My husband and I and our 4 year old stayed at this hotel for a week starting March 12, 2008. We received a standard room, 2 queen beds, building 2, 4th floor, facing the main street where Pizza Hut and Olive Garden restaurants were located. After reading some of the reviews here where it's mentioned that facing the main street can be noisey, upon check in, we asked for a quieter room facing the large parking lot. We were very politely told that everything was booked at that moment, and we can change the room the next day. However, we really had no need to change the room, which turned out to be very, very quiet. It was also very specious, very clean, and was cleaned well each day we stayed there. The carpet in the hallway, near the elevators, did have some small stains, but which hotel doesn't? We didn't care. The personel was always polite.
The lobby was fantastic. Very beautiful and safari looking. Complementary lemonade and cookies were served in the lobby every afternoon around 4 pm. Our child loved the m&m chocolate chip cookies.
The pool was great. We used it a few times and were able to find lounge chairs with no problems. The python slide looked fun for many of the older kids, but we didn't use it. The tiki bar had a good selection, but was very pricey. We paid $9 for a non alcoholic tropical drink. There's also a small childrens pool, and a play area outside the pool, which we also didn't use.
Couple of late nites we ordered food from the Casablanca restaurant in the hotel. The food was expensive, but tasty. I loved the seafood chowder soup.
The hotel also has a little store, selling the basic neccesities: water, juice, snacks, souveniers. About 5 min. drive down the road, in the same parking lot with McDonalds is Goodings, a large, upscale grocery store. I was shocked at their prices.
Another large and more budget grocery store is about another 5 min further drive down the road, same side of the road. I forgot the name, but it's right next to a pizza place. Super Walmart is in the same direction, about a 15 min drive from the hotel.
At the hotel we saw people waiting for the shuttle buses. We never used them, because we had a rental car. We were almost always able to find a parking spot on the building side where our room was. We could look out of the balcony and see the car.
The hotel sells disney park tickets, and we asked about the price. Good thing we didn't purchase them, because they were at least $10 cheaper per thicket at the park gate.
There's tons of restaurants and shops around the hotel. We saw lots of people walking. Downtown Disney is about a 10 min. drive. Hard to find parking. Very crowded and ridiculously expensive.
We enjoyed our stay.
