“Amazing Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2014

I stayed at the Point the first week of April and had an amazing trip. Every employee I met was so nice and helpful. The hotel was clean, the pool was the best part. It was busy but still quiet and I was able to enjoy the sun after having such a bad winter. I hope to return again soon.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are nice!

Hotel was clean and everyone I interacted were friendly. They didn't do full cleaning service, but towels were replaced and trash was taken daily. Kitchen had dish soap, dish sponge, tide box, and roll of paper towel and cleaning lady would give us new laudry detergent/paper towel when we asked for it. I mentioned to manager that shower was draining slow half expecting it to be addressed. When we came back later that day, shower drained much much better, so I was quite happy with them addressing our concern.

Although pool was supposed to be heated, we were there when air temp was mid 70s, so pool water was bit cold for my toddler. I didn't like that they didnt have no smoking policy, so there were some people smoking. You would think that with families around, pool area should be smoke free.

Breakfast was included in the package we got - I had better at other places, but not bad. You give them your voucher and then they give you a bowl and plate, which meant that we had to use the same plate for different items -what do you do when you had oatmeal in the bowl but later wanted their yogurt?

location was fine for us because we weren't there for disney, but if you are mainly there for Disney, I think it's bit far. 20-30 min drive especially in rush hour time. very close to the two outlets tho.

oh we had some very small ants in the kitchen by the sink (3rd floor suite), but oddly none around where garbage can would be. i didn't find them anywhere else and didn't want hotel to come in a spray something while my toddler is around. so i only notify the hotel when we were checking out.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with the TripAdvisor community. Thanks for mentioning how clean and well-equipped you found the one-bedroom suite to be. We are also pleased that you experienced such friendly service. Please know that we do have a non-smoking policy throughout the entire resort. We apologize that this occurred during your stay and we will be addressing this. Thank you for alerting us to the small insects that you noticed. These are extremely common in Florida and often find their way indoors. We have already had our pest control company address this. Thank you again for taking the time to write a review, we hope that you will consider staying with us again when you return to the Orlando area.

We stayed here again for the second time. From the time we checked in to the time we left it was nothing short of an amazing experience. The staff are all so welcoming and willing to help. The room was clean and beautiful. The pool and the Cabana Grill Bar was great. We were able to enjoy our time on vacation without having to worry about anything at the hotel. The prices are very reasonable and we will definitely stay here again next year!

Room Tip: One bedroom suite is great!

Basic rooms, location slightly off main roads. Shuttles to theme parks were good.

Water coolers and ice not present on all levels so it was slightly of a hassle.

Gym and swimming pool looks okay. Did not get a chance to try them.

Drivers recommended/ contacted by front desk not reliable.

We stayed here for 4 nights in 1 bedroom suite.

Our room was big with living room, fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryer, big bathroom with separate shower and bath.

The hotel has a swimming pool and a bar. Location was close to the wet'n wild. You need to have a car in Orlando.

The hotel was great to come back to after a day in the theme park, we usually went straight to the pool and relaxed.

The only downside was the breakfast. Coffee and tea were from Starbucks and the food was not nice.

I agree with Angel-i83, clean and comfortable, but overpriced for what it is and where it is.
You are going to need a hire car if you stay here.
Breakfast all you can eat for $9.99 is OK but I have stayed at hotels locally with free breakfast that was just as good.
The pool was always in the shadow of the building when we went to take a look.
Friendly staff always spoke when passing.
I would spend my money elsewhere in future.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review! It is nice to hear that you found the property to be clean and comfortable. Thank you for also mentioning the friendly service that you experienced throughout your stay. We apologize that you were not as happy as we would have liked with the location and the breakfast buffet served each morning. Many guests find that they don't need to hire a car as they use our scheduled theme park shuttle and the local I-Ride Trolley to get around. We also do have packages that can be booked where the breakfast is included in your rate. We regret that you didn't have the great experience that we usually provide. We hope that you will consider giving us another chance when you return to the Orlando area.

Starting with the room - the bed was HUGE and very comfortable which we absolutely loved. Important when you've had such a long day on your feet! The bathroom was also huge, clean and well decorated. The view was average, we looked south and couldnt see anything of particular interest, but at least it wasn't facing a building site!

The living room isnt great. My boyfriend injured his back on the sofa - it's so old and was a sofa bed, so the bottom seat bit had failed down and back (assuming springs had gone), and there was a hard wooden bar along the bottom of the back cushions, so if you fell back into it, you hit the wooden bar which really hurt! I got my foot caught in the gap once which really hurt too.

Kitchen was just average. Pool was average. Pool bar had no atmosphere or personality.

Location - we thought it was easy walking distance to everything - how wrong we were!! It's a lot further than it looks, and when you've been on your feet in theme parks all day, it suddenly feels three times as long! The 'local grocery shop' at the end of the road on the corner to International drive had very little choice, and the cashier seems to just make up the prices in his head and be very rude. Using the i-ride trolly as actually really easy. And it's worth hopping on it to Bahama Breeze which was an amazing bar! Wish we'd stayed nearer there!!

The shuttle service was good, though we never ended up getting it back as you never know when you'll finish up. If you stay for the fireworks at disney, you miss it for sure. You then have to get a bus, then swap and find the other bus stop, then get another one. Then walk for a good 20mins to get to the hotel - trust me, when it's been a long day, it almost ruins everything. We felt so exhausted and drained because of the travelling around side of things. Such a shame.

BE WARNED! The worst part of our trip was the taxi service. They absolutely pray on tourists. We first got a cab from the airport taxi rank to the hotel. Only to find it cost us more than double what it should have and he took us in a loop right round the outside of international drive and then back through it to get to the hotel. During the week we asked the hotel to call us a cab to go to Universal Studios as we'd tried walking the day before and it took ages, we had awful blisters. The journey should have been $6-$8 excluding tip. He took us all over the place. When I finally started asking where he was going and telling him he was going the wrong way, he started shouting at us saying 'YES UNIVERSAL YES! I KNOW WAY I KNOW WAY UNIVERSAL SHHHH!'... then took us to sea world. We actually felt frightened. This was taxi company the hotel had called!!

We felt the hotel was overpriced for what it was, although we really did love the bed. When we go again, we'll be staying right on International Drive for a week and using i-ride trolley, then paying out for a disney hotel the second week as now we've done it, we belive it would be well worth it to use the disney transport.

All this said, please don't think we hated the holiday! We had an amazing time! The theme parks were fantastic, well worth every penny of the tickets. Bahama Breeze was the best bar we have ever been to in our lives and the cocktails are to die for, and the bars at Universal were great too - again, great cocktails!

Thanks very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We are so glad that you found the bed to be so comfortable. It is also nice to know how much you enjoyed the bathroom with a walk-in shower and jetted tub. We do apologize sincerely that you found the sofa bed to be less than comfortable. We will absolutely be addressing this in the suite you stayed in. While our resort is located centrally to Orlando's attractions and dining, we are tucked away just enough so that our guests can enjoy a quiet and tranquil environment. The I-Ride Trolley is a great option for traveling around the area, so we are glad to hear that you did enjoy that. We are also very sorry to learn about the transportation inconveniences that you experienced. This is not something that we would ever want our guests to experience, so we will be addressing this internally. Thank you for sharing your comments, we hope that you will reconsider staying with us again when you return to Orlando.
