“Nice time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

My husband and I went here 2nd week of March for a long weekend without the kids. We were celebrating my birthday and had it noted on the booking, called to confirm it was noted and when we arrived not one person mentioned anything. ( it should have been acknowledged)
The lobby, layout and theming of this property is outstanding. It's almost breathtaking when you walk in, it's that gorgeous.
Our room was nice and it faced the pool area. It wasn't really that loud but during the day... But no complaints there. Bathroom was a little dark, but it worked out fine. Bed was super comfy!
Bus service was absolutely terrible and doesn't seem fair staying at a deluxe resort but that's been a problem for years. Seems like the more you pay, the worse the bus service.
Would probably stay here again if given a good deal.

We stayed here with our Grandchildren, ages 4 and 9. This hotel is one short boat ride to the Magic Kingdom, which was much appreciated when returning with two exhausted young kids accompanied by two very weary adults.

The Whispering Canyon dining experience was a blast according to the kids.

The pool and geyser were also a high point. Our Grandson did the water slide 42 times.

All-in-all, the Wilderness Lodge was a 10.

Room Tip: The kids really liked the bunk beds.

My husband and I stayed at DWL for a week. When we check in the women told us we had a court yard view. I corrected her and told her we had a woods view but if we had to stay in a courtyard view room we are not paying the extra money for the room. She was on the phone for a long time asking for a woods view room for us. She found one for us. we had to wait for it to be cleaned. When we got to our room what did we see when we walked out on the balcony WORKMEN DOING SCAFFOLDLING ON THE HOTEL. No way did I want this room. We went back down to check and ask for another woods view room again check in was on the phone for a long time looking for a room for us. She found one The room was nice but the fan in the bathroom didn't work. I was not about to complain about that .We got a room. House keeping came every morning brought in clean towels and cleaned the sink and counter. The workers at the hotel were not as friendly as they were last time we stayed at the hotel. The hotel was very crowed and I think they were overwhelmed. The food at roaring fork was ok nothing special. We had dinner reservations at other restaurants and had a very good meal each time. Overall we enjoyed our vacation here and we will be coming back but not during a holiday weekend.

For those inspired by the majesty of nature, this resort is for you. From the soaring lobby to the erupting geyser and waterfall to the sounds of the west, this resort treats you to the feeling of staying in a national park at an exclusive lodge. It is close to the action and has a private boat launch that is a welcome relief after a long day in the parks. Their quick service restaurant is one of the best on property with a vast selection and reasonable prices. Although we have tried and enjoyed other resorts, we keep coming back time and time again to the Wilderness Lodge as for us, it feels like home. Splendid theming all around with that Disney difference.

It is amazing how Disney makes their resorts look exactly like the theme. Supposed to be a lodge from the Pacific NW and that is exactly where you will think you are. The lobby is amazing and the attention to detail will blow you away. It comes with a Disney price tag but it is a unique experience.

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge in the last week of May, 2014 and were very happy to have chosen this location among other hotels and lodging options in Orlando. Every time we visit Disney, we choose a new Disney Resort, AND we were so glad that we chose this one. Well, Kudos to my wife for all her Research before booking! Wilderness Lodge boasts of Great service, Great food and Great recreational activities. Our Housekeeping Attendant was just unbelievable. She was not only thorough in her cleaning but went above and beyond to create beautiful animals with wash cloths and hand towels for our little princess. This shows her passion for what she does day in and day out and loves it sincerely! The attendant at the breakfast outlet was wonderful. She went out of her way to greet the patrons and ensure all is well. Food quality was great as well. The shuttle drivers will also keep you entertained when you are being picked up and dropped off from and to the airport. The gift shop staff is wonderful, the recreational (bicycle rental) staff is wonderful..., the bell staff, the staff that weighs your luggage outside the entrance doors-kiosk for airlines etc., were wonderful...I could go on and on.....but you get the idea...EVERYONE you will encounter will be phenomenal Truly a haven for a family that simply wants to have a beautiful time on their vacation. I strongly recommend the Wilderness Lodge to those on the fence when seeking out a great location. You will not go wrong with this beautiful hotel. Its a hands down best choice, and we have stayed at other hotels and resorts at Disney, prior to staying at Wilderness Lodge. So far for us...this one takes the whole basket of accolades. There was only ONE con----we had to leave Disney and this lodge to come back to Jersey! :) But, the positive is...we will now know where to go to when we visit Disney again! :)

I will start this off with a disclaimer. I have lived in the wilderness and this is not "authentic wilderness". But that doesn't mean it isn't a great resort.

We are frequent Walt Disney World visitors. By frequent I mean 4-7 trips per year over the past decade. We have stayed at many Disney resorts in each price range and our recent stay at Disney's Wilderness Lodge was by far our favorite. The resort theme is superb. The level of details around the resort from the landscaping to the building structure to each inch of the lobby are amazing. The room itself is another treat. Very spacious with a vanity outside of the bathroom to expedite the process of getting ready in the morning.

The resort location is also wonderful. Fort Wilderness is a short walk (10 mins) or boat ride away for the free Chip and Dale's Campfire Singalong and Movie or the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue show. Magic Kingdom is also a short bus (5 mins) or boat (12 mins) ride away. I can't comment on the busses to the other resorts as we rented a car (which we highly recommend).

Pros:
- Location and Proximity to Magic Kingdom and Fort Wilderness
- Resort Pool has a slide
- 2 outdoor hot tubs
- Amazing attention to detail in the theme
- Quiet rooms if you aren't overlooking the lobby
- Spacious rooms
- Housekeeping set up stuffed animals to be "watching tv" when we returned at night
- Very friendly/helpful staff

Cons:
- Limited area to (free) park your car if you choose not to valet
- Some rooms can be very spread out and a decent walk from lobby (10 mins)
- Most resort restaurants require a reservation to be made well in advance
- Small food court can get mobbed at peak times (hour plus wait for food)

Room Tip: Avoid rooms by the lobby. The lobby gets very very loud especially when meals are being served at Wh...
