We went to SeaWorld in August 2008 as part of our trip to Orlando, and as we had seen a lot of adverts for its Shamu show, we were really quite excited to go.
However, we were very outraged by their customer service, as my mother got treated atrociously by a girl at a kiosk outside Shamu Stadium, and this was the worst way we had ever been treated in Orlando. She was answered - shouted at - very rudely when she asked whether they sold ice cream, and we believe that no one would ever stand for that kind of treatment, and we didn't see this type of behaviour in any of the Disney parks that we went to, or Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure or Busch Gardens. This severly dampened our day, and it was a real pity that one incident could ruin SeaWorld's reputation.
After seeing all the adverts for the "Believe" show, we were a bit disappointed when we saw the actual show - we might not have got the best seats in the stadium, but no one would be able to see the views that they describe in adverts, and we were expecting a bit more.
However, on the bright side, I adored the "Blue Horizons" show, and I was absolutely stunned by the dolphins and how they interacted with their trainers.
I also like Penguin Encounter, but expected more sharks in Shark Encounter, though I like how you could walk through the tunnel and be surrounded by sealife - not in our case, sadly.
Kraken was a good ride, and thankfully we didn't have to wait for long, though I found the actual ride quite short and therefore would have been disappointed if I had to wait for half an hour or longer. Journey to Atlantis was a bit "different" but the drop at the end was ok. I would recommend to anyone going on it NOT to go in the back row unless they wish to end up with cold, wet feet. My sister and I sat at the back, and as we were expecting to get wet, we didn't expect to have water fill up at the back as we ascended the steep slope for the drop! If you want to get wet (like I was hoping), it's not worth sitting in the back, as you barely get your arms wet down the fall, let alone any other part of your body.
We ate at Mama's Kitchen, a good restaurant but with EXTREMELY long queues, so not that good if you have small children who are very hungry. The food was good, and it was quite healthy; the menu showed the nutritional levels for each item, so it's good for people on a diet or who want to control their calories. It was also nice to eat some "proper" food, rather than our continuous intake of fast food, and their subs are quite good and filling. This was a good restaurant for us as it is not too far from Kraken or Journey to Atlantis, or from the Blue Horizons show stadium.
We also saw a show at Nautius Stadium, Odyssea, and it was described as "a circus with some variations". We were expecting tricks and juggling and circus acts, but this was about a mute man who found a pearl and other sea creatures wanted it. It really wasn't our type of show. When he first found the pearl, it was inside an oyster, and two gymnasts were in it, and they performed some amazing gymnastic poses, though that was about the best thing there. I like the ending, as it was people dressed as penguins performing more gymnastics and handstands and spins. However, I have to say that the description of this show misled us, and therefore we spent our last 30 minutes watching something that wasn't very appealing to us, when we could have been seeing something else.
Overall, I like this park but was disappointed and outraged at the lack of customer service skills present in some of the employees. The rides weren't the best in Orlando, but this park raised itself in my opinion by the dolphin show, which I liked the best.
