving up and to quickly migrate to the side of the walkway. At one point, I cowered on the side of the hallway in the hotel as a senior on a scooter gave his granddaughter a ride up the ramp at an alarming rate of speed with utter disregard for the people jumping out of way trying to save their lives.

My family quickly learned that you must operate with a survivalist instinct. Want to fill your reusable resort mugs at Roaring Forks (the only place in the hotel you can do it)? Adopt an aggressive posture including a wide stance and fill your mugs while fending off the swarms of rude children and over aggressive power moms who will do ANYTHING to fill their handful of 8 mugs at a glacial pace. It seems like this is the tactic throughout Disney. It's very Darwinian. Only the strongest survive. You must abandon your manners and sense of respect for others and selfishly put your and your family's needs ahead of everyone else if you expect to drink, eat, enjoy the pool and just survive. No one else seems to care about you, so you need to stop worrying about them and just go with it. Once you realize this, you will be enveloped in a sense of calm and all will be well with the World.

I have always liked this hotel as it is quiet for the most part, except if you are over the pool. The theme carries through and you would not k now you are near an amusement park. Have stayed here prior to this trip and will stay here again. It does take a little long sometimes for housekeeping to get to your room.

We stayed here in January with a woods view. Every night we were back we could see Wishes from room. Room was plenty big and beds very comfy. We were near elevator which made doing laundry great. Loved boat to magic kingdom. Buses to other parks were slow coming. We drove to Hollywood studios. Staff was very friendly and room was cleaned daily. We enjoyed our stay.

This resort is breathtakingly beautiful and the Magic Kingdom is a short, pleasant boat ride away. However, the service was hit or miss. The ladies in the gift shop were wonderful when one of my park purchases was sent to the wrong resort and the bartenders by the pool were amazing. Some custodial workers were not so pleasant when we were in the arcade and some at the from desk were helpful while others should find another job. The website, the resort information channel, and My Disney Experience all have incorrect closing times listed for some amenities.
No snack vending machines so after 11 there is no food unless you've brought your own. Housekeeping was great, the Whispering Canyon Cafe is great, and the resort is very clean and well-kept. I had hoped that this setting would be relaxing, but, in the end, this is not a resort for a young couple without children who stay up late. Will be staying somewhere else when we come back to Disney.

The hotel is very big and as the name states with a wilderness theme. The rooms were small for the high price and it takes the staff forever to get to your room to clean it . The rooms were no different than the rooms at the wilderness resort in wisconsin dells and im sure there are many out there know what im saying. The food in the restaurants were just ok . I didnt go with the dining plan and I saved a bundle and eaten like kings outside of the Disney property. The buses were ok to go to the parks but with it being so crowded you really have to pick your rides wisely. Rent a car and use it to go and eat your three meals a day away from the lines and noise even with a rental and eating off property I came out ahead and the food was much better and no lines or loud crowds. And folks there is no rush to be the first ones at the parks there not going any were and you have all day . Now getting back to the wilderness they need to clean there pool better and with paying all that hard earned money to stay there you really dont need to see them with there disney club time share stands and them trying to sell it they even have them at the parks. How tasteless Disney isnt hurting at all for people to vacation there so why have them out in the open . Folks stay off property and just visit the parks you will be much happier and less lite in the wallet . And remember its nice to own a boat but even better to have a friend with a boat if you know what I mean ! LOL

It was our first visit at the Disney Wilderness Lodge. It was just fabulous. Our room was nice and clean. Everyone was very nice with us. Check-in was a breeze. We loved the boat trip to Magic Kingdom, in no time you are there. The ground are absolutely beautiful. It was a short stay but i we will be back.
