“Great hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014

If you want a taste of Disney at an affordable price, this is your hotel! The rooms are nice and the staff is great. There's Mickey everywhere you look, even in your bed! It's a great hotel to go with kids. The area is safe and there's a McDonald's close by. The food court and the pool area are also quite fun to visit.

They don't call it a "Value Resort" for nothing: The All-Star Movie Resort provides comfortable rooms (everything you need after and exhausting but thrilling all-day visit to the Parks), great guest services (free bus transportation to all Disney Parks) and a nice dose of Disney magic with its lovely theme (visit the Toy Story area, it's super fun) for a very convenient price.
As a Disney Guest, you enjoy the Extra Magic Hours (usually two more hours when the Park is only open for guests), Fast Pass service and much more. Really, why would you like to stay outside Disney?
The Food Court has something for everyone (from fruits and vegetables to Mickey-shaped waffles) and there's even a merchandise shop inside the hotel featuring the most popular souvenirs which can also be found at the parks.
When we arrived, our room wasn't ready, but we were promptly assigned a new one. At first, I was a little apprehensive about the motel style of the accomodation, but my fears were laid to rest: sleeping quality is great and the room is full of basic amenities (safe, cable LCD, etc).
Overall, I would stay again without a doubt.

Room Tip: The Toy Story area is close to the Food Court and it has probably the most inspired design (plenty o...

We have been to Florida 7 times previously but this was our first time staying on site at Disney. We weren't expecting much as this is a basic resort but we were pleasantly surprised. The benefits of staying in Disney with the extra magic hours is fabulous. Not having to drive every time you head to the parks was an added bonus not to mention saving on parking costs. The buses come along for each park or Downtown Disney every 15 minutes so you never have to wait long. At closing time they put on plenty of buses to cope with the mass exodus from the parks. Would definitely stay here again but we got a great deal staying in Disneys Coronado Springs Resort for the same money AND with Disney Dining included. Going in September so will add a review as soon as we are home.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Mighty Ducks which had it's own pool and was much quieter than the main Fantasi...

I was very hesitant about picking this resort due to the reviews I have read... We stayed in the toy story section and it was absolutely a wonderful experience.. Yes there is a lot of walking but not too much that two 5yr olds and 2 adults couldnt handle ESP walking in the parks all day.. There are benches and tables you can stop at if you are tired..the room... It was just right we didn't stay in there for too long.. To sleep and shower and start all over again the next day...our family will definitely be using this resort again......the buses were always on time never really had to wait...all around GREAT TIME by the way we just got home last night and planning for another trip in 2016 We love WDW DASMR!

Disney's All-Star Movies is ... fine. Not great, not horrible. Essentially, it's a large collection of mini-motels surrounded by Disney-themed outdoor decor and featuring two sparkling pools and a small playground. The room was very small but well maintained (it clearly gets a lot of traffic). The toilet and shower are in a separate room from the sink, which is always a good feature. We had a hot, powerful shower, plenty of towels, a good AC unit, and no noise from our neighbors.

Our check-in experience was delightful. One worker spotted us and directed us to another worker, who checked us in promptly and handed over our wristbands, which are waterproof wonders that serve as your room key and ATM card while on the property. Granted, it was sometimes challenging to get it to open our door without taking it off or twisting my arm, but I do like the concept. It was particularly useful in line in the cafeteria, so I didn't have to fumble for my wallet while balancing food on my tray.

Breakfast was pretty average -- scrambled eggs were not impressive and the bacon was thin, but the waffle and biscuit were pretty tasty. We weren't there for lunch or dinner, so I can't comment on those menus. Food and drink prices were not completely outrageous; Disney saved the ridiculous price tags for the on-site gift shop.

In this price range, we neither expected nor experienced a "magical" experience. Remember, you choose to stay at Disney's All-Star Movies because of the relatively low price and the conveniences associated with staying on the Disney property. (We were there for a Disney wedding.) Keep your expectations in check and you'll probably be satisfied.

Staying at Disney's value resort saved our family about $50 per night. Looking back I would have preferred to spend the extra money. The hotel first messed up our reservation. We booked two adjoining rooms in the Dalmatian building but were given two rooms in two different buildings. They fixed it but we were still not in the building we wanted and our rooms were not next to each other. The rooms were very small but manageable. Things like extra pillows and blankets had to be requested. The housekeeping was TERRIBLE. She left dirty towels on our bed and sheets were not changed even when they were dirty. One morning while getting ready we noticed an awful smell coming from the bathroom. It turned out when our neighbors showered, sewage rose from our drain.
When it came to food, I would rather take a bus to a park just to eat. The food court at the hotel was always full and even when it wasn't the staff was ridiculous. One night I waited 20 minutes for a personal pan pizza that was already cooked. There was only one woman ahead of me in line and there were five employees behind the counter. The food itself tasted GREAT. No complaints there. I would have liked it if they changed their menu every now and then. Lunch and Dinner was the same every single day.
The transportation was also an issue. Disney provides buses every 20 minutes to all the parks and Downtown Disney. The only issue staying at an All-Star Resort is that there is 3 of them. All Star Movies was the last stop so by the time the bus got to us it was already very full of people. Same thing happened when we wanted to go home. We would wait in line about 40 minutes to get on a bus because there were so many people in line.
My final complaint was the communication with the front desk. When a guest uses the room phone it goes to a call center and not the front desk at the specific resort. The night before we went home we called down to see if they had a scale we can use to weigh our luggage. We were told there was one right outside the door and it's open all day. After dragging four heavy suitcases to the front desk we were told they closed 30 minutes ago and to come back at 5am. We weren't even offered help getting our bags back to our room.
My family visits Disney about twice a year and we have never had such a awful experience. The hotel staff was slightly sympathetic towards us but could offer us nothing for our troubles.

Room Tip: Dalmatian and Fantasia are the best buildings to request location wise. They are both good distance...

The 1st time I went to Disney we stayed in the Movies resort I found it quite charming we were located in the Mighty Ducks part of the Hotel on the ground floor just a stone throw away was the little pool area which was very handy for a swim as the bigger pool can become very busy during the day. Hotel room itself was quite functional with two double beds, TV and fridge.
Hotel staff were good at the front of house and in shop and canteen, the food its self was basic and a tad bit expensive about 8-12 dollars for 1 meal compared to fast food outlets and the mall were you could pick up food from 2-6 dollars and bigger portions. Drink cups cost about 12 dollars for unlimited refills are a good idea but it was basically fizzy drinks coke, Dr Pepper no wonder the yanks are obese as they were drinking these for breakfast. Room was cleaned very well by the housekeepers and added to the magic by arraigning my two year old daughter’s dolls in a nice fashion on the bed or in the window for her to come in and think they are alive nice touch.
From this resort there is free transport to Disney parks which is fantastic but except obese Americans in scooters get to jump the queue ahead of people waiting in line! These buses can become extremely over cowered and dangers which would not be allowed in Europe never mind the UK and many time I was left standing holding my 2 year girl for many trips as the ignorant yanks wouldn’t even give me there seats but looking past these things Magic Kingdom is magical and is the pinnacle of the Disney parks with Hollywood studios and Animal Kingdom after. Epcot was outdated boring not for the younger kids and the restaurants in there charge for too much.
Going back to the Hotel the nearest non Disney thing to walk to is McDonalds which is about a 20 min walk other than that the malls about 20-30 mins away and if you don’t rent a car your using expensive taxi rides what can cost $50 each way! So take plenty of money. Overall experience was amazing tho apart from flying with Monarch Airlines which are horrible, outdated and staff rude avoid them and fly on the Dreamliner with Thompson instead as I did the second time. So basically take about $4,000 spending money if a family of 3 like mine and have a magical time but prepare yourself for very arrogant Americans I hope this helps.there was no fitness centre too.

Room Tip: Mighty Ducks next to small pool
