We holidayed at The Marriott World Center for 2 weeks from 9th Feb to 23rd Feb 07 inclusive. We are a family of 4; 2 adults and 2 children aged 14 and 3 years.

I have never experienced such superb quality of service anywhere I have ever been. The staff at the Marriott were all outstanding and appeared to genuinely want us to enjoy our stay. The hotel was spotlessly clean, well furnished and well maintained. The grounds were spectacular.

There is a wide range of restaurants to dine at and the choice should cater for any pallet. In particular, we were amazed at the breakfast feast.

Whilst my partner enjoyed his round of golf I supervised our 3 year old who played on the putting area, the ground staff must have had palpitations with our enthusiastic 3 year old bounding around on the immaculately maintained grounds but far from excluding us from the area the staff took a real interest in his enthusiasm and made us feel very welcome.

After being at a theme park we returned to find that our bathroom had sprung a leek, maintainance arrived within 5 minutes of the report, the problem was fixed within 10 minutes and the cleaners arrived within 5 minutes of the problem being fixed. Within 5 minutes of this all being concluded we had a phone call from reception to ensure the problem had been sorted.

We were so impressed with the Marriott experience that we purchased a timeshare at the Marriott Grande Vista.

The only fault with our holiday was with Shuttle Service provided by MEARS. After serious issues with 3 out of 4 of our useage of this service I contacted their Customer Services which not only ratified my opinion that they were inefficient but led me to conclude they had no empathy or care for customers, contrary to the repeated electronic message played, when you are kept on hold for over 20 minutes! Staff at the hotel were aware of our issues with transportation and provided special arrangements for our party to ensure we were not further let down, although our issues were with Mears and not with Marriott it was the Marriott staff who seemed to care and provide a solution.

I cannot speak highly enough about this hotel or its staff. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Marriott World Center to friends and family.

Not a great place to stay -- everything is really expensive, particularly the food! If you don't rent a car, expect to pay inflated prices for everything at the hotel. The one way to save money is to eat at the buffet. For about $25, the food isn't bad, and makes you feel a little better about having to shell out the extra cash for internet access and overpriced bottles of water. For the overpriced food at the pool bars, the empanadas aren't bad. The gym is pretty nice, and the pool itself is OK (though is it necessary to pipe in bad pop music over the loudspeakers all the time?)

We stayed at the Marriott World Center for a convention.

First of all, this place is HUGE, as in Las Vegas Huge. Upon entering, probably due to our convention and others in the hotel, there was a giant cluster of people in different states of inebriation. Empty drink glasses left all over the lobby, parents holding on to the hands of their children very tightly to get past the group. I think they were all waiting for transportation to go elsewhere, but the initial impression was total chaos.

We checked in and were given rooms in the West Tower. The West tower is less than 10 floors, maybe 6, and looks to be built in the 60's. Ceilings are low, hallways have horrible carpet and terrible lighting. The room is thoroughly unimpressive and we call to see if we can get rooms in a newer tower, maybe with views of Disney.

They graciously move us to the newer North Tower, which in designing, they appear to keep with the architecture of the older tower. Again, low ceilings but better lighting in the hallways. However, the lighting in the rooms is far worse--that green fluorescent light in the bathroom and vanity area. All in all, it was no better. And our room was too low to get much Disney view. Oh well.

The room was also very noisy. it wasn't so much neighbors or hallway noise, but water hammer from the plumbing. When my neighbor flushed his toilet, my bed shook. And on the other side, maybe from an upper floor, whenever the water went on there was a significant water rushing noise coming from the closet area.

As a previous poster said, the management quickly defended themselves with the request for a king sized bed by saying "it's only a request" when you book it. Why do they even give you the choice then?

We didn't get to use any of the pools/amenities, and only tried the Solaris for breakfast. We did their buffet which has a lot of choices, but it's generally mediocre food. Juice from concentrate and lukewarm entrees.

Definitely not much value in this hotel. However, if you pay the $15/day for the world pass which includes parking and internet, one of the options is to also have unlimited use at the hotel driving range. Again, we didn't actually have the opportunity to utilize this amenity.

I would not bother staying here again.

We were very disappointed with this hotel and would not recommmend it. first we were staying there for a convention, i had twice phoned ( in the month prior) and confirmed that room change to a kingsize bed ( from 2 doubles ) had been noted, no problem they assured me. We arrive, and they have lost that request. we get a room with 2 double beds, no king beds left, sorry., The room could best be describeds as TIRED. Well then we quickly discover the toilet does not flush at all well and runs constantly. I undo one of the beds and find Thrhee airs on the Clean sheets. THAT's IT! I phone the front desk and tell them they will have to move us, and tell them that frankly I expect a LOT better from a hotel of this caliber. They dont seem too concerned but agree to move us.
The next room is marginally better, toliet is fine, dirty coffee mug in room and no luggage rack anywhere to be found. so we phone the desk and rectify that.
The beds are comfy , that is the best that can be said. They charge for all phone calls including $2.18 for each and every 1-800 call. That part paying $2.18 for 1-800 calls was pretty darn cheeky.
We ate in the champions sports grill, it was ok, kind of along the line of a Red Robin. the other restuaruants looked expensive with menus that did not look particularly appealing and were in fact never very busy.
I would definitly NOT stay here again, nor recommend it. Our convention was at the gaylords, for this kind of money I would stay there. , nicer facilities better restuarants.
The Crowne Plaza Universal was also nice. We stayed there the last few days of our holiday for way less money and a room that was more modern, fresher and nicer.. Either of these would be better choices than the Marriott Orlando World center resort

Stayed there Jan 18-21 for a conference. The hotel is very beautiful and geared towards it's main audience of families going to Disney. The Marriott website did not mention that the internet connection was $13/day and it lacked package rates.

The convention center facilities were good and the free airline boarding pass printing was quite convenient.

I tried 2 of the 4 restaurants because well most were priced out of my company's expense budget. The Solaris Room's buffet for breakfast is quite good and better than the dinner. The Ristorante Tuscany was adequate for basic Italian food.

  • Liked — That it's where the convention was located
  • Disliked — Not within walking distance of anything, but I'm spoiled by living in NYC.
