This was our second trip staying at All-Star Movie resort. The year before we stayed here for 10 days (Toy Story section) and this year (2006) we stayed for 10 days (Love Bug section). It is a huge complex with close to 2000 small rooms (260 sq.ft.). The only bed choices were 2 doubles or 1 king (74 rooms). We got connecting rooms for our group without any difficulty. All rooms open to the outdoors, so there can be some noise as people walk past your door, especially true if you are near the elevator or on the main path to the pool/Cinema Hall.
Even though the rooms are small we weren't spending much time there except for sleeping so it wasn't a problem. We did bring our own mini-refrigerator but it really wasn't necessary. Again with the dining plan we were able to get drinks and food at any time and not worry about carting in alot of snacks.
We were in Disney both times during the "off" season and it wasn't crowded. There was always always room in the pool, at the laundry or short lines in the Cinema Hall for food.
Mousekeeping had our rooms cleaned by mid-day everyday except one of which we know. The themeing inside and outside the rooms really made it extra special. We didn't find it Disney-overload but really exciting for the kids.
The food choices at Cinema Hall were very good. We had the Disney dining plan so prices weren't a concern. We highly recommend purchasing a resort refillable mug. We used it everyday and would get pop with our meals or hot chocolate before bedtime for free. We ate at Pop Century one time and found it much more crowded (less seating too) and less food variety than at All-Star Movies.
Staying on Disney property affords so many benefits that we would do it again in a heartbeat. The extra park hours, having purchases in the park sent straight to your resort to be picked up later, the extra security (gated entry into the resort) made staying on site a no-brainer. We highly recommend this property to anyone visiting Disneyworld on a budget and who isn't going to hang out in their room alot or want to have a waterslide at the pool.

We just returned from our once in a lifetime trip to Disney World.
The trip was just OK. We stayed at All Star Resorts Movies. The resort was Ok. I would compair it to a Motel 6 with Disney Benefits. The people were helpful and friendly. I do recommend: the refillable mug to use your whole stay (only refillable where purchased), the dining plan, and Disney Experss ( the bags magically appear in your room).
We didn't do the dining plan and split meals. ( 4 adults) Still cost $30.- 75. per meal, only the entree, no drinks(water), appetizer or dessert. Definitly not big enough meals to split even for the light eater. Breakfast is good at the Movie resort.
I would recommend staying at the All star Sports instead. You can walk to McDonalds. The bus goes to all 3 resorts, Sports first, then Music ,finally Movies. It seemed the bus would get full at the first 2 resorts and not come to the Movie resort, or only a few people could get on and many were waiting for the next bus. Finally after over a half hour they would send an empty bus to Movies but by that time there were so many people that some still had to wait for the next bus. There was standing room only much of the time. I thank everyone that gave up their seat to my Dad and his friend (75 years old)
Take note this is in the "off season" . I would recommend going in January. It was incredibly hot and humid the end of Feb. I could not imagine Disney world on the summer: The heat and crowds.
Be careful when getting your boarding pass for the return flight. I checked our seats, had one that wasn't right. They said you have to take that up with the airline when you board. Turned to find out on further inspection I had a boarding pass for SOME ONE ELSE. That would have been great to try to get through security with someone else's pass.
Lastly I booked with Expedia, because my son recommened them. I don't. I booked 4 people 2 rooms. I did not get the Disney Express tickets for my Dad and companion. I had to call them directly.(The gentelman I was talking to was very helpful, he had worked all over the park and had lots of tips and answers to my questions). They had the reservation but no info on who to send it to.
I was susposd to get 2 dining gift certificates, only got 1. I called Expedia twice on vacation, they said they would take care of it. Never did. I emailed them when I got back. They said they couldn't address it on email, please call them. I don't want to spend another hour on the phone to still not get an answer. The first day when we checked in our Disney passes weren't there. We missed our first day at Disney because we couldn't get our passes until they curriered them to the resort. We also bought I-ride tickets DON"T. I- ride is not available from Disney property. I didn't know why they offer it.
Sorry so long:

Did not like the All Star Movies. I have prevoiously stayed at the moderate priced resorts in Disney, since this was only going to be a 4 day stay, decided to do the value resort, bad choice for me. First of all there is no coffee maker in the room, most hotels have them. The room was moldy smelling. This is more like a motel with an expensive breakfast court. While the decor is fun the rooms are small and you get one bar of Mickey soap in the room. If you ask for more soap or pillows you have to wait forever to get it. (We had four in our room). Getting to your room is a little dodgey, the desk assumes you have been there before and gives you a map, and if you get in at night, lots of luck finding your room!!!. No one around to help you on the poorly lit paths. It's ok if you have children and want the value hotels, but if you don't ...book the Carribbean beach instead, or even the Courtyard by Marriott on the Disney property.

We stayed at the All Star movies from 2/4/07-2/10/07. We had a great trip. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. My kids loved all of the giant characters and theming of this resort. The food court had very good food, althogh it was sometimes quite crowded. The busing was a little rough at times with two small children, especially when there was no seating. Disney did seem to be attentive to when the lines were long for the buses, they ran extra ones. The food plan was worth every penny...I would never visit Disney without it. The kids meals were big enough for my four-year old and eighteen month old to share. (He was too young for the meal plan.) I would reccomend this resort...but next time we'll get a car! Oh, and the souvenier mug at the hotel is worth it-with free refills the length of your stay!

Stayed at All Star Movies for 10 day Disney Vacation. This resort was very clean, staff friendly and helpful. Rooms are smaller, but the beds were comfortable (suprising for the value), housekeeping would make little animals out of the towels, it was very cute. Stayed in the Buzz Lightyear side, which was great with huge Buzz lightyear and Woody figures. The food court was fine, but get there early by 7am or it gets a little crazy. Take advantage of the dining plan. Well worth the money if you make reservations before you get there. Our 8 year old loved the hotel, and is a great value for the money. Would stay there again.
