I visited Sea World with my husband in October. This was the first time I had been to the park in probably close to 20 years, and his first visit ever - we had a fantastic time! We saw the sea lion and otter show which was very cute and made the entire audience laugh. We then went and fed the sea lions which was a lot of fun - they sit on the rocks and make a ton of noise, begging for fish. We went to the new "Believe" Shamu show, but it was only partially presented because there was a new baby Shamu - they actually did a nice job of amending the show to incorporate footage of the baby's birth, etc. It was informative as well as entertaining, and the audience still got splashed and got see all of the big tricks.
Other things we did were feed the stingrays, and my favorite was feeding the dolphins. This attraction gets very busy -they only do it in spurts, and sell limited amounts of fish so that they can control how much the animals are eating, so we got there about a half hour early and I secured a spot at the tank while my husband patiently waited on line until the fish booth opened - it was well worth the wait - the dolphins swim right up to you and you can pet them while you feed them -they are literally right in front of you.
The shark attraction was really well done - I have been to several of these "underwater tubes" where you ride the moving sidewalk, and this was by far the best I have been to - you really felt like you were underwater with the sharks.
The penguin exhibit was not so hot - it seemed overcrowded and the paint was peeling off of the walls. It was cute, however, to see the penguins taking a "shower" in the ice chips that were falling from the ceiling.
My husband rode Kraken by himself, as I am 5 months pregnant, and he said it was fun.
All in all, we had a great time, and would highly recommend Sea World. I understand the people who are upset that shows are cancelled, etc., but I think it's important to remember (and to teach our kids rather than complaining about things we can't control), that these are animals, and they can't be forced to perform - Sea World is not just an amusement park, it is a park dedicated to animal preservation and education, and there are countless opportunities throughout the park to take advantage of this experience.
