I just spent 3 nights at the Courtyard in Oldsmar for my brother's wedding, and it was (mostly) fantastic.
What I loved:
- No bedbugs (I researched beforehand what to look for, and checked the mattresses when I got there!)
- Insanely comfortable bed. I tried to find out if there's anyway to buy a mattress set (or if they could at least tell me what kind of mattress it was) - no luck. Very, very comfortable - the mattress was firm enough to be supportive, but also had a layer of softness (almost like there was a eggcrate or foam pad, but there wasn't). I slept very well!
- Digital thermostats in the rooms! I don't travel much, and this is the first time I've seen these! Very cool, as you can set the temp exactly as you like it.
- Nice decor. Even in the "cheap" room ;-))) Lots of wood, lots of space to stow stuff. Nice artwork.
- I got the AAA discount, and my price per night was very reasonable.
- Very clean. I'm a fairly picky person, and I didn't have any problems with this.
- Good location, lots of restaurants nearby, and a Publix grocery store just a few blocks down the road.
- Side note: they have "elite" parking spaces (close by, near handicapped parking) that are "reserved" for marriott rewards members. I reserved my room using a Marriott rewards number and got access to the spaces that way (although I don't think they actually check to see who is parking there, they didn't give me a sticker or ask my license plate number or anything).
The only real problem for me was that in my room, the dead bolt didn't work. The door was still locked, and I could latch the security lock (that lets the door open a crack) - but I couldn't dead bolt it. I ended up placing a luggage rack with my suitcase on it next to the door each night before I went to sleep to feel a little more secure.
I reported this the morning after my first night, and was told that somebody would look at it, but there was no followup that I was aware of (it wasn't fixed, and nobody mentioned anything to me). Very disappointing. It might seem like a small thing, but as a single female traveling alone, it was enough to have me bolting awake that first night when I heard anything creak...
If it weren't for the deadlock, I would have given it five stars.
The only other minor drawbacks were that the towels were a bit old/scratchy feeling (but clean), and the restaurant that they use for their "delivery" service (Applebees, right next door) is really terrible for vegetarians. I found one item that I could order, and it was awful (I threw it away). Not the hotel's fault though, but it would have been nice to have some information on other nearby restaurants that would do deliver, since the hotel doesn't have room service.
Overall, I'd stay again.
