On arrival the hotel lobby looked fine except fot the furnishings these were very worn and in need of replacement, when we arrived at our room we found it spacious and clean but again the decor was worn and very drab and in dire need of updateing, also to our amazement we had been given a second floor room which do not have a balcony even though Virgin holiday guests are supposed to be guarranteed one, we complained and was told the hotel full, try again at 7pm, we did this and got the same reply, but when I said I would complain to our virgin rep, a room with a balcony suddenly appeared., Unfortunatly the safe in this room did not work and was unrepairable and due to the hotel lobby safety deposit boxes being too small to hold expensive cameras etc, we asked to be moved yet again. We were found yet another room with a balcony in fact according to house keeping there were several rooms available on our floor, so I could not understand this problem in the first place.
The first couple of days was a US public holiday and the pool area was full, with drunken adults taking over the pool slide and unsupervised teenagers running wild, but when this passed the pool area had plenty of room to accomadate every one and the python slide was a big plus if you have kids.
Food at the hotel was OK, breakfast resonable and when everything taken into account as cheap and of better quality than other places provideing buffet breakfast, dinner was also fairly good but the restaurant was ussually empty and lacked atmosphere, possibly due to the abundance of restaurants outside the hotel. I can recommend both Chillis and the Olive Garden for quality at a very resonable price and are both just accross the road,A little further afield but within walking distance is the Red Lobster at the Cross Roads shopping area, slightly more expensive but well worth it.
One other problem was the amount of unsuppervised children running around and shouting in the corradors late at night and even after a hard days slog around Disney they still managed to wake up my 6 year old several times,as late as 1am, while I can only presume parents party the night away leaving a fifteen year old in charge of the extended familys other children.
In all I had a pleasant stay at a reasonable 3 star hotel which did not have the luxury my tour operator or Sheraton advertise, but its amenities and location make up for most of its other short falls.
One thing I did find amazing on this holiday was the American peoples overwhelming love for Micky Mouse and the other Disney Characters, and I can now understand how Mr Bush got elected not once but twice.
