“A great stay off the beaten path”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

Not wanting to stay in a motel in Daytona, FL. during Biketoberfest 2012, I chose this Days Inn in Orange City, FL... I did not mind paying the asking rate for my few hours stay. Felt secure for me, wife, motorcycle and the entire room was comfortable like I requested. Felt so relaxed in the morning, my wife and I met another couple and rode back to Tampa together after a nice breakfast at Cracker Barrel. Turned out to be a great weekend.

This hotel was NOT our choice (had other family that picked it and we wanted to see them). The kids room had to be switched because not only was their non-smoking room smokey but it also had the actually tobacco in spots on the furniture and floor. Our room just smelled musty. The "free breakfast" was worth exactly that...stale cereal and not much else...we ate out!

Too many other choices in the area to stay here!

Room Tip: For a good room, pick a different hotel!

I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised on how clean and nice our kingbed room was. Since no pets are allowed the room didn't have any bad smells that are common in budget motels. The carpet was clean as well as the bed and bathroom. For the price this is a great stay.

The room with a king bed was clean as was the bathroom. The pillows were fluffy, the cvovers in good condition, & the towels were thick (compared to most budget motels). There was an extra easy chair as well as a small "dinner" table with 2 more chairs. Provided was an iron & board, hair dryer, coffee maker (2 types of coffee), small refrigerator, & microwave. There were over 60 cable channels but no movie channel (like HBO, etc). The continental breakfast consisted of 2 types of pre-wrapped honey buns, 2 cold cereals, 2 fresh fruits, coffee, toast & juice. This motel is about 4 miles away from the interstate. There are NO food or shopping areas within walking distance but there are many of these places about 1 1/2 miles away in both directions. The motel is basically between Orange City & Deland. It is located on a busy highway but I didn't hear any highway noise. NO pets are allowed. I did not use the free internet and the weather was too cold to use the pool. There was also an outdoor fireplace next to the pool.

I travel a lot and this is absolutely the WORST hotel that i have EVER stayed in. You get what you pay for, but staying here was truly a nightmare. Turned out that my room was infested with bed bugs!!! I had them move me to a new room in a different building, where i was still terrified to fall asleep in the bed. That reason alone is enough to make anyone not stay here. But the internet also does not work. It disconnects you every 2 minutes. There was hardly any hot water. The fridge has no settings and keeps everything just about room temperature. The key cards don't work right, so it takes you 10 minutes to get into the room. The rooms smell musty and just seem generally dirty. The people that hang around here are sketchy as well. But again, there are bedbugs in one of the buildings, so that is reason enough to STAY AWAY!!!

Check in went smoothly with a little hitch in the language department. In the morning I found that my coffe maker still had old coffee in it from some stay before mine. If you are planning to prtake in their sparse contintal breakfast, you better hurry because thre is only one table and two chairs. The rooms are large and the bathtubs look clean. Since I work in government the rate was in balance but the regular rate is rather pricy for this Motel. My last day I had an emergency at home and requested out of my last night. Even though I had come in a night early and paid for that, the owner said "No can do". I am very dissapointed in this lack of understanding but it seems to go with the territory since most are owned by foreigns now.
