I've been going to SWF for many years (like 24 years so I’ve seen the changes) I recently went with my husband for his very first time. He enjoyed it . We arrived at the SeaWorld parking lot at 8AM (Best time to arrive for great parking) and then purchased our tickets (though 77 dollars per person you get a second day free !!-WDW doesn’t do that) while waiting for them to officially open the park (though you go right in) Hubby went to Animal Experiences counter to Book Backstage at believe- he asked for pool side seating for the 2:00 lunch. i studied the map and we went to Dolphin cove or key west whatever. get online quick if you want to feed a dolphin cause the food goes quick .
After shelling out 12 for the fish (which is fine because it was a memorable experience) your told the proper way to touch a dolphin. After that we washed our hands and went to Blue Horizons (i recommend getting there 40 minutes yearly as it does get packed) the show was beautiful we got great seats and pics. Then we went to see the other things- the dolphin nursery and the "shark encounter" which is totally boring -terrors of the deep has lost so much. Word of advice Skip the sea lion show- it was horrible like for 6 year old.. We then went to Atlantis and the only complaint was the Line!! at about 11am we went to Shamu underwater viewing and one of the Orcas was there. there was a show going on but he was there being playful with us. we got some great video and shots and there was an educator there telling us about him.
Hubby and I then went to Wild artic which was a great cool off from the heat. then off to our Backstage at believe experience. Everyone there was so helpful and friendly.. the food was awesome and we were lucky enough to have 4 mother orcas with their calves. the trainers did a training session with them as we ate our lunch and after about 45 minutes we were escorted to the Believe show. I Did NoT like the V.I.P. Seating because it was Wayyy too high up. Lucky for us, hubby and i got two great seats in front and we enjoyed the show.
The Orca show was amazing compared to past years.. less exploiting and more on showing the bond between trainer and whale, and then comes the splashing oh the splashing Listen to me!! Tillikum (big shamu with flipped dorsal fin) can splash 30 rows (seen with my eyes) so unless you want 52 degree water come towards you as a tidal wave don’t sit close.!! or at least place a sandwich bag over your camera.. After believe we stood for the Shamu rocks show (Again get there 45-50 minute early for close up seating) we were lucky because that day there was a concert. so when they opened the "doors" we got great seats. Shamu rocks: is totally worth watching because its interactive and lots of fun again you will get splashed towards the end.
All in all its a great time and lot of fun.. though alittle expensive you get a second day free.
*get to the shows early (30-50 min early) for best seating.
* make sure you bring sunscreen cause you will get burned.
*wear comfortable shoes as there is alt of walking involved.
*try to see the whales/ other animals early because their more active in the morning- mid afternoon -
take it from me a SW veteran and having had this experience before.. get there early and enjoy your day.
I recommend it.
