I like this park. It has a nice tropical feel to it. I agree with other reviewers, the safari is overrated. It's just like driving though a zoo. The whole POINT of a safari is that it is in the WILD. LOL. So the concept of this attraction really makes no sense at all.
BIG TIP: I don't know if anyone else has said this, but the park is MUCH MORE CROWDED early in the day. I waited 40 mins for Expedition Everest in the morning, but got on in 10 minutes around 6 p.m. and this was during Spring Break. I rode it three times! The safari wait was also 10 mins later in the day. But there is a reason everyone goes early, as far as the animals are concerned. They are out and about more in the morning.
The actual stucture of Mount Everest was amazing! It looks sooo real! There are lots of picture opportunities in front of the mountain and you really feel like you are in the wilderness when in this area of the park. I got a picture of the mountain in the background with a stream running in front of it, and it was beautiful. I could not believe Disney could pull off making a fake mountain look so realistic.
The rollercoaster Expedition Everest is housed inside the mountain and it's a lot of fun. You climb to the top of the mountain and look down on an amazing view of Disney World. Then you plunge downward into what looks like a snowy cold mountain, only to be stopped by a pesky Yeti that wants to doom your trip. It's silly, but it's a lot of fun.
The wait for Dinosaur: Countdown to Extinction was 10 minutes even in the early afternoon. I was thinking, "this can't be good if the wait is this short." But the ride wasn't too bad. It's really cheesy but it had me cracking up. It is a very bumpy ride and for some reason, I could not stop laughing as we got jostled around. You're supposed to be on a mission to find a dinosaur to take back with you before the asteroid hits and kills off all the dinos. Of course, there is some guy doing a running voice over of the whole mission, making it seem like you are really under pressure to get that dinosaur before getting blown to bits by the asteroid.
It is pretty dark in some parts, which I don't understand about Disney rides. I don't really find it fun to be plunged into darkness on a ride. Disney does this A LOT with their rides. With this being a Dinosaur ride, I'm sure it's very popular with kids. If I were a kid, I think this ride would scare the pants off me. It just seems like a really lazy way to make a ride scary. Just put them in the dark. I'm sure there is more they can do to make things scary than that.
We attended the Nemo stage show which was GREAT. It was just like a broadway production.
Flights of Wonder was really neat too. The birds were right on cue and they get the audience involved.
It's also fun to explore Discovery Island. It is a winding, forested path with animal exhibits spread thoughout.
Unfortunately, I missed the 3-D show "It's Tough to Be a Bug." I got there late and met up with my party and they had already been on it. Of course, they didn't tell me how good it was until it was too late to see it. But my mom LOVED it. Oh well, there is always next time.
That's about all I can comment on, since those were the only exhibits I visited. A thunderstorm came crashing in and it cut short our visit.
But I can definately recommend seeing this park, if only for the tropical, outdoorsy feel to it. It really is unique among the four major Disney theme parks. And the Tree of Life is amazing as well.
