My wife, 8 year old daughter and myself stayed at the Sheraton Safari for the second year running (aug 31-sept 14 2006). We find the location of the hotel excellent for restaurants which are within walking distance. Try the Miller Alehouse which is directly across the road behind the 7/11, very good quality food and service with sensible prices. All the Disney parks are a very short car ride away.
The hotel has a lovely large pool with python slide, which keeps the kids amused for hours, also try food from the poolside Monkey bar which serves up hot snacks for around $8-$9, although a pitcher of Bud will set you back $13. Also try out the breakfast buffet at the hotel which we found better than local buffets.
We have been reading other reviews about this hotel with people stating that the rooms are dirty, air con noisy, not enough towels in the room, etc, one even said that the free towels provided around the pool area were too rough (pity for them) we found none of this during our stay. The staff are very friendly and eager to help.
However, our only disappointment was the hotels transportation service ( do not use them ). We priced a return trip to old town in Kissimee and was quoted $50 then the price was dropped to $40 ( obviously not a fixed price , just how they feel on the day ). They dropped us off at our destination, and we arranged to be picked up at 11.pm. They did`nt show up. We were left stranded in a part of Orlando that did`nt seem very safe to us at that time of night. We phoned the transportation desk only to hear an automated voice saying that they were closed. We had no choice but to flag down a passing cab ( County ) who were very helpful and a lot cheaper. Perhaps the Sheraton should use this company instead for the safety of their guests. Other than this we had a fantastic time and we would not try another hotel as this one is hard to beat. Try to get a room with a pool view on floors 5 or 6.

My family and I have stayed at approx. 20 hotels in the last 6 years all around Orlando and Kissimmee. Out of all of them I would sincerely say "the snake slide hotel" as my kids call it is the best ! It is right in the middle of everything, you can't beat the price and overall it is a great deal. There are fancier more expensive hotels around Central Florida but for the money the staff, amenities, cleanliness, location atmosphere...this place can't be beat in my opinion. If your looking for an above average stay while paying for average then this is the place.

The Sheraton Safai Hotel was an amazing hotel. We stayed for 6 days. The staff was amazing, our room was great, and the experience was fun.

Not at all worth the fee per night! Looked worn, & our balcony room with the city view, turned out to be the back parking lot & the rear view of a resturant, from our 18 inch wide balcony.

We stayed at a different hotel for the remainder of our stay , which was much nicer & cleaner, at less than half the price of the Safari.
