Let me start off by saying I am an extreme halloween buff. I seek out the scariest places to be on Halloween and that has been HHN's at Universal. This has become a yearly trip for my family and myself. We began attending this event two years ago with HHN's 12. Which in my opinion has been and was the best ever. They seemed to have had a little more thought and attention focused towards their patrons. But after standing in line watching them play their DVD of HHN 12 at this years event, it occured to everyone that maybe they made HHN12 the best it could be because they knew they were going to make this video. A video that has been sold within their theme parks and aired on the Travel Channel, to attract patrons to their specially themed event. Well, in my opinion I think it worked this year. I understand HHN's was held in two parks to expand the experience and terror but all we experienced were horrendous crowds. We attended the event on 10/23 a Saturday evening, and were forced to purchase more tickets for the following evening 10/24 because we had only made it through three haunted houses the previous night. All in all this had not been the best HHN experience we have had. In fact it HHN's has seemed to have gone downhill a little every year. Yes, Universal is a great master at constructing extremely complex and interesting houses to look at which are filled with mindful gore and yes, even smell. However, they seem to have lost focus on giving their patrons a good scream and scare. Universal has seemingly increased the size of their event to pack in as many individuals that are willing to pay the money. It is really unenjoyable to be hearded through haunted houses as quickly as possible. With this type of management scareactors are unable to provide an intense experience. I would also like to mention that with putting the event into two parks, it seemed to have lost its hauntingly eerie sense of doom. Paved paths with less than asthetic surroundings to look at and scareactor less areas, really doesn't get your blood pumping. Especially when you pass through their less than scary scare zones and signs pointing you in directions of haunted houses including their wait times (wait that might get your blood pumping). The wait times were ridiculous, and almost not worth it after getting inside and being hearded through with maybe one or two true good scares. All in all this years experience was not exceptional. I can only hope that Universal realizes the mistakes they have made this year, hear our opinions and deliver us another truly horrifying experience like HHN 12, in the following years to come.
