We (my husband, 3 children and I) went to Discovery Cove on the coldest day in Florida in 5 years. When we arrived it was hovering around 0 Celcius and didn't get much warmer ( there was wind too). Despite all that, it was our best day ever in Orlando. I must admit the Dolphin swim was the least amazing part of the experience although still wonderful. We had done this in Cuba and you truely got to swim around with the dolphins and even get balanced on their noses, thrown in the air etc. so a short little ride and 29 minutes of standing with one dolphin just didn't compare. I understand they take good care of their dolphins and that certainly showed. These dolphins can take a day off whenever they want. The staff had tremendous knowledge as well. We all really enjoyed the ray pool and the snorkelling was unbelievable. It was such a safe environment for my children to learn how to snorkel and there were several lifeguards so I could relax and enjoy myself too. There is a lovely warm pool with a cave and a "river" that a guide takes you along - very relaxaing and warm at 86 degrees F. We all loved the aviary where they have over 100 species of the most gorgeous birds. We spent two hours in there while birds slept on our shoulders and curled up in our hair (looking for warmth!). We were given an unlimited amount of food to feed them and the staff was very knowledgable about each species as well as each bird's personality. Back to the water activities - we were all provided with wet suits because of the extreme cold, I believe most people picked up a new wet suit after lunch. They had plenty of hot coffee and hot chocolate on hand to keep us warm, in addition to plenty of towels. Lunch was excellent and included with the price as were all snacks and beer of course. We looked longingly at those lawn chairs lined up around the pool on the sand and thought how wonderful this place must be when it's at least warm enough to sit out. Never mind, we've vowed to come back and enjoy this place on a hot day some time. One final note: my kids felt the birds and fish were better than all the rides they went on in the parks. Now that really says something about this wonderful place.

My husband and I have been to Discovery Cove twice and are now planning our third trip. We're excited to be bringing our daughter for her 2nd birthday. Kids under 3 are free and can participate in everything but the dolphin swim (you have to be 6). She's a little water baby and will have a blast and my husband and I are thrilled to be going back. It seems pricey, but keep in mind the prices are all-inclusive. Continental breakfast, lunch, all snacks and drinks, parking, towels, sunscreen, great shower facilities...it's all included. Plus you get a 7 consecutive day pass to Sea World or Busch Gardens. The dolphin swim is only about 30 minutes, but still a great experience and there's plenty to occupy yourself with the rest of the day. You can also save about $100 if you do the non-dolphin swim package. I highly recommend Discovery Cove.

My wife and I have developed an addiction to Discovery Cove and have just returned from our 3rd visit.

Our first visit was in 2003 and was amazing. During our second visit, I took advantage of their special occasions package and proposed to my wife there. That day was absolutely perfect- from the dolphin delivering the buoy to my wife with "Will you Marry Me?" on it, to the private cabana, to the champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. It was truly a perfect engagement day.

So again we returned on December 19th as my wife was feeling overdue for some dolphin contact. What we found is that the place just keeps getting better every time.

The beautifully designed park was spotless as always. They've moved the complimentary breakfast from the reception area to the restaurant which was a welcomed change.

Lunch is now advertised as all you can eat, return as many times as you want. All of the snack food and alcohol is complimentary as well.

The dolphin swim was incredible as always. All of the reviews here offer great descriptions of DC, but I wanted to offer this special story as an example of the way you are treated there:

While waiting in our cabana area with the other guests for our dolphin swim briefing, Jeff (one of the employees who coordinates the swims) was asking us if we were having a good time. We told him how it was our third time and we always had a perfect day at DC. When we told him that we had gotten engaged at DC in 2005, he asked which dolphin we had. We told him that "Cindy" was our engagement dolphin. Jeff told us that we would have Yoshi on that day and that Yoshi was a great energetic 4 year old dolphin. Right after the briefing was over, Jeff asked us to return to the cabana after our dolphin swim because he was "working on something" for us. We didn't think much of it and headed off to the lagoon where we found that Yoshi was a blast!

After the swim, we headed back to the cabana. Jeff was waiting for us and told us that he had arranged for us to head down to the lagoon so that we could get in the water privately and have some time with Cindy. My wife was so excited she literally cried.

We headed down to the lagoon and got to spend some time, just us Cindy and the trainer. It was really great to be able to see her again and it was really special for my wife.

The fact that Jeff took it upon himself to arrange this special time for us even though we never had asked for it shows how truly dedicated the DC staff are to making sure you have the best time possible.

Discovery Cove is admittedly expensive, but you won't find a better return on your money anywhere.

Thanks Jeff and everybody else who makes DC so special!

This was a truly fantastic and memorable day, the close interaction with the dolphins was amazing, to be able to touch and swim with them was out of this world. Swimming amongst the rays was a bit daunting at first, they were huge, but they were so elegant, even the kids enjoyed the wonderful experience. This day out is an absolute must , theres so much to see and do, it is well worth the money, i would definitely do it again

Visited Discovery Cove April '05 - fantastic experience swimming with the dolphins and in the reefs but not something i would do on every trip to Orlando.

Personally thought it was quite expensive for just 30 mins with the dolphins - from what i can remember lunch was nice and included in the
price. Bought pictures and video of the interaction with the dolphins,
again kind of steep but is a once in a lifetime opportunity - both must buys. Was only two of us on the trip resulting in us sharing the interaction with about 6 other people - this was the another downside of it. Would've preferred it a bit more intimate but i think you may be able to pay a little bit extra for more of a personal interaction -i may be wrong but if i was to do it again i would certainly check that out.

Am not a very confident swimmer, wasnt struck on the coral reef (not really a fish fan!) but loved the other river/pool they have. A nice relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks.
