“Great Location, well worth the Price, and it's a partner hotel to Universal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2011

We stayed here in august of 2011, you really can't beat this location and the ease of access by car or by walking to the Universal Orlando Resort. First a warning, Parking is not free and the walk is a small trek, but in order to get to either the Island of Adventure or Universal studios you are going to have a trek through City walk. If you drive and park, some of your trek will be replaced by moving walk ways until you actually get to the entrance of city walk. The value of this hotel is marvelous. The bed are comfy. Check in and check out were a breeze. On a side not of you are part of the rewards program for Holiday Inn, if you reserve a Universal Vacation Package through the Universal website, you will earn no reward points. Depending on your length of stay in the area, I would suggest getting the Orlando Flexticket or Flexticket Plus. It gives you unlimited admission and park hopping abilities for Universal Studios, Island of Adventure, Seaworld, Aquatica, Wet N Wild,Citywalk and if you by the flexticket plus you also get admission to Busch Gardens for 14 days from the first use plus once you pay for parking for the day if you save your reciept you don't have to pay for parking for the rest of the day, just show your flexticket and parking reciept to get readdmission to where ever you are headed after that first park of the day.

Many people have been buying universal packages for early access to the Wizarding world of Harry Potter, if you are going during a busy time, and that is your main objective go for it. We had early access used one day out of our 6 day trip there and really didnt need it. The longest we waited was 1/2 for the forbidden journey, we had longer waits on the water rides.
If you have AAA book through them or book through the Holiday inn website if you don't desire a package. With AAA we got some really nice perks like 2 free souviner mugs, pefered seating at barney if we wanted it and a few other things that very on the time of the year.

This hotel has easy access to I-4, I Drive, and easy to spot near Unviersal, it had a friendly staff, we were pleasantly surprise with our free upgrade to a suite when we checked in and love the ease of getting to all the attractions in the Orlando attractions areas. You can save a ton of money staying here compared to paying for the rooms on the Universal Property. We bought the express pass one time use for the Studios, we were able to do the entire studios from between 2pm and 9pm with only missing the Barney show, which we didnt want to see anyways.
Just three warning, #1Be aware there is a hard sell time share here, they will tell you have a welcome package with coupons and a map of area attractions. when you pick it up the person tries to get you to commit to going to a time share presentation that is "close" to the disney properties. That is is the only negative thing I found with this hotel.
#2 If your planing on using the shuttle to Universal, don't, it really not convient and the times for pick up and drop off suck.
#3 Be prepared to look for a parking spot in site, your in competetion for spots with a rental truck company and the TGIF Fridays along with other hotel guest for spots. It was frustrating at nights to come back and have to wait for a TGIF guest to leave so we could have a spot since the rental trucks took up a chunk of the parking lot.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not facing kirkman Road

I was initially worried about staying here due some bad reviews I read, but because of price and location I decided to give it a shot. I was extremely happy, staying the second week of Sept with my g/f for her birthday. We had a suite on the top floor, that was amazing. They are doing remodeling, but you could hardly tell except for the signs posted, and the new smell of everything. They allowed us to check into our room early and that got us an extra day at Universal. It is an easy 10 min walk to Universal and Citywalk and has a bus stop right out front for anywhere else you may want to go on International Dr for only $1.25 instead of a hefty cab price. The staff was very nice, and very helpful also. We enjoyed it and highly recommend it!

Room Tip: The King suite was amazing!

We got a package deal with Universal Studios which includes the park tickets and a few perks. The hotel just renovated but you can still smell the humidity that has done to the building. The maid doesn't want to restock our wash cloths. The front desk lady was super nice, but she seemed to be left alone alot because every time I went up she's there by herself with phone, staff, and guests. There were times you see that she was going to get a smoke break but a guest walked up. Anyway, the room is huge, the bed was clean and comfy. Don't walk to Universal parks, it is not as close as they made it sound. If you want to take the bus from the hotel, you need to make a reservation and get a ticket. And for return, you need to talk to the driver. We cab it once, the driver felt bad and only charged us $5. We decided to drive ourselves, and while Universal charge you $15 for parking ($20 for preferred) it's easier that we can park close and drive to the grocery store to get our meals. They do have a laundry room on the first floor, $2 per wash, $2 dryer.

Located directly across from Universal Studios but because Universal Studios is so big it's not exactly walking distance probably a quick 2 minute cab ride away. Lobby is nice seemed like they were doing some renovating. I had a suite on the 2nd floor and this room was HUGE more of an apartment than a hotel. Kitchen with with a full fridge, living room with comfy love seats then the bedroom was huge too! I only paid $50 on priceline I really got over on this one. Great hotel for a stay and visit to Universal Studios. Do it!

Nice hotel, we had 2 bedrooms and living room! loved it. Only thing is that it says at the entrace of universal but it s a good mile and we just cabbed it, which was good. But if u ask the hotel to get you one make sure u say u want a metered cab the one they call is double the price of a metered one. All and all would return if the price is right

We came to Orlando 14 months before and stayed at the top of international drive, so was a drive too universal and $15 a day car parking. So this year we choose this hotel, we could walk to the park in 15 minutes so the savings made were well spent on booking a great hotel. Clean, modern. Helpful staff. The room was great, flat screen tv with games, easy access wifi, fridge and lots of space. We ate the connected tgi's a few time and the food was great both times.

Would recommend as a hotel no matter what but throw on it's closeness to universal and it's a winner!

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel the end of August for four nights. Upon arrival we were checked in quickly and were surprised with an upgrade to a nice suite. The suite was large and comfy and we were very happy with it.

You can walk to Universal but it is pretty tricky with the traffic especially at night. We ended up doing the morning shuttle (which you book in advance but is free) and then taking a cab back for about $5.00.

I did not have any issues with the sales people at the other desk next to the shuttle desk.

The hotel is being renovated but there was never any issues there either.

we sat by the pool a few times and it is nice and clean.

My only issue was that housekeeping was not the best. There were some hairs next to the tub and something that might have been dried snot on the wall by the toilet. Also we never got more washcloths until the last day.
